63

Anyone who wants Okung/Berry/Spiller/Mccoy think about this.....

63......

63 times in four years Suh has tackled the ball carrier behind the line of scrimage.

63 times he has stoped a play before it got started.

63 times he has made a play that confounded the offensive line and offensive coordinator

63 times...

I will be happy with McCoy, Berry or Okung if the Rams take Suh...but if he is there, and the Lions don't draft him, I will be very disappointed

listening to schwartz PC today

i’m convinced that they are still gonna draft BPA and aren’t gonna deviate from that no matter how glaringly we need help on the OL. which means suh will be the pick barring a trade back.

by DR GRUBE on Mar 12, 2010 3:50 PM EST reply actions

No offense, but...

None of us have any idea who is rated as the BPA on the Lions draft board. According to your logic Aaron Curry would’ve been a lock to go 1st overall to the Lions last year.

What I’m getting at is this: Okung may be rated higher than Suh on the Lions draft board because of positional value.

63 times in 4 years is a lot

That stat blows my mind.

that doesn't even

include stops for no gain. or 1-2 yard first and 3rd down stops.

OR

the 2 pick 6’s that he had last year, he has better than average speed for a guy of his speed. I’m just curious if anyone has looked up how many batted balls he’s had in his 4 years at NEB. How many QB hurry’s he’s had would be nice to know as well, if there even is a stat for him in his 4 years.I agree with you guys that we can’t pass on Kong no matter how bad I still want Berry with the 2 pick and If Kong is gone I really can’t see us taking Berry over Okung due to the importance of protecting Staff.

Agreed

Suh has to be the pick if he’s there. But I’m afraid they will be trading out of that pick. And depending on what they get with the trade, I will be happy with Okung.

Thanks, I wasn't going for that..

But i’ll take it

To much talent at #2 ???

I would dare to say if we take either Suh, Berry or Okung that we will greatly improve our team and there will be just as many arguments for the player we pick as for the 2 we did not. Good year to be were we are, the draft is deep enough that trading down will forever have the same argument of why we did it vs. we could have had the 3 above.

considering schwartz is a coach that studies the numbers. . .

this is one of the most telling stats i have seen. . .nice research

Gotta give credits

One of the other commenters over at Black Heart Gold Pants posted the numbers during the Heisman season, just thought I’d share ’em over here

Love this stat

nice find Hawkfan (Iowa fan? Really? Oh well), I had been teetering back and forth as to whether Suh or Okung should be the pick, but this is the difference-maker. Suh needs to be the guy.

by motown313 on Mar 13, 2010 1:27 PM EST up reply actions

HAHA, Yeah, Iowa fan

Born in Iowa City and lived in Iowa my whole life. Lions mainly cuz Barry was the first player that ever stood out in my football memory and just haven’t let it go.

I like Suh alot

But college stats don’t mean to much really.

True

Lots of dominant college players don’t do so well at the next level. Suh looks a goodin.

The Bringers of Hope: Stafford - Delmas - C. Johnson - Pettigrew - Levy - Hill - Schwartz
Zack Follett: he will hurt your mind.

no those

numbers won’t translate. give me 1/3 of them though and I’ll take it. can’t say the same for McCoy.

Well...one season stats

is different that sustained superior preformance….. and suh has that

by CapitolLions on Mar 12, 2010 9:42 PM EST up reply actions

Those stats say it all

Get your KING KONG jerseys now. Maybe I’ll get lucky and we will get Mayes in the second round then I can still have 1 of the guys I liked last year, next to Delmas, But I think a CB or Guard is going to be the pick in the second round.

How many lumps you want Doc?

im saying cb fersure

1st rd SUHHHH 2nd rd Kyle wilson 3rd RD RB best available

by DetroitLions 4 life on Mar 13, 2010 1:05 PM EST up reply actions

Same here DL4L

UNless one of a small handful of LT’s or LG’s are there at the 34 spot then I’m all for getting Staff his protection. We need Kong and then CB, and I still want an elite DE to replace Averil or Hunter, but I don’t think anyone is going to slip into the 2nd round.

I know the college stats won't translate directly BUT

I think passing up Suh would equate passing up Lawrence Taylor or Reggie White and we’ll be kicking ourselves for YEARS if we don’t take him.

let me sea how manny sacks has backus give up for lions as the starting lt how manny times have we bitch about the lions not replaceing bachus in pod posts.

Well

you can start with almost every single draft in the Millen era, the last draft we passed on them 2 times. Just starting the count for you.

lol

Oh you didn't know?? You're ass better CALLLLLLLL SOMEBODY!!!!!

by KDawg on Mar 14, 2010 10:22 PM EDT up reply actions

It would be nice if....

The scouting combine put players in drills in pads against each other. Then we would truly see who can perform the best in a game environment.

The Senior Bowl was converted into a college all star bowl where the NFL teams pick the players, similar to how the prow bowl is done for the NFL. Each team would get ten ballots. That way each team could give multiple personnel input. With that many even the owner can put their two cents in. Players with the top number of votes would get the positions in the game.

I could see tape of Suh and Okung going head to head, mano y mano.

by Evilsmurf on Mar 14, 2010 4:59 AM EST reply actions

What if the Lions...

Invited Suh and Okung to Detroit on the same day and interviewed them together. Maybe they could even hand them both a set of pads and a helmet and say here, go at it, whoever wins is the #2 pick.

by Evilsmurf on Mar 14, 2010 5:01 AM EST reply actions

That wouldn't be fair to Okung

A LT isn’t use to having to block a DT especially one that has Kongs skill set. It would be like me playing basketball against Jason Richards. I use him since when he was a little kid back at Arthur Hill High school I use to play against him and his friends, Difference is we were older by a few years and we would put the woopass on them. I don’t think it would be the same anymore….. I’m sure I’d be eating his Jock. A side of Ketchup please!!!!!

That's a FUN idea Evil...

I think Suh would open up a can of whoop-ass on him. Mash him up in a little ball and roll him down the field for a perfect strike right between the goal posts!
