Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Kevin Jones Released by the Bears

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned his name since his release.  According to the Chicago Sun Times, Kevin Jones was released from the Bears a few days ago.  I was just wondering, with the Lions lack of veteran backup help for Kevin Smith and the lack of free agent running backs, would it be a good move to bring Kevin in for a one year contract to be a backup?  I'm against it for a couple of reasons.  One, I think he is way to injury prone and would be a waste if he was injured again in the pre-season. Two, I don't think he is the correct alternative for the Lions in obtaining a running back because the draft is really where they should find one.  Maybe someone can convince me otherwise.

If they wanted to sign a guy who's always injured

I’m available.

Approximately 3 1/2 months

But I could probably shave a few seconds off if I moved the fridge to the other side of the room first.

I look at it like this

Being a business man, if I had an employee that I paid X amount of dollars for and decided they weren’t giving me the production I needed out of a person being payed that much and decided to let them go, would it be a good idea to see if that person wanted to come back and work for me again at a lower pay? No. I’m fully against “bringing back” players. Shaun Rogers, Dre Bly, Kevin Jones, sorry, you weren’t good enough then and you didn’t get any better. Lets move on.

But Shaun Rogers...

…made 2 Pro Bowls with the Lions. I’d hardly call that “not good enough”.

And Dre Bly made 2.

NO

He had his shot. He blew it. It’s like the guy is made out of aluminum, if he stays healthy enough to play half a season I would be shocked.

No, I think you pretty much got it. :-)

Hey that's a timeout, I can play right? yeah, get me--get the F-- Help me up...I can throw the ball if you need me to throw the ball...

I think if kevin could have stayed healthy

he would have been a solid back but I think he should retire just for his own good.

Torn

Awsome we could solve alot of our issues. I still have his Lions jersey. I am sick of buying detroit jerseys and not being able to wear them for more than a season or two. Ben Wallace is back but I have three of his jerseys with the number 3 on them. I have four Joey Harrington jerseys. wait a minute, don’t we still need a back up QB. I just solved two problems. now we have a vet QB back up and a vet RB back up and i can wear my Joey jerseys again. Yes

Basically NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do still have my Kevin Jones jersey, so at least there is that

But the thought has crossed my mind to get a little "clever" with a scissors

until K.Smith’s knee injury. Now I’ll wait & see…

As a V-Tech fan

I would love to bring KJ back… I still have his VT and black Lions jerseys, haha… I really don’t think he’ll ever make and impact again, but he’s a former 1st rounder, who could possibly operate in a younger ‘Mike Bell-esque’ role.

Injury concerns

Plus he’s been here before. I doubt he’d want to return.

I didn't like the whole "clearing house"...

we went through in 2008- thought Kitna and Furrey were stand up guys who were just frustrated at poor management. Jones was part of that, too, but we’re different now. It’s time to move on-why the hell aren’t we throwing money at Thomas Jones?

by eirejoeh on Mar 10, 2010 11:18 PM EST reply actions

Oh, yeah...

any chance we’re bringing back Charles Rogers, so my wife isn’t mad at me for spending money on that jersey?

Dude your picture freaks me out.

I can just see Millen taking his mask off and looking like that LOL.

no way

he was subpar at best i liked it when we drafted him but he fell off to fast due to injury now if he would come back and teach the current players on what he has done. so this way they can learn on what not to do.. then i would think about it

Wonders how you produce 8 seasons of below .500 football and mange to keep your job as a gm.. here's 1 man wondering what kind of black mail Millen had on the Ford family.
