Lions interested in Pacman Jones? Oh Hell No!

WTF? According to NFL network, the Lions have been in contact with Pacman Jones, and he's coming in for a workout this week. (Pause for surprised look)

See, this is why I hate losing. Our secondary was so bad last year, Mayhew has resolved to rolling to the hood with Wayne Brady to look for talent. I hope this isn't true. Pacman? We talkn bout' Pacman? MM, you've been doing good. Dont attach your resume to this clown. He will cut you. He will stab you in the back. He is locker room herpes. There is talent in this draft. There are trades to be made. Draft 3 corners if you like. But plese...PLEASE...Leave the thugs at the Thug Convention.

Haven't we already discussed this?

We have but I guess we are doing it again. Anyways, what I said last time and I’ll say again is that he’s so desperate to be back in the league that we can sign him on the cheap, and if he acts up you simply cut him. Our CB situation is dire enough that I think we should give him a one-year deal and see how it works.

You don’t want young players around this guy. Nowhere near him. I’m all about giving guys chances. Nobodys perfect. 30% of people in the world are cheating on their spouse. People do crazy things. But Pacman has messed up chance after chance after chance. If he wants to clean up his life. Wonderful. But not at the expense of my football team.

I find it interesting that the Lions are going to his workout.

But Schwartz will be in Detroit tomorrow, in studio with Rome. I don’t know what this means but it is interesting.

We NEED TALENT!!!!

Why not give him a shot…if he performs half way decent we can just trade him next year for a draft pick. I say go get him and keep him on a short leash.

You say we need talent,

He didn’t look real talented in in his last return……..

Hey Stiffy

So does that also include T.O. if he wants to play here?

by davis0169 on Mar 19, 2010 12:36 AM EDT up reply actions

Why would TO WANT to play here?

But I’d take him because then we could have Burleson in the slot where he should be. This year is uncapped anyway, just offer TO a one year deal.

I guess it depends on if the Lions want to win or not

If you are wanting to see men who ACT perfect on Sunday’s you are watching the wrong channel. There are tons of churches you could be spending your time and money on that would love to have you on Sundays. But if you want to win, who cares who they sign. I could care less if they signed Charles Manson, as long as the law says he’s a free man, and he actually had talent. They need a guy like PacMan bad, on this team. If they sign him, and continue to add to the D-line in the draft, I think the defense could make a significant turn around in a year.

by Holden36 on Mar 19, 2010 8:27 AM EDT reply actions

For me it's a fine line

I would like to see the Lions win and still be a classy team off the field. It would be hard for me to stomach a winning Lions team that was comprised mostly of d-bags and thugs. Having a couple of questionable character guys isn’t going to hurt us, but it’s not something we should go out of our way to seek out. Once we are a better team we’ll be able to get the right guys and we won’t have to take risky gambles on guys like Pacman.

by WestsideLionsFan on Mar 19, 2010 2:06 PM EDT up reply actions

silly boy...

everyone knows that manson’s number is 666.

Just give me 25 guys on the last year of their contracts; I'll win a pennant every year....Sparky Anderson

by footstock on Mar 19, 2010 3:58 PM EDT up reply actions

I’ll take TO Looong before I take Pacman. T.O gets a bad rap. Diva? Yes. Eccentric? Yes. But the guy can play. He has a HOF resume. I don’t want TO either. But you can’t compare Pacman to TO. Pacman is not even that good. NEVER WAS! The 10th rated corner in this draft is better than Pacman at this point.

by TheOriginalVoice on Mar 19, 2010 8:54 AM EDT reply actions

In your opinion

I think I will stick with the opinion of Jim Schwartz…..if we sign him, then the guy still has what it takes to play, and that is all there is to it.

Oh you didn't know?? You're ass better CALLLLLLLL SOMEBODY!!!!!

by KDawg on Mar 19, 2010 11:19 AM EDT up reply actions

Just because we sign doesn't mean that he'll be good or even play a lot

At this point, we also need a lot of depth and Schwartz may sign him to be a backup just because he is familiar with his style of play.

by WestsideLionsFan on Mar 19, 2010 2:09 PM EDT up reply actions

I respectfully disagree

I think the only reason Schwartz and Co will sign Adam Jones is if he can come in and start. I think if they evaluate him and think he is anything less than a starter, they will not sign him. It truly makes no sense to sign the guy, with all of his issues, unless he is going to play and play at a high level (aka start). We can get depth in the draft and elsewhere.

Oh you didn't know?? You're ass better CALLLLLLLL SOMEBODY!!!!!

by KDawg on Mar 19, 2010 2:56 PM EDT up reply actions

I agree with KDawg.

The coaching staff is gonna do a LOT of homework before they sign him. I have a very hard time believing we would sign him if there was any doubt that he could still play at a high level.

97.1 The Ticket is reporting

Pac-Man was a no show for his workout. This means 1 of 2 things…
1. The Lions have allready signed him or
2. Pac-Man is THAT stupid

Life is a waste of time and time is a waste of life... so lets get wasted all the time and have the time of our lives!

I'm going with option 2.

Sure as hell wouldn’t surprise me.

by motown313 on Mar 19, 2010 5:12 PM EDT up reply actions

Nevermind

obviously there was some confusion and he did workout.

by motown313 on Mar 19, 2010 6:16 PM EDT up reply actions

safety

just throwing this out there but could Pacman transition to a safety position? One thing I’ve like about him is his hitting. He used to kill receivers (TEs) in college. He can lay the wood when he ain’t tryin to lay out his body guard. He might have issues but i think he is worth a look and consideration at other backfield positions besides CB.
