With the second pick the detroit lions select __________?
Ok,
So with Hargrove visiting people are jumping on the idea that Okung would be the pick if a deal goes thru... I would not say that for sure... I think the defense is a major problem...still have holes at the CB position..Houston maybe the best we have... if Pacman Jones comes in and we get Wilson in RD. 2 they maybe ok... but I still would not be convinced at this point that Okung would be the pick... Ibecause Pitts is also coming to town..if we sign pitts as well would think Berry maybe the pick.. Yes we need a young stud @ LT but Defense is a bigger need and I think Berry is higher on the draft board in my opinion not taking need into consideration need...the d-line could be solid with Bosch - Hill - Williams - Hargrove ...depth with avril at end and hargrove could fill in a depth at DT as well.. the o-line could be addressed in a later rd.... so Berry may very well be the pick - Berry and Delmas would be one hell of a tandem..also consider Berry could potentially play CB as well so a player that could fill a big whole on D... as far as the RB situation is concerned .. I hope we can get Hardesty in the 5th.. many think he may fall that far..if he does take him...
so this if we have to get rid of a 3rd to get hargrove and we sign pitts my dream draft would be
1st Berry
2nd Wilson
4th OL
5th Hardesty
and the rest BPA
I would be 100% satisfied with those moves lmk what you guys think

Exactly. If the Lions trade back, and assuming both Bradford and Clausen are off the board when the Redskins come up at #4, Washington will take Okung. Washington needs a new LT desperately. If Clausen is available at #4 I believe Washington will take the QB, but I can’t see Okung then slipping past Kansas City at #5, who need to find Cassel’s blind-side protector asap.
Thats not a good playout for us
If the Lions trade down I really beleave it will be with the Browns at 7, and Berry wont be there cause we need Washington to take McCoy not Okung so that KC would almost be forced to take Okung at the 5 spot. then we would also need Seattle to take someone other than Berry, like maybe top RB/WR/DE! That’s a lot of stuff needing to happen for us to get Berry at the 7 spot.
How many lumps you want Doc?
Who said..
…that i wanted the Lions to get Berry at the 7 spot? :)
I’ll give you some benefit of the doubt, however. I don’t see it happening, but there’s a chance Washington could take Berry at #4, Kansas City could take him at #5, and if Cleveland doesn’t trade out of their 7 spot I really doubt that Berry will slip much further than 7th overall.

I love how all of you guys keep saying how other teams.....

Oh you didn't know?? You're ass better CALLLLLLLL SOMEBODY!!!!!
Arern't they referring to Berry over Suh?

Hey, as long as Zack Follett keeps hitting people, he can rap to Barney the Dinosaur for all I care.
For one
McCoy won’t be there at 4. Secondly, why the hell would Washington take him? They just signed Albert Haynesworth to the most lucrative defensive contract in history. Washington is as likely to take a QB (if one is available) at 4 as they are to take Okung, so either way, Washington or KC are going to take him. Here’s how us getting Berry @ 7 could play out:
1 STL – N. Suh
2 CLE – S. Bradford
3 TB – G. McCoy
4 WAS – R. Okung
5 KC – B. Bulaga/D. Bryant
6 SEA – J. Clausen
7 DET – E. Berry
KC is definitely the wild card here, but I really don’t think Pioli is going to pass on Bulaga or Bryant if Okung isn’t available.
bery prolly wont fall to 7 hes to talented
1st rd SUHHHH 2nd rd Kyle wilson 3rd RD RB best available

Well every one of those teams needs something far more than a S
including KC… Depends on whether they think Berry’s talent supersedes their needs.
No way Nate
If Okung is gone at pick 5, I do not see KC passing on Eric Berry in your scenario. I was with you up until that point. I can see STL taking Bradford or Suh. I can see someone trading up into the 2 slot to take Bradford, Clausen, or Suh. I can see Tampa taking either Suh or McCoy (although they might draft Berry at 3 if Suh is gone). I can see Washington taking Okung, if and only if both Bradford and Clausen are gone at pick 4. If Bradford, Clausen, Suh, and Okung go in the top 4……Eric Berry will be the 5th pick (and I would take that to the bank).
I honestly do not see Berry slipping out of the top 5 in any scenario……Kansas City wants him, and I think the only guy they might consider over him at pick 5 would be Okung. I do not see Okung making it past pick 4, unless Suh goes #1 and someone moves up to #2 to get Bradford or Clausen. In that case, it might shake out like this:
1 – Suh
2 – Bradford
3 – McCoy
4 – Clausen
5 – Berry or Okung (my bet is on Berry)
6 – Dez Bryant
7 – Berry or Okung (I guess it would not be all that bad if it played out like this).
I just think that is a lot of IF’s…….
Oh you didn't know?? You're ass better CALLLLLLLL SOMEBODY!!!!!
Oh, you're definitely right
The one thing that breaks it for me is that Scott Pioli’s reputation as a talent evaluator and GM has shown a propensity towards solidifying the lines of his team before messing with a player like a WR or S. If anything, I would think the pick would be Dez Bryant rather than Eric Berry, simply because the anemic KC offense needs SOMEONE for Cassel to throw to.
However, your point is made, and I definitely see merit in it. I don’t think it’s impossible by any means that KC doesn’t pass on Berry, that post was merely outlining what could be a very plausible scenario for Berry to fall to us. I do agree that if Okung is gone that provides the best situation, but I just haven’t heard anything about KC (or Detroit, for that matter) really citing specific interest in him. It all seems like fan hype to me, and I’m on the bandwagon, haha.
lets see
what happens…. the pieces will fall into place this week to set up our future!!!!!
GO LIONS in 2010! the transformation starts now.. they have much to do.
on Hardesty
that would be a red flag!!! If that is true on the knee issue….
speaking of Berry if he is picked as our 1st ……. would that move CB for maybe the 3rd or 4th round…. RB could be picked up in the second? just a thought… Berry can cover two positions???

