Lions Will Meet with Pacman Jones, Attend His Workout

Pacman Jones' private workout is scheduled for Friday, and the Lions will be one of four teams in attendance, according to NFL Network's Jason La Canfora.

One of the other four teams that will be attending the workout is San Francisco, which has previously been reported as having interest in Jones.  The interest seems to be pretty high, because the 49ers apparently privately met with Jones last week.  The Lions are going to do that on Friday morning, seemingly confirming that they and San Francisco are the most interested in Jones.

The other two teams that will be at the workout are the Jaguars and Saints.

there will be a reason

for him signing with us if that does indeed happen. i have faith and trust in our FO so hopefully he doesn’t bite us in the ass….i don’t think he will tho cuz our FO won’t sign him unless they’re absolutely sure he’s cleaned up his act and won’t be a cancer in the locker room.

a few things

foote says he likes levy and that we have a sleeper in dizon – i agree

“Trust me, there’s nobody in that building that knew linebacker play better than me, and I knew once I saw him that he was gonna be a good player,” Foote said Wednesday. “As long as he continues to progress, he’s gonna be a great player. I hope he has 10 times as much success as I had. He better.”

Handle with Care!

The Schwartz knows what he is getting in PacMan, I am not a huge fan of the idea we need character guys and so far Pacman is not it. IF they give him anything it will be on a SHORT leash, like NO guaranteed $ or only guarantee against football related injury, and a behavior clause that keeps him out of trouble or costs him the whole contract. otherwise, enjoy the city by the bay fella!

I think people need to chill with the off field issues stuff.

I know the NFL wants to be a gentlemans club and a boy scouts league but you know what.. IT IS NOT. It is a freaking sports league, and a brutal one at that, where grown mean physically try to dominate one another and have no qualms about knocking another guy flat on his ass. So Pacman went to some strip clubs, so maybe he got in some fights, who flippin cares. I went to strip clubs, I have gotten into fights before, and I am a damn good guy. I open doors for old ladies and shovel my neighbors snow for him and stuff. There is only one thing to settle when it comes to “off field issues” and that is if it will impact the team, locker room, or play on the field. If the answer is no then his personal life is his business. By all means sign this guy, if nothing else he can provide depth and who knows might be a pleasant surprise. Oh yeah and for the high and mighty passing judgment on him, I seem to remember a little story it goes something like this… Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

EVILSMURF!!!!!

Well said brotha!!! Never thought about it that way.
I agree, if he can do the job, great. We have had alterboys so to speak on the team for years and look where it got us.
If he will cause fights in strip clubs and help get us to the playoffs, i could care less!

I'm with you evilsmurf

High character, low character, who really cares… we’re in the rebuilding process and we need TALENT.. I’d much rather not see T.O. in a Lions uniform, but if it means single coverage on CJ, then where does he sign. We need guys who can come in and produce. There are many many different clauses that can be placed in someones contract and if Schwartz is the “man”, then he can lay the smack down on Pacmans a – -! if he’s starting his crap again. We need some MEAN to bring our defense out…. people need to start respecting our D and maybe Pacman can bring some of that… or maybe just add depth, but if you look at our Special Teams in the last ohhhhhh 10 or so years, we SUCK!!!! Pacman is a return specialist… he’s an asset, and I really hope we sign him.

Speculation is just that... lets make our judgements on the field!!!!!

Yeah but,

Its not like he is sitting at bars and some guys come up to him and start stuff, he’ s in stripclubs throwing money on dancers then slamming their heads onto the stage when they try to pick it up. There is a big difference between kicking some dudes ass at a bar and beating women. I don’t want this piece of garbage on my team, we have not started picking up low character guys and I don’t want to start with him.

pleaselions.....

You’re 100% right. You can Kick somebody’s ass in a bar, I’ve done it many times over the years. But if you’re going to slam a stripper’s head down, make sure it’s in your lap!!

by dylan415 on Mar 19, 2010 8:39 PM EDT up reply actions

Hahaha too funny.

I dunno, the way you say it makes him sound despicable but I still stand by my earlier statement. I think that unless you were there, its hard to say exactly how things went down. Unless your his therapist (and that is a good stipulation for a contract BTW, mandatory therapy or anger management classes), I don’t think you can possibly know exactly what happened or why he did it.

I dunno man

It said in the article that he threw a punch and was suspended for a game bc a guy late him in junior college. Seems to me he is a guy that will throw blows in a game when he gets pissed. I like tenacity but i dont want an ass who is going to get pissy every time he gets mad drawing unnecessary penalties and suspensions. Seems too much of a gamble to me. I’m so sick of hearing how these guys cleaned up their act. Pac man, this guy, its just a matter of time before they fuck up again. I rather get guys that you dont have to worry about doing stupid shit. I mean come on man, maybe if these turds weren’t sports figures theyd spend time in prison. I’m sure i’d end up in jail for assault for punching a guy or at the very least on probation……..

i see your point

but i’m the type of guy to give people the benefit of the doubt until they prove me wrong….i also take people at face value and i gotta believe with the birth of his son he’s committed to just playing football and staying outta trouble.

I vote no!

I believe playing any professional sport is a privilege and not someone’s right just because they have athletic ability. This dude has had more than one second chance. So how many more does he deserve?… I think it’s a fair question.

bottom line

i still hope we get him and i’m done debating about it.

by DR GRUBE on Mar 19, 2010 8:03 PM EDT up reply actions

I seen the footage on this when it happened.

He lost his temper but the dude had been flapping his jaw at him after a loss. I think it might be a good thing to have players that will beat the crap out of you if they lose on the Lions.
