suh or berry oe McCoy will be the pick.. likely suh i am confident in that just from what KVB and JS said.. kvb talks to dam much lol

but yea when you have the worst ranked D to years in a row at nearly every category.. and close to last for like 5 years before that.. you need D.. Backus is ranked as the 6th best LT and like 12 best OT accord to PFF.. so okung doesn’t make much sense.. and we dont have that big of a problem scoring so agen O side don’t make much sense..

rams take QB in the mock i am asuming??

So do I guys

But let’s look at this without our pride on the line here. If Kong is gone, I can’t see any FO taking a safety over a possible stud at LT when we just drafted a possible frachise QB in the last draft. Again I want BERRY over both of them but I just can’t see any GM keeping his job long if he was to pass over 2 Key positions like DT and LT to take a safety. i’ll even put stupid ass McCoy above Berry just because he would make more sence also. At #2 that is. Like I said there is 2 other safety’s that are close in talent to Berry in this draft and 2 of them could very well be there when we draft in the 2nd round.

See I'm just not sold on the LT

I’d rather see them grab a LG in the 2nd or 3rd. BUT if we sign Pitts then I would be good with Okung. Our o-line could go from a weakness to a strength with those two.

Mayes and

I think his name was Thomas I know he was the Safety from Texas so I might have the wrong name but the kid from the longhorns. Like I said I think his name is Thomas (EARL?) 1 of these 2 guys may slip to us in the second round. They are both better than average Safety’s and I might be wrong and all 3 of them could be gone by the time we draft, and if they all are gone good then that would mean more CB’s would be there for us to choose from in the second round.

Earl Thomas will be gone in the 1st round for sure...

Mayes is confusing. Unbelievable measureables, but his performance on the field isn’t congruent with his size-speed-strength. Like 2 int’s the last 3 years?

USC had big leads alot, and that forced teams to have to throw more than they wanted to in addition to early and often. But he made very few plays.

Mike Lombardi said on the NFL network that he looks great but can he play football. His suggestion was to move him to weak side LB and just let him use his speed and strength to get after the ball.

Not exactly a resounding endorsement. I don’t think I want him in any round.

Just give me 25 guys on the last year of their contracts; I'll win a pennant every year....Sparky Anderson

Meh

The poll is who you like. I think it is saying that there are lots of people who like taking a DT, preferably Suh. After that, there are some people who would like an OT, Okung is the one listed. If you were to take Suh out, many of his votes would go to the other DT (McCoy) and many would go to a new option (Berry or Okung).

If you put up another poll (and I’m sure someone has done this already on this site) witht he same players except deleting Suh, I am willing to bet Ralphgoblue and everything that comes with him that Okung is not the winner.

by ATL Lion on Mar 12, 2010 11:16 AM EST up reply actions

You know me ATL

Berry/Kong as my wish list, but the more I listen to everyone I beleave it will go Kong if gone then Okung, we would almost HAVE to take him if Kong is gone just because we do actually need a LT other than Backus. Suh/Okung/Berry/McCoy in that order. No matter HOW BAD I WANT BERRY!

Okung

We need to finish building around Stafford in order for him to stay healthy and develop, then turn our full attention to defense.

by Joey-P on Mar 12, 2010 4:34 PM EST reply actions

Here's the 1 hang up I have with that notion

That’s exactly what Matt Millen tryed to do and that put us back a decade that this FO is trying to fix.Don’t get me wrong if we had a lights out offence I would be geeked up every Sunday, But with no D there is no O. Cause they just wont be able to get onto the field. Case in point Every single game in the last 5 years. I am just so tired of watching a piss poor D that I am hoping that our FO sells the farm to get us 1 that is respectable again. When we can start beating the teams we should beat, then let’s go get the rest of the Offence. But again, give me a week and I’m sure I will change my mind. The best offence does not guarantee a championship just ask the patriots of 3 years ago. And the Cards of 2 years ago, And the Colts last year. Without D you just don’t win Championships, all you do is fill seats and Millen did that just fine for WCF Sr. Time to try it a different way.

How many lumps you want Doc?

by davis0169 on Mar 12, 2010 5:14 PM EST reply actions

Thats the best argument i have hurd so far .....