….hargrove would be a DE in Schwartz Defense……This owuld be the line…….VB Suh Wiliiams Hargrove.

That would be a DAMN GOOD D-line!!!!! screw the Vikes and Pack and Bears we would have one of the better lines in the NFL!
How many lumps you want Doc?
Just because we are bring in FA's
That will not effect how the Lions draft. The FO is trying to get depth on this team. If we sign Pitts. That does not mean we will not draft an offensive lineman, in any round. The same goes for Williams, Hargrove and any one else. You need depth to complete in the NFL. Every team has injuries. Teams with good depth. Overcome it.
if the shoe fits...get another one just like it - George Carlin
Good call...
but you have to get a roster of starters before you get a roster with depth. Right?
Just give me 25 guys on the last year of their contracts; I'll win a pennant every year....Sparky Anderson
right...but Schwartz has said many times...
" we will build this team from the bottom up." And that is what we are doing.
if the shoe fits...get another one just like it - George Carlin
I like it
But as I have been saying I’d rather have a 3rd round pick than hargrove. The draft is so deep at D this year we could still get a starter in the 3rd round or maybe a RB.
How do you keep a running back out of your secondary? You put up a LEVY.
lions willnot draft a dt or ss with 2pick in draft .
the lions just drafted a qb with 1pick in last year draft and want happend to he got hurent last year beause of offensive line play . do you really think the lions gm willnot try to fix the offensive line with 2pick in draft. ithink we will pick the highest rated player at ot that is russell okung it would upgrade to spots on the offensive line why do i say this beause backus would make great offensive guared and russell okung will be a great ot and night be a allpro ot for next ten years. also this draft has lot dt and ss/fs that have 1rd talent that you can draft later rds
With the second pick the detroit lions selects...

2010 Wests Tigers : Current record - 1-0 : Current Position - 8th : Last game - Defeated Manly Sea Eagles 26 -22
Just so you all know who has visited and who is high on what teams list...
1. Rams: Bradford, Suh, McCoy: Consensus is it will be Bradford from many sources.
2. Lions: Suh, McCoy, Okung: Though Schwartz and Mayhew may be trying to be mysterious, all signs point to Okung at 2nd pick or BPA in a trade down
3. Bucs: Suh, McCoy, Berry: THe curve ball will be them taking McCoy not Suh.
4. Skins: Suh, McCoy, Berry, Okung, Claussen: Honestly a wildcard but i think they take Suh if he is still on the board.
5. KC: Berry: Yeah its gonna be berry here to KC and even in trade downs the Lions will not get him because they will then be lower than KC.
6. Seattle: Claussen, Spiller, Bryant: WHo knows but its for sure they will take a playmaker.
7. Browns: Haden: Looking at word on the street and Holmgrens past this makes sense. They may take Claussen though if he is still on the board.
Anyhow that lets you guys know the players of interest to most teams. Other tidbits on teams that have a consensus player. Cin the TE Jeremy Gresham, Pit G Mike Iupati, 49ers CB Kyle Wilson, Oak T Bruce Campbell. Ind C Maurkice Pouncy, NE OLB Brandon Graham.
Gotta agree and disagree both
Agree, Berry to KC at #5 if he falls that far. Agree, most Lions tradedown conjecture has Lions going lower than #5…….which is why I don’t expect a trade. Disagree on all signs pointing to Okung……not while Jeff Backus is still in uniform and there’s still a gaping hole at Left Safety next to Delmas. All signs, including last year’s defensive scheme and personnel moves by Mayhew, quotes by Schwartz and Cunningham, and Mayhew’s recent moves……all point to Eric Berry at #2. We’ll see who’s right.
