Lions Big Board

I saw a guy do this on the Kansas City Board and thought it sparked some good talk..

So, here we go, the Lions "Big Board" in my opinion. Obviously some of the guys will be reaches at certain spots, and some will not be availible where they are listed...but its just that...a BIG BOARD....you get the idea.

I based the order on my personal opinion of talent and then a very very loose need base.....For example McClain awesome even though we wouldnt take him. I didn't list QBs or TE's because I think we have 2 pro bowlers personally and I don't care how good the value is, I don't want to take them.

I like that.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Tate in the second round the guy might not be the fastest WR in the draft but he has damn good hands and isn’t afraid to go get a ball knowing he is going to get lit up.

by davis0169 on Mar 2, 2010 6:37 PM EST reply actions

2nd fastest I think with a 4.36

I like him a lot. I think he’s going to be the best WR in this class

I think

J Shipley might be the biggest sleeper in the draft at wide out. Kid can play.

by Waitingfortheroar on Mar 2, 2010 9:27 PM EST up reply actions

Shippley will slip to the 3rd

I think he will slip do to his size and all the other talent that’s coming out i agree though he is a huge sleeper he will be an impact player. Tate will go somewhere in mid 2nd rd. i do think we will go def. in the 2nd the best CB left or reach w/ kindle from Texas so shippley will be there to grab in the 3rd

Man

I just saw on ESPN Tates time in the 40, when you watch him on the field he didn’t seem that fast to me last year, he always got open and always made the catch, but I never thought he was that fast. He might be hard to pass up in the second round, Staff needs weapons of mass destruction.

I actually thought it was the other way around

Tate always looked really fast, but I ddin’t think he would be a great route-runner. I personally don’t think he gets past Cincy

I don't see him being there

when we draft in the second round either.

Jerry Hughes is a late 1st early 2nd imo

he a 3-4 OLB any way so i dont think we would draft him if he was there in 6th

The Bringers of Hope: Stafford - Delmas - C. Johnson - Pettigrew - Levy - Hill - Schwartz
Zack Follett: he will hurt your mind.

Iupati!!!

We need him on the line. I watched him at U of I, he’s got plenty of skills.

Carlos Dunlap

Dunlap looked awful at the combine. For someone who totally blew the last part of his season, he really needed a strong showing. I don’t trust him to work hard after he gets paid. While I do think he has talent, I don’t want to worry about “coaching up” professionals.

by lionsfan85 on Mar 2, 2010 10:00 PM EST reply actions

True

His legs are also a concern, their too skinny and a chop block can end his career. He needs to beef up a lot and it will take A LOT to get this kid motivated. Like you said, a player of his talents shouldn’t be “coached up”. I would only take a chance on him if he’s their in the 4th round but I know he’ll get picked earlier to a team like the Pats who always seems to get the big story guys and you can never count out the Raiders.

i imagine this is kinda how GMs list guys..and if they get to their pick

then they take someone close to their board

I would not have anyone listed in the first round after the first four.

I really don’t see that any of those other guys are even close. Not at # 2. Your second round list is basically everyone who is between the top ten and # 40.

How about cutting it down to around six or seven? ie. KWilson, D.McCourty, J. Best, G. Tate, R. Mathews, B. Graham, J. Odrick. I think two of them might make it to our pick. I also like Nate Allen but not sure he is the best value at # 34.

My point isn't who will or wont be availible

Its a rolling ranking IMO…the same way NFL teams have a ranking board when they go into the draft.

This is how most guys go into a fantasy football draft too. You never know who might slip past and be availible later than you though, or due to a run on a certain position, things can get tight in an area sooner than you though. ect…

Yes, this is what NFL teams do

It’s called “Stacking the Board”. Good post, CL.
