Pac Man Jones?

Jason La Canfora is reporting that the Lions along with the Niners are showing the most interest towards Adam Pac Man Jones. He is still young and will be 27 in September.

I think it would be a good move considering the lack of depth we have at the position, not to mention the return ability he brings, if he still has it off course. Bring him in for a tryout and see if he makes the team. Whats there to lose right?

I agree ..

If he looks good enough to keep, sign him for 1yr to see if he can keep his nose clean. You can never have a " PERFECT " NFL locker room. There is always going to be a few trouble makers around. He has kept his nose clean for a while. When he last got into trouble, was him drunk in his OWN hotel room with his body gaurd/ friend. So what ! I think he is still a bit of trouble but has been a good, quite player, staying under the radar. I say give him a shot. He became a huge play maker and defender under Schwartz. Maybe he can do it again.

yes, nice short deal with some big money motivators.

wonder if he would contribute in return game or play safety?

by x$pcents IV on Mar 13, 2010 2:43 AM EST up reply actions

Wonder what the incentives would be

Maybe a stripper pole in the locker room? Go-Go dancers on the sidelines instead of those high-school cheerleaders. His own personal stripper to wipe the sweat off his head, and to give him gatorade? Just some of the incentives that might be manditory in his contract.

I really like Bullocks. He showed some flash his last few games before the injury. He was very effective those last few games he played and under Schwartz, I don’t see why he can’t excel since he usually gets his guys to play to their best.

However, it’s a question mark right now and I don’t see him keeping us away from an Eric Berry.

High Character, "football guys"

got us into this mess in the first place. Make it rain, baby. Gobble up some balls, Pac-Man.

Yeah Charles Rogers

was a really high character “football guy,” wait……

by IAmGross on Mar 13, 2010 12:40 AM EST up reply actions

that is TERRIBLE logic

The picks and choices of the millen era, as a whole, were the reults of the 0 – 16 season. Not the fact that we didnt have any felons on our team, which if you look at the lions past, was never a problem.

by IAmGross on Mar 13, 2010 12:13 PM EST up reply actions

You have to be kidding me!

Pacman has nothing left! Also, he’s got to many problems. Even Dallas couldn’t handle him anymore.

by coolbreeze42 on Mar 12, 2010 9:39 PM EST reply actions

Pacman has nothing left!

Really… can you show me some video backing that up? I for one haven’t seen him play in 2 years.

Same with Campbell…. he must be washed up also.

by CLF on Mar 13, 2010 12:08 PM EST up reply actions

He had nothing left when he was on the Cowboys.

He had a really bad season. He consistently got beat and couldn’t tackle. That’s why he got cut after one season. He was good last time he worked with Schwartz though, so who knows maybe he can get something out of Pac-Man.

2 things

Jones hasn’t been able to be his old Tennesee self sense his 1 year suspension. and second EVEN if he was while we are rebuilding a team of young guys the last we need to do is go out and sign a garunteed locker room problem. He already got in a fight with his OWN body gaurd whats stopping him from beating up a teammate at this point.

There is no such thing as a guarantee, just ask the Green Bay Packers about Tony Mandarich or the Portland Trail Blaizers about Sam Bowie. Give him a chance maybe he has grown up and he will be a pro bowler…or it will blow up in our face, what do we have to lose. I mean we have won 2 games in 2 years gotta do something

I don't like it one bit...

…but I trust Schwartz, who has history with him.

GO LIONS! RESTORE THE ROAR!

by Twon82 on Mar 13, 2010 1:26 AM EST reply actions

I'm not really sure Jones will ever be the same guy he was before the suspension

in terms of his awareness and football sense, I don’t really know what kind of effect being away from the game that long can have on a guy, but it can’t be good. There’s a lot more to playing CB than raw athleticism, just ask Phillip Buchanon.

But hey, if he looks good, he’s worth a flyer in my book. Can’t be any worse than what we got now.

by WestsideLionsFan on Mar 13, 2010 2:20 AM EST reply actions

Sure, he's young and talented

But is it worth it? I just don’t know if he’s got his mind focused on the game…

Who cares???

If he fucks up get rid of him. If he doesn’t we have a Pro Bowl caliber talent.

You mean when he fucks up?

Do we seriously want to keep this guy close to Detroit and Windsor??? Its a nightmare waiting to happen.

by Mango26 on Mar 13, 2010 8:53 AM EST up reply actions

+1

Windsor is a paradise for this guy nothin but casinos and strip clubs. REAL strip clubs.

