C.J. Spiller?

Lets just say the lions trade down with either the Seahawks or Browns. What if Suh, Berry, Mccoy, and Okung are all off the board at pick 6 or 7? Kevin Smith is a bum and the knee injury he sustained last year isn't going to make him any better. A sound running game is a quarterbacks best friend and if we got Spiller it would take alot of pressure off of Stafford. Imagine the possibilities with Stafford, Johnson, and Spiller all on the field at the same time. Our offense would all of a sudden be dangerously explosive. Adrian Peterson was the top running back coming out of college in the 2007 draft and the Vikings got him with the seventh overall pick and look at how he panned out. I just thought I'd put it out there for discussion and see what you all think.

For one

Kevin Smith is not a bum. Guy rushed for almost 1000 yards in his rookie season when we went 0-16. Spiller (in my opinion) is overrated, and no where near the talent that Adrian Peterson is. Sean just reported that dude scored a 10 on his Wonderlic. That’s borderline retarded, Jamarcus Russell score.

If those guys are all off the board, I think we go for a top DE or Haden. OR we could just sit on our pick until we’re low enough to draft Kyle Wilson ;)

Nope, dont want him...

If we have the franchise QB and all he does is eat turf, what is gonna happen if we draft Spiller, he is gonna eat turf. I like Blount in a late 5th rounder or later then that. We need to have a line before our QB and a RB can run. I am more wanting a O-lineman at that pick or at least a CB. Those are our two areas of need after the addition of all our FA. O-Line and CB.

I read that Spiller scored a 10 on his wonderlic...

isn’t that boarderline retarded, i’ll pass on him…

hahahahaha

yeah i missed that part, i guess great minds think alike.

I’m bettin either one of us would whoop spiller in a IQ test.

sorry to poach your comment.

Yea a 10 on the Wonderlic is like a 70 on an IQ test.

It basically means you’re retarded. Which is why I don’t understand how QB’s that score below 10 still get picked in the top 10. It shows you have no critical thinking skills and your brain processes information at a very low speed.

delmas got a 12.

So he’s smarter than Spiller lol. It’s weird how Delmas scored that low but he’s actually really smart on the football field. It’s like he’s rainman or something.

Delmas tanked the test so he would have a chance to stay in state

he had grown use to the long and cold Michigan winters.

Delmas - The Rainmain of Safeties.......LOL!!

That is so funny…..it made me imagine picking off a pass, taking it to the house, spiking the ball, and then turning to his closest teammate and saying “267”. The teammate says “267….what are you talking about Louis”? Louis say, “267 steps”. The teammate says “OK Louis” and starts to lead him to the sideline by the arm…when suddenly on the sideline coach Schwartz runs up and says ’Louis! You just ran 97 yards in 267 steps….AMAZING!"

LOL……God I am bored…..:o)

lol

I like that.

I saw a practice Wonderlic online. It seemed silly, unrelated to football. Maybe Delmas took one look at the questions, said “F___ it”, and blew it off…………then laid a hit on the tester.

Kevin is a BUM!!!

If you are that ignorant on the subject i won’t even tell you how much I don’t want CJ spiller. Kevin smith may not be barry sanders but he is no BUM. We need a running back to help take the load off kevin and make some plays not to replace him. He is a solid back with no gaurds the offensiveline maybe bum like but I can’t belive so one would go as far as calling kevin a Usless back. He is NO bum.

How do you keep a running back out of your secondary? You put up a LEVY.

Kevin Smith... not a bum but not a stud

If any of you remember kevin smith in college, he was a work horse and got crazy amounts of carries per game. Thats why he was so close to Barry’s record. A bum knee doesn’t do any good for someone who is supposed to be the work horse on the team so I’m thinking we should get a featured back and have Kevin Smith be the supplemental back. I think Spiller will be a good running back, maybe even great and just because he scored low on the wonderlic doesn’t mean he’s retarded. Running backs mainly have to play on instinct and aren’t usually expected to know route patterns and other things like QB’s and Receivers. His athletic ability alone will make him good.

Speculations is just that... lets make our judgements on the field!!!!!

the only reason why he came so close is

he played in 1 of the WEAKEST college confrences in the nation either C-USA or Alantic-10 they have never been known to produce that huge quality of player and the stats i dont think would as large if he was in the Big 10 or other BCS confrence.. but i do like the guy and imo he is no bum

Wonders how you produce 8 seasons of below .500 football and mange to keep your job as a gm.. here's 1 man wondering what kind of black mail Millen had on the Ford family.

FYI

You cant say anything bad about Kevin Smith on this site or some guys will have a hissy fit.

I wouldnt go as far as saying he is a “bum”, but he isnt the answer. Spiller would be nice to have, but we need other guys more importantly than him. We can get a RB in the later rounds who may not be as good but will still be able to do the job.

by ABN_MI_fan on Mar 18, 2010 6:20 PM EDT reply actions

What IS the answer??

I’m sure the Lions FO and Coaching staff would pay good money for you to tell them….

K Smith is a back up at best

We need a homerun hitter that can take one the distance. Smith isn’t that. Those of you who think he is a good back are mistaken. He may have gotten 1000yds but how many has he busted for big gains or gotten us that needed short yardage 1st down? If he is as good as many of you think then why the hell did we go 0-16? Wouldn’t have happened if we had a real back in the back field. We had a crappy line when we had Barry, See the difference? Anyhow we definitely need to upgrade that position but I honestly don’t care if we do it this year or not, I’d rather build our defense and upgrade the LG position so we are’t behind for most of a game where our subpar backs will at least be servicable.

by Usmarine0341 on Mar 18, 2010 6:31 PM EDT reply actions

Maybe

I was a little harsh calling Kevin Smith a bum but in my oppinion he doesnt do any one thing particularly good and too often he goes down by the first hit. I wouldn’t mind getting Spiller at the right pick and then drafting Blount in the 5th round. Imagine our stable of running backs then:
1.Spiller
2.Smith
3.Blount
4.Morris
5.Brown
6.Dorsey
That’s a solid stable of backs that could all contribute in certain cituations. Pickup Pitts and possibly Shawn Andrews if the price is right…draft some DB’s in the 2nd and 3rd rounds and I honestly believe we could make wildcard.

by D-Town Dope Boy on Mar 18, 2010 10:42 PM EDT reply actions

Personally, I think we can pick up a RB just as good as Spiller later in the draft

I like McKnight, Matthews, Tate, Starks plus a few others. Sure, they may not have the overall talent level of Spiller but I don’t think we are looking for a new starter, but rather someone who can contribute along with Smith.
