ONE WORD

So I have been trying to think of an idea for something I can post weekly or whenever I feel like. Kind of a running Bit so my thought today was I give the POD one player, subject, thought what have you. You guys get ONE WORD to describe your thoughts. Tell me what you think. Kinda Liked the Trivia that was going around lately and we need more topics the Berry or Suh (song not included) or Mock Drafts so lets get creative folks.

So my first topic was gonna just be Staff but thats to easy I wanted to make you have to think about it a little harder than that so I was gonna post my mock draft LOL. I decided maybe I won't do that so here it goes.

We all know the Kyle Vanden Bosch is a Detroit Lion. He is wearing the number 93 which last year was retired after we sadly lost Corey Smith at Sea. How do you feel about Kyle wearing Coreys Number only a year after he was lost?

Little side note ( I always liked Corey thought he was a tough kid that really worked hard.)

idk

I don’t think I can do it with one word. It’s like that Simpsons where Mr. Burns demand that Homer explain why he should not be fired without using the letter “e”

Homer responds:

I’m a good…work…guy

I don’t know what an appropriate statute is on how long you suspend the use of a jersey number in the event of a tragedy like this. Maybe it would be appropriate for Vanden Bosch to seek something like a blessing from family and teammates who were close to Smith before using his jersey number, I don’t know.

Hey that's a timeout, I can play right? yeah, get me--get the F-- Help me up...I can throw the ball if you need me to throw the ball...

by n4ry4 on Mar 11, 2010 4:29 PM EST reply actions

I don't think that's necessary...

Wasn’t he released before the boating accident?

Look, I’m sorry he’s not around, but that’s no fault of the Lions’ organization. He was a simple mediocre player, who is no longer around.

I like that they had his # on their helmets, but he’s not Barry sanders for crying out loud.

they did say they were in negotions for him to return

Was it Lenny? Huh, I’m misremembering things

Burns heir

When Bart was selected to inherit mr burns money they were firing employees. Mr burns fires lenny " let’s make this sporting leonard tell me why I shouldn’t fire you without using the letter E". Lenny says “I’m a good eh work..guy” Burns says “your fired” Lenny " But I didn’t use the letter ( burns says O WELL) eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ( Lenny drops through a hole in the floor. Its sad but I know my simpsons.

Now I’m recalling the scene.

If you did that from memory, I’m impressed!

Why even retire his # then, that is a slap in the face to his family

Maybe they should have just wore his jersey number on there unifrom instead of retire it in the first place !!

by Joey-P on Mar 11, 2010 4:30 PM EST reply actions

It wasn't retired

They simply didn’t have anybody wear it for the 2008 season to honor him.

Didn't know that.

I would have thought it was wrong without the consent of his family but since it’s not. Give it to KVB.

by Quez81 on Mar 11, 2010 6:35 PM EST up reply actions

They wore the #93 on their helmet...

ALL YEAR LONG LAST YEAR… where were you?…lol

by CLF on Mar 11, 2010 4:33 PM EST up reply actions

Honorable

That is if Vanden Bosch makes some kind of gesture as to its previous owner sometime… he doesn’t have to but it’d be cool if he like dedicated his first sack or something to Corey.
I also thought about using perfect as my one word, but that was more pertaining to how the organization handled the tragedy. Corey was a great blue collar teammate, not a superstar but the likes of DeVries and Schlesinger come to mind — not the best players ever but hard workers whose work ethic made them NFLers, not sole ability, and Corey was working his way to becoming a lifetime Lion in the same type of role, in my opinion. However, Corey wasn’t really a household name, so I can see that retiring his jersey forever would have been a little over the top, but a one-year suspension of the # was “perfect.”
RIP Corey Smith

+1 that would be awesome

I would love to see KVB do something to that effect. Or say opening day come out carrying coreys jersey on the 50 yard line. Something to recognize it. Like its been said he dosen’t have too he wasn’t even here. I would be nice for the fans and family though.

Make the Sack

Then have a someone tear his name off his uniform, revealing Corey`s name under it for the rest of the game. A little too much Chad Johnson there but in the preseason it should not be a problem especially at home.

by lionsfan64 on Mar 11, 2010 8:35 PM EST up reply actions

that would be very cool

Vandenbosch should represent him well in 2010

GO LIONS in 2010! the transformation starts now.. they have much to do.

by DINORDO on Mar 11, 2010 7:58 PM EST reply actions

Why?

Was KVB a Lion when he went down? didn’t we already honor him by putting his # on our helmets that year??? Do we still have a thumbs up Mike Utley symbol on our field? No you move on and do a Sunday game day segment with Terry Bradshaw and it’s over. It was tragic but do the Vikes still honor Stringer???? You move on. just like I am from this silliness.

How many lumps you want Doc?