Fuck I don't think he'd make it past

What is it 7mile or 11 mile road in Detroit. Beware all strippers Pac-Man is loose in the city again; That’s what the Headlines would read in the Detroit Free Press after every home game.

get him

you can drop him if he does not perform

GO LIONS in 2010! the transformation starts now.. they have much to do.

by DINORDO on Mar 13, 2010 2:50 AM EST reply actions

Actually

if he performs well at his tryout and the Lions get him over the 49ers… it WILL shift our CB focus to the draft to the 3rd/4th rounds…. If a FA RB is not picked up then I think it will move the Rb DRAFT priority to 2nd/3rd round,

1. so DT (suh)
2. best RB avail? (or OL if not addressed soon)
3. CB/OL/S
4. BAP
5. BAP
7. BAP

Your thoughts? We are getting closer to the draft… and I’m getting more excited…

GO LIONS in 2010! the transformation starts now.. they have much to do.

by DINORDO on Mar 13, 2010 9:19 AM EST reply actions

I say sign him

at this point, he is DESPERATE to get back into the league. I can’t guarantee, because we are talking about Pacman here, but I feel very confident that if he was given one more shot in the league he wouldn’t screw it up. He’s got too much riding on it this time to make any mistakes.

by motown313 on Mar 13, 2010 11:24 AM EST reply actions

How many chances does one man deserve?

It’s obvious to me he doesn’t give a shit about his NFL career so why waste anything on this guy? How many chances does the league have to give this guy before he gets it right? As far as I’m concerned he has gotten all the chances he deserves, I say fuck him, he is nothing but a fuckin wannabe gangsta and will never change. Sorry boys but you can’t polish a turd.

Let him go play in the CFL

Like a lot of other bad eggs that the NFL wont let play.

He also has some neck issues

I’m not sure of the exact injury… but in his last season with the cowboys, he got hit and actually lost feeling in his limbs from some type of neck stinger. I think it was a few days until he got full feeling back.

by coolbreeze42 on Mar 13, 2010 1:39 PM EST reply actions

I just read it was a Herniated disk (or two)

Hmmm… injury and attitude problems… what a great combination!

by coolbreeze42 on Mar 13, 2010 1:41 PM EST reply actions

Guys

I think what you’re missing is that because of his situation we could sign him for very, very little. And if he does mess up, you simply cut him. I don’t understand why everyone is so hesitant, this guy was a first-rounder and I don’t see how there really is any risk. It’s not like Calvin Johnson is gonna start shooting up strip clubs because of the influence of Pacman, and we desperately need some talented corners.

by motown313 on Mar 13, 2010 2:59 PM EST reply actions

take a chance

it cant hurt us it wouldnt hurt to have some depth so between what we got the draft and him along w/ some other talent that we can get he MAY make the team he MAY be a nickel or dime back and if he is the best player at that postion MAY be the starter and then he MAY be a probowler FO has done well so far i would like to keep upholding the trust i have put in them

Lions fan for life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wonders how you produce 8 seasons of below .500 football and mange to keep your job as a gm.. here's 1 man wondering what kind of black mail Millen had on the Ford family.

by lionsfan_772 on Mar 13, 2010 6:22 PM EST reply actions

The issue is not if he will get in trouble, it is if his troubles will effect the team.

For all I care he can blow his whole paycheck in strip bars every week, hell it would be good for the local economy! If the coaching staff is confident that he can contribute on the field and not be a detriment to the team with off the field issues then I say go for it.

On a side note, if we do sign him, from my past experience in Ford Engineering, the contract will probably be signed over many drinks in a strip bar.

by Evilsmurf on Mar 14, 2010 4:38 AM EST reply actions

Yeah... I think we need more thugs on this team!

Haha… right. I don’t know ‘bout this guy. If Schwartz brings him in, it’s because he thinks he can coach him. If that happens, I’ll be a tad excited because I think Schwartz is a guy with the Midas touch right now. If he can have Jones come in and REALLY believe this is his last shot in the NFL and motivate the guy… it’s a great move. But I have my doubts that even the great Schwartz can change this guy.

The other thing is the guy’s conditioning. I’ve heard rumors that he is really out of shape. For a player whose game is speed, they won’t even sniff this dude if he can’t blaze. I guess a signing would be really telling. It would say to me that he still has all the tangibles and only needs a wickedly hard kick in the ass.

Ohhhh Gunther? Can you take care of that?
