2010 TC's
Just let me start off saying this has nothing to do with the combine, workouts, FA, or the draft. So if you still wanna talk about that you might wanna head to another thread. I was watching a few of the Lions games this weekend and just could not get over the way they finished some games. It made me start to think who the hell are the "role guys" on this team. Well as most of you dedicated fans know "OUR" Team Captains last season were D. Raiola, L. Foote, and J. Hanson. Being a long time member of the POD I know most of your opinions on these certain players. Raiola dosent seem to be a fan favorite to say the least, not saying he isnt a leader n the locker room. Foote, well I think we all have our opinions on him after his latest remarks, and in those remarks does anybody really think he was any kind of a leader in our locker room? And then we got Mr. Hanson, definetly a fan favorite, but come on he IS still just a kicker. I just have a real hard time picturing Hanson getting up in Eric King's face after a missed tackle on the kick-off. Anyways, the season starts next week and we have to chose our three Team Captains. I'm gonna throw the one offense, one defense, and one special teams player thing out the window, just to save everyone the Follett for sp pick(even though I think your a beast), I think your an unanimous pick. But if you feel like you need to chose one of each feel free. So who and why should be our field generals this season?

good topic...thanks for the post.
I like Raiola. The reasons that he is not a fan favorite. Are the very same reasons he should continue to be a TC. He is emotional. The way he came to Stafford’s aide last season. With the fans booing. That shows he has heart.
Delmas. He is excitable. He is paasionate. And he seems to take charge.
Lastly…Follett. He plays with more passion then everyone on the field. And he is a fan favorite. You make Follett a TC. You better put him in a cage, when he is on the sideline. Or, he just might think he is a real lion. And maul someone.
And I when with the traditional…..offense…defense…special teamer. in my picking.

The dancers smacking each other on the ass
getting the other teams offence to commit a delay of game then the coach arguing with the referee…..
How many lumps you want Doc?
Yea, not sure Follett should be a captian
I would say Peterson, Stafford, Hansen and Raiola

they will never yank the "C" off Hansons jersey.
And they shouldn’t either. A Team Captain is a token role anyway, you get a patch on your jersey with stars underneath for the successive years as a “Captain”.
Putting a “C” on Follett’s jersey isn’t gonna make him “GET UP” on special teams any more than he already does. And not having one isn’t gonna keep him from gettin in some slackers face.
Hanson’s been with this team for 20 years, let the old man retire a “Captain”.
+1
Hanson deserves to be a captain until he retires.
And giving Follet a C would be a slap in the face to the other players.
Slap in the face?
Considering the team in 2-30 in the last two years a few slaps in the face couldn’t hurt.
Hanson
Stafford
Delmas
I think those choices are and should be pretty unanimous. Hanson and Staff are automatic locks, and Delmas is our defensive leader.
+1
there isnt and shouldnt be anybody even close. follett is a great STer, but hanson works hard and commands nothing but respect. CJ could be up there if burleson creates more opportunities for him AND he delivers, but the CLE game alone gives Stafford a 3 year pass.
Agreed

......
Hanson, he has been there for years and has been leading special teams since he has been here.
I like follett, but he is only a second year player, we should let him work harder, even though he is crazy.
Delmas, he for sure is leading the defense, plus the FO wants players like him, great example!!
Stafford, it needs to be earned but he is obviously the face of the franchise, and he as shown toughness. as long as the locker room agrees.
Speaking of that, maybe the locker room should vote, kinda makes sense right?

What about Ernie?
Hopefully Staff gets team captain, Hanson def deserves the special teams nod, and Ernie Sims may come back stronger than ever this year
min are
stafford- he’s the general on the field at all times
delamas-def. stud
hanson-loyality
Lions fan for life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wonders how you produce 8 seasons of below .500 football and mange to keep your job as a gm.. here's 1 man wondering what kind of black mail Millen had on the Ford family.
I think it should be
Stafford- unquestioned team leader
Hanson- He’s seen it all
VandenBosch- Best veteran presence we have on D. I think Delmas is still a year or two away from captain status because even though he’s probably our best player on D, he still shoots his mouth off all the time and draws stupid penalties, that’s not that kind of leadership you want on the field.

I'd also take Raiola instead of VDB
Just think it’s good to have the O, D, and special teams all represented by the captains.

Stafford, Delmas, Hanson
Honorary Driver of the Kyle Wilson Bus and Keeper of the Dreadlocks!
The 313 Missile Squadron: Delmas, Berry, Wilson, Houston......seek and destroy!
Hey, as long as Zack Follett keeps hitting people, he can rap to Barney the Dinosaur for all I care.
My 2 cents.
Ok I will start with offense. First of all none of the offensive linemen deserve a C. It takes more than a mouth to be a captain. Why don’t we look at the most successful Detroit sports franchise for examples. The Red wings have guys like Steve Yzerman, Nick Lidstrom, and Chris Draper as captains. Guys who do not waste breath on empty words, when one of them guys speaks you listen! On top of that, all of thsoe guys have the ability to give more effort than should be humanly possible. Their heart is legendary. That proves my point exactly on why Raiola needs to lose the C. For offense the ONLY player that comes close to that type of status is Stafford, and we seen that in the Cleveland game.
On defense it is Delmas hands down. Peterson had the potential but at times laast year had to be called out by Larry Foote because he was slacking. That is one thing I give Larry credit for, he played at 100% effort all the time. KVB might have the potential but I also don’t like the idea of making guys that were not life long Lions captains. Again like Draper, Yzerman, Lidstrom the Lions need to have team Captains who have been Lions from day one, faces of the franchise.
On special teams it is Hanson. He has been the key element of our special teams for so long he is grandfathered in. So what if he missed a tackle, he is a kicker for gods sake! If he is making tackles someone else needs to be slapped not him. In fact if he does miss a tackle this season he should go up to Zack Follett and smack him cause Zack should have had that shit taken care of.
Recap for me: Stafford, Delmas, Hanson
