Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

check this out

a vikings fan posted this on the mock draft page i for one would shit bricks for this..

Star-divide

I was just thinking. How valuable is Suh to the Lions. Lets assume St Louis wants and picks Clausen.

Detroit on the clock.. Tampa really wants Suh. Trade 1st and 3rd ( draft chart Value- DCV) for Suh.

Detroit on the clock. Seattle wants Bradford before Washington. Gives 1st, 2nd,and 4th for #3 pick ( DCV)

Washington on clock- They take Okung since they need him more than McCoy or Berry

Kansas City on the Clock- They can have McCoy, Berry, McClain, or Haden. They take Berry who they covet.

Detroit on the clock. Denver now can move ahead of Cleveland for McCoy. Why not. 1st, 3rd, and 4th for #6 pick (DCV)

Cleveland takes Haden

Oakland takes McClain

Buffalo takes pick of the litter in OTs .I say Campbell but Buluga or Davis would do as well.

Jacksonville on the clock. Either Spiller or Derrick Morgan. I will say Morgan

Detroit on the clock. What do they really need. (RB, CB, DE, DT, OG, OT) all are available here. And most are available later. Who needs something. Believe it or not Seattle has to have the OT to protect their new QB but has nothing to trade.

Miami will want Dan Williams and knows Detroit will take him.

Four teams need a OT. Detroit, San Fran, Seattle and Green Bay. Only Davis and Buluga are left of the top ranked OTs. Green Bay probably won't give up three picks as the chart suggests, and the Tuna won't give up enough points to make it worth Detroit's time. 49rs could give a 1st and 4th to choose their OT. Probably not. I say Detroit chooses Dan Williams as their DT if they wanted a DT in the first place or Spiller would be a great back for them. They can have Graham or Iupati. They can grab the #2 CB or they pick up the #3 OT if they think that's what they want.

Now to fill all of their other needs they have Pick #34, 38, 66, 67,75, 98, 102, and 107

Not bad for trading Suh for Williams. 9 picks in the 1st 4 rounds of a deep draft. Now I'm not saying these particular trades will happen. But I do believe that this draft will be a wild ride when it comes to trading. With only two QBs leading the pack and two special players heading the draft things could get interesting.

his numbers are off but this what they are and what it would look like.. Might as well make a mock of it to

1st (10th overall from Denver) DT Dan Williams - starter

2nd (34th overall) CB Kyle Wilson - starter

2nd (40th overall from Seattle) OG Mike Johnson - starter

3rd (66th overall) DE Greg Hardy - starter

3rd (67th overall from Tampa Bay) WR Demaryius Thomas - starter num 2

3rd (81st overall from Denver) S/ KR/ CB Akwasi Owusu-Ansah (might make a better S in the nfl) - starter at S maybe CB??

4th (98th overall) OLB A.J. Edds - could be starter or a back up till Sims or JP is out

4th (102nd overall from Seattle) RB LeGarrette Blount - change up

4th (112th overall from Denver) OG/ C Eric Olsen - starter at RG till dom is gone then he be our C

5th (130 overall) CB Brian Jackson - could start by end of year..maybe even right away on our team..

5th (155 overall from Denver) P Zoltan Mesko (yes I know we need a lot but if we pull of this trade we can do this) - starter that can punt more then 20 yards

6th (162 overall) BPA

I would shit the dam bed

I'd love it...

But like you said… obviously a pretty long shot.
The only players I want at #2 are either Suh or Berry, with the latter being my personal preference.
But if we’re gonna get 4-5 more picks in the 2nd and 3rd, I’ll let that #2 go. I especially don’t want McCoy or anyone else at #2 though for sure.

Long shot is an understatement

More like it won’t happen….I posted a comment with a similar scenario…except i ddint go as far as the 12…i had the lions stopping at 6, and taking Haden

long shot

A long shot was the Saints ever winning a superbowl. Than this Joey Harrington getting in the Hall of Fame LOL

I'd love it if chocolate-covered hundred dollar bills fell from the sky

or if we were able to trade down in the first round and pick up extra picks like in this scenario.

But I just don’t think other teams will want to. It’s fun to dream though.

Mayhew should do something like this:

trade from #2 to #3 and pick up an extra second and fourth
trade from #3 to #4 and pick up an extra second and fifth
trade from #4 to #5 and pick up an extra second-round pick
trade from #5 to #6 and pick up an extra third and fourth
trade from #6 to #7 and pick up an extra third and fourth
trade from #7 to #8 and pick up an extra third and fourth
trade from #8 to #9 and pick up an extra third and fifth
trade from #9 to #10 and pick up an extra third and fifth
trade from #10 to #11 and pick up an extra third and sixth
trade from #11 to #12 and pick up an extra third
trade from #12 to #13 and pick up an extra third
trade from #13 to #14 and pick up an extra fourth and sixth
trade from #14 to #15 and pick up an extra fourth and sixth

We just have to hope that the Lions are the only team in the NFL with needs at multiple positions, and that every single team in the top 15 thinks that they are “one player away”, and that that “one player” that each team covets just happens to be on the board every time the Lions are on the clock, and that nobody except Mayhew and us on PoD realize that this is a deep draft.

Is that too much to hope for?

Hey, I made Ryan Leaf and Major Applewhite look great in Madden, lol

Of course, on the other hand, I invented defensive packages and alignments that were copied years later by real NFL coaches. Are people spying on me? (looks out window)

sweet

this would be amazing. This could really get Detroit going in two years. If this happens dont be surprised to see Detroit in the positive section in wins in two years

2nd pick

If the Rams get their pick signed early, that gives us a better chance to have a team give us a couple of picks for our #2.

Management...

Would go from tools to joe cools in two drafts, if they could pull something off that asinine

with the draft being spaced out

to three days… trades could happen.. be prepared….. This could be a huge draft for the Lions!!!! I can’t wait

GO LIONS in 2010! the transformation starts now.. they have much to do.

by DINORDO on Feb 8, 2010 5:33 PM EST reply actions

I don't think a multitide of trades like that will happen

But, maybe one or two of those trades could. You never know. More picks would be an absolute blessing.
