Possible bad news for Lions>Suh

Jason La Canfora just posted on his twitter that the Redskins have been in talks with the Rams about DT Adam Carriker.

This spells bad news for the Lions as the Rams will most likely have no excuse not to select Suh if this deal goes through. I still think they're better off with a quarterback but we'll have to wait and see.

Star-divide

I don't see this going through at all especially with Carriker being as young as he is and the Redskins already having millions, thanks to Haynesworth, locked up on that front.

Love it

Perfectly done Skins/Rams… gives us absolutely no excuse not to draft “the player who shall remain nameless.” (That better Drews? just messin lol).

No... not better... lol

It’s gettin’ bad when you start rooting for Suh NOT to be there just to further your agenda. I think it’s because you really do know that they will take Suh over Berry, so the only way you might get to see what you want is for Suh to be gone. C’mon… admit it…………

I think

it will possibly be a move if they throw in Campbell to the rams.

by Quez81 on Mar 11, 2010 6:37 PM EST reply actions

It doesn't necessarily rule out Suh for us

They still may take a QB…

media tricks?

excellent strategy to get lower teams to perhaps move up.. throw teams off to potential moves that were not considered… until the move happens.. it’s all talk.. but lets hope not in case it is true

GO LIONS in 2010! the transformation starts now.. they have much to do.

That was my thought at first so hope it’s nothing but “talks”.

This is really stupid...

I am pretty sure that Adam Carriker, whether he is traded or not, it not going to effect whether they select a QB or Suh.

I PROMISE everyone that IF Bradford looks like a franchise QB they will pick him over Suh. If he doesn’t, they will take Suh. Period and end of story. Neither Carriker nor any other defensive player coming or going is going to change that fact.

They averaged 10 points per game last year, and Suh nor any other defensive player is not going to change that—-nor is waiting for a “i hope he works out” qb in the 2nd round.

well,

I think the only way they trade carriker is if they feel that Suh is the real deal, so ya if this trade does go through, then chances are pretty high they take Suh at 1

They recently signed a DT for $4 mil per year for 3 years

Possibly because they either knew they were going to trade Carriker or because they are otherwise done with him.

Even if they do trade him

The Rams have drafted 3 DT’s in the past 3 drafts in the first round. So who cares if they trade him, like you said FOOTSTOCK the Rams problems are ALL on the O-side of the ball not on the D-side.Unless they are playing our Lions 16 times next year their offence is still going to be in the bottom 5 of the league with their current QB’s and lack of WR’s on that team.

Actually, it kind of tells me...

that they want to shed some of that money in the D-Line…. that’s all. Why would they trade Carriker just to replace the same position in the draft? Looks to me like they are just trying to get more picks to fill all those holes. I really read nothing into this move… they still take Bradford in my mind.

by DrewsLions on Mar 12, 2010 8:14 PM EST up reply actions

Mine too Drew!

Where as our teams biggest weakness is on the D-side of the ball. Theirs is even more obvious that it is an offencive problem. No QB now that Bulger has happy feet, NO real WR with any real skills, A O-line that is so so, I can’t see how they pass up Bradford with them probably seeing most of his College career right down the road.

Wait for his Pro-Day.

However Bradford looks at his Pro-Day will probably determine the direction the Rams take. If everyone is raving about his arm (after seeing him throw for the first time in months), then it’s probably a done deal…regardless of what the Rams will try to put out there.

Yeah, I think...

we’ll know a lot more after his Pro Day. I think that’s when the REAL talk of Bradford to the Rams starts. If he’s lights out, it’s just a formality and you’ll just see some weak posturing like the Lions did with Curry last year. Done deal, IMO.

by DrewsLions on Mar 12, 2010 8:15 PM EST up reply actions

Man, if only we had Carriker

then we wouldn’t need Suh either.

I don’t think the rams choice on if they draft Suh is going to come down to if they have Carriker on the roster or not.

You're kidding, right?

if we only had Carriker, then we wouldn’t need Suh. You know he has been a BUST in St Louis right?

Yes I am kidding

I read this post as saying “Uh Ohs! STL just traded away Carriker to make room for Suh!” I don’t think the presence or absence of Carriker means anything to a GM thinking about Suh.

by ATL Lion on Mar 12, 2010 6:39 PM EST up reply actions

if suh's not there mccoy will be...

i saw mccoy’s interview at the combine and i was impressed with him. whatever the rams do the lions will be able to get a playmaker for the Dline. unless they blow it and take a OT…

Kingdaddy

I agree with you hole heartedly, But when you draft a franchise QB the smart money is to get the best possible LT as quickly as possibly, even with Kong being there I think that there is about a 40% chance that we take Okung. And if Kong is gone I’d say that it’s about 80% chance that we take a possible franchise LT at the #2 spot. Not that I want him cause I really don’t. I want BERRY and then Kong, But no GM in his right mind is going to pass on a DT/LT at the #2 spot. And in any other year I’d think that Okong would be a Lead Pipe Lock for us at the #2 spot. Backus isn’t young enough to let a guy with this kind of Hype to pass us bye but a guy like Kong should take ALL PRIORITY away from a franchise LT pick at the #2 spot. It would be no better than if Millen was back at the helm drafting WR with the top pick in 3 consecutive years.

And the 'Skins just got M'ake Komoeteau

I think that’s how you spell his name. I doubt they want Carriker on top of it……

by lionsman81 on Mar 12, 2010 3:20 PM EST reply actions

you may be right with your post davis169 that the lions will draft suh or okung at 2pick in the draft . if you are the gm of the lions you might go left ot in this draft with the 2pick in this draft . ithink okung will be the pick in 1rd beause thier are so manny dt and ss/fs in this draft . if your lions gm you know one of 5 dt will fall out of the 1rd in draft so you can draft him in 2rd my list of dt is ndamuhong suh dt/gerald mccoy dt/jared odrickdt/dan williamsdt/terrence cody dt for those who say the lions should draft berry with the 2pick in draft why would you if your the lions gm when you could draft this delmas in 2rdor 3rd players like majior wrightfs/darrellstuckeyss/morgan burrnett ss/chadjonesfs/nate allenfs just to name a few who have a great chance to be thisyear delmas. so with all the great left ot are in this draft and next years class is bad for left ot in draft .if you are the lions you pick bpa at lleft ot in this draft witch is russrell okung.
