Hargrove?
http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&Show=SKILL&id=2816
Just the idea of bringing this lineman in for a look tells me that Mayhew is not playing around on Defense this offseason. Making sure that the D is being addressed, especially the line, is very encouraging to me. Anthony Hargrove showed he can make plays on the line. Gregg Williams probably was a help for coaching that D, and ended up turning a pathetic Defense in recent years to a playmaking Defense in 09'....I still think we should draft Suh like many people, but if Hargrove becomes a Lion in 2010, then trading down will be first priority in the draft. We would then draft Okung and slide Backus inside. With the addition of trading down, another pick would be given to us and hopefully at least another high 2nd rounder and give or take 3rd or 4th rounder.
After picking up Okung
Find away to get Kyle Wilson CB Boise St! Flip our 2nd round pick and the other pick from the trade down most likely another 2nd rounder and pick up this man!!!!
Chris Houston is good, but not a quality everydown starter.
Wade played on a shitty Rams team, in which he got cut, sooooo im not to encouraged about this man taking care of the 2 CB position.
Although we would give up a 3rd rounder for Hargrove, he will be yet another lineman to put pressure on the QB. FYI hes 26 years old
Remember Lions Fans.......We were horrible on both lines of the ball. Stafford always getting murked in the backfield because of poor line play. And every QB that we went up against made them look like Peyton every week. WTF BRADY QUINN owned us because we werent pressuring him at all!!!
Every Good team starts off by having a Good line on both sides of the ball.
We would grab our LT, another Pass rusher, and potentially a good quality CB for years to come!
Its not sexy we have to sacrifice an offseason to address the ugly positions, but it will benefit.....TRUST ME!!!!! I'm just as a hardcore Lions fan as anybody else!!!!!!

actually I'm convinced Wade is pretty terrible.
If THE RAMS didn’t think a guy was good enough to play for them, isn’t that a serious cause for concern?
No you are right in the fact
That its not sexy but it would help. I just think with all the backing schwartz gave Backus and Okung himself I just have a hard time beliving we take him at all. Maybe we could get Berry yet or even Haden. If we could find away to get Joe Haden, Trent Williams and Kyle Wilson we have are secondary for many years and we get a great Left Tackle as well. Its far fetched but I suppose okung is a possibilty just not one I am sold on yet.
How do you keep a running back out of your secondary? You put up a LEVY.
If we DO trade down, I would be all about Haden

if lions pick up anthony hargrove for a3rd pick in draft they will try to move the 2pick in this draft. they will do it one of two ways the1st way is to trade with tbor was to move dowend to the 3 pick or pick4 inthe draft . tb would give lions maybee a 2rd pick to move up but was might give the lions two picks most likely a 2rd and 4rdpick.
the 2st way the lions might go is to trade with cle for 7pick in draft and a butch of draft picks say like say for two 3rdpicks and two 4rd picksinthis draft.for the 2pick inthis draft.if lions stay put at 2pick ithink they will go ot with pick .
Grammar
Its a beatiful thing. LOL sorry but I don’t understand any of that.

let me see if I can clear this up alittle...
tbor= Tampa Bay
was to move dowend= Trading with TB would move us down to the third pick
tb would give lions maybee a 2rd pick to move up but was might give the lions two picks most likely a 2rd and 4rdpick. = If a trade were to happen with TB. The Lions could end up with (2) second round pick (2) forth rounds picks. And the third overall.
the 2st way = The second way.
7pick in draft and a butch of draft picks = 7th pick and a bunch of other draft picks.
two 3rdpicks and two 4rd picksinthis draft= (2) third round picks, and (2) forth round picks.
for the 2pick inthis draft.if lions stay put at 2pick ithink they will go ot with pick = If the Lions stay put at #2. They will draft a offensive tackle.

im not convinced your a hardcore lions fan
just kidding…
great read and great scenarios, i would love to get suh but the possibilitys opened up if we trade down cant be ignored…
I get my ass kicked for money, all you gotta do is talk motherfucker.... Rampage Pride GP03
thumbs up
for Mayhew…. the trading down scenario may actually have life? The question? What team wants to move up and can we still get the player we want? The draft date is getting more and more intriguing… i can’t wait still over a month to go… GRRRRRRR I’m going to go crazy!!!!
GO LIONS in 2010! the transformation starts now.. they have much to do.
If we trade down I think its more about playerS we want...thats why I hope we trade down.
I would love to see us get next years 1st rounder for a 1st rounder this year. I would go for Kyle Wilson this year with that trade. If we got him and moved down, getting more picks, we could really turn the team around.
A few comments...
First, although the Lions may be presented with several offers to trade down due to the amount of QB-needy teams in the draft (Washington at 4, Seattle at 6, Cleveland at 7), unless Mayhew can deal with Washington I doubt we’ll land Okung.
Second, Chris Houston, who is only 26 and a former 2nd round draft pick, should be a quality starter, and may blossom in Cunningham’s press-coverage scheme. With the departure of Buchanon, he’s now arguably the best Cornerback on the roster.
Third, I wouldn’t be totally against the trade for Hargrove; he had a very productive year for the Saints. He’s had substance abuse issues, however, and that’s something I don’t believe you ever fully recover from. Not to make a joke, but a couple seasons on the Lions could make a drinking man out of anyone, so this could be a tough landing spot for him. That being said, even with the risk he’s probably worth our 3rd round selection (66th overall).
How is there any argument about Houston being the best corner on the roster?
I think him and Wade are the only ones, besides a couple of training camp guys who will probably get cut.

Are you asking me?
I was simply replying to The_Guz’s post regarding the following comment:
Chris Houston is good, but not a quality everydown starter.
Considering the other Cornerbacks on the team, Houston better be a starter for your 2010 Detroit Lions. Check out the 2010 roster (as it currently stands) here.
I don't like relying on a trade-down
I’m pretty much hoping for it, but relying on it to happen doesn’t seem very smart to me.

Something too throw out to the crowd here
If we trade our 3rd round for him I can see us putting a pick and player trade package together for Seattle and or Washington, But Seattle and Clev are 2 teams that could use a Avril and or a Hunter to give them something on the end. I am sold now that we are trying to trade down to get our hands on some Blue BERRY’S!!!!!!! GRLion I think you and me are going to get the guy we wanted from the start of this whole debate issue on Kong/Berry/Okung.
How many lumps you want Doc?
well
put GUZ “We would grab our LT, another Pass rusher, and potentially a good quality CB for years to come”! I like your thinking
and no, I don't like us signing him
I would rather keep our third rounder and use it to draft a John Jerry or Mitch Petrus.