The only thing I say to that is Mayhew and Schwartz doing the picking is not even close to compairing Millen and his lack of production.

by Joey-P on Mar 12, 2010 6:23 PM EST up reply actions

i wouldn't necessarily blame the philosophy: O before D

I am also VERY tired of watching that D get pounded.

but IMO, i don’t think we failed under Millen just because we emphasized offense very early in drafts to complement Harrington. more precisely I think we can attribute failure to our poor selections. we took the wrong guys.

i strongly believe that our offense was also very ineffective—putting our defense in very tough situations. both sides of the ball need some big upgrades in talent that should improve how the other side of the ball performs. without some upgrades, i have almost no confidence in this offense to get into rhythm and not get bogged down into 3rd and longs.

don’t take this as a vote for Okung though. i’m strongly leaning towards Suh at #2, and McCoy or Berry if Suh goes to Rams.

Can I say this sanchize

I find it wierd well sad really that only after what was it 3 games. Jets fans were calling there QB sanchize how does he get a nickname for being a rookie QB LOL. It just bugged me I guess maybe I am alon in this but why we belive satfford os are franchise QB we weren’t calling Stafford tough or anything like that in week 2. ( I kinda like that one actually). Anyway I like Berry alot but I think lately Suh seems to make more sense I am torn here but right now I am leaning towards Suhing your ass LOL.

Well Sanchez looked really promising after 3 games, everybody was on the bandwagon. He hit a big rough patch from weeks 4 – 12 and then matured after that. I think he is the future of our franchise, per the name Sanchize. It also sounds good and not awkward like TheStaffize. That sounds terrible.

by TheSanchize6 on Mar 12, 2010 9:30 PM EST up reply actions

So does STAFFinfection

But he’s INFECTED all of us with a shit load of hope!!!! And can I ask you a question about Sanchez in reguards to your statement on him maturing? Didn’t the coach basically tell him to turn around and hand the ball off at the end of the season?? Is that really maturing?? Or is Eating Hot-Dogs on the sideline Maturing? Face it you guys got to where you got last year because you played lights out defence and RAN THE BALL with that damn good O-Line! What are you guys going to do this year with out T. Jones? Do you think that 1 guy can take the hole load for an entire season or do you guys have a hidden gem that we didn’t get to see last year because Jones was there. I mean I got to see a few JETS games but you are a fan and most likely got too see every game.

Sanchez stopped turning the ball over in the last few weeks of the season and the playoffs. And Shonn Greene(dudes a beast) is our RB of the futrue, him along with Leon Washington and LT(when we sign him). Let me ask you a question – how do you have hope with a guy who threw 20 into’s in 11 or 12 games. give him another 4-5 games and you got close to or 30 into’s. How does he give you hope?, he showed nothing but bad decision making the whole year. Granted, he did have a good game vs. the Browns. Great ending too with the toughnes he showed but still.

J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!!!!!!!!!!!

by TheSanchize6 on Mar 13, 2010 4:05 PM EST up reply actions

LOL because we have too.

We have nothing else to cling to anymore (some sarcasam). I am not bashin on sanchez. We have just seen things from Stafford we have not seein in any QB in along time. The browns came proved he was tough and will never give up. He has a rocket arm and potential like we haven;t seen in years. Last and certainly not least a great leader and refuses to accept losing on a team where its almost been a religon.

11 of his INT's were after we were down by 10 or more points...

How many times were the Jets down by 10 this year?

Staff is a gamer, and he would rather let it rip to try and bring the team back than to worry about stats.

The thing people outside of Detroit can’t see is that the circumstances surrounding his INT’s actually caused his INT’s. It’s a tough go to have a fever to win, and be down by 14 in the second quarter so often.

This wasn’t the case with gang green, and if I was a Jets fan I would be SUPER concerned to have provided Sanchize with such a great team and have him still throwing so many picks in a dink and dunk offense.

Since you only saw him play twice this year (the NFL replay of the Browns game and the Thanksgiving day game where he played with a bad knee and a separated shoulder) you aren’t really qualified to say that he showed bad decision making all year. You are just like most other ignorant new yorkers; running your mouth without real facts and spewing BS you heard someplace else.

Put Staff on the Jets and he would have thrown for 3500 yards, 25 TD’s, and 13 picks. And there isn’t one Lions fan here that would trade Staff for your little prima donna figurehead you call the future.

We won’t be able to compete with you this year; but before all is said and done Stafford will make his mark on the game and prove that he is far superior to your little cover boy QB.
