Current NFL players draft who gets picked # 1 (poll).

If you threw all the NFL players into a hat and had a draft.Based on today  March 21. 2010 .Who do you draft # 1.Sure L.Tomlinson was probably a top 3 pick 3-4 yrs ago,but certainly he wouldn't be #1 today.Who would be and why?

I  would take Tom Brady over Peyton Manning in a VERY close pick.I feel Brady can play in all the conditions, Snow,Rain, indoor, out door.warm,cold,windy.   Manning plays 8-10 games a yr in a 68*  dome, with a fast track for fast WRs.

I picked Peyton Manning

Because he is the only douche bag that I’ve seen that could tell his (potential) hall of fame coach to get that punk ass kicker off the field, because he wanted to go for an NFL record. And then get praised for it.

This is pretty tough, I had to think that maybe there weren’t enough rules for this. If this were to happen would it happen every year? If so I might take a more experience QB and then build the lines, but, if not, then I might build my line first and then swoop up Staff a little later on.

They are in a Rain Forrest

Meditating, growing, learning their environment, and becoming men. They spend their days worshiping the elements that surround them, and this beautiful world that we have been blessed to grace, and they spend their nights hunting every predator known to man, for fun, and eating babies for survival.

I was wondering the same thing so I looked it up. It’s on the internet so it must be true.

I'm tempted to say mean things

but I’m not going to. All I’ll say is if you honestly think either one of them is the best player in the league… you have a hell of a lot to learn about football. I love Staff as much as the next Lions fan, but c’mon, let’s be real here.

say all the mean things you want, I'm a Man,

he listed 31 players and not a single Lion, and yes I do think Stafford is better than, A. Rogers, B. Urlacher, P. Willis, and B. Marshall, just to name a few on that list.

Good response.

I don’t know about Rodgers, but you’re right, I think I would probably take Staff over those other 3 guys. Obviously I’m biased, but just by positional value I would rather have a young talented QB then a LB or Marshall, even if he has yet to really prove anything in the league. Good call J.

thanks man,

i was just saying that it was a vast, kinda random list and i would put Stafford and CJ in the top 31 of the league. the Follett addition was a homer pick… for now, give him a year or two.

sorry you had but...

i was w/ you until you said P.Willis this guy is a monster

Wonders how you produce 8 seasons of below .500 football and mange to keep your job as a gm.. here's 1 man wondering what kind of black mail Millen had on the Ford family.

by lionsfan_772 on Mar 23, 2010 7:18 PM EDT up reply actions

yes he is

but would you honestly take an elite LB over a franchise QB? Unless that LB goes by the name Lawrence Taylor, I’m gonna stick with a QB.

by motown313 on Mar 23, 2010 7:20 PM EDT up reply actions

oh me to but not over stafford

now dont get me wrong i like stafford alot but when he is not better than P.Willis… my pick was brees

I drafted like it was the 2010 draft

He wasn’t specific on the question. I looked at it like we have the current team of Lions and could draft one person to improve our team from that list. I also only considered players that should have long careers in front of them.
Now if he said it was April 2009 and we would get players at their prime, or at the beginning of their careers… then that is a different draft.

by coolbreeze42 on Mar 21, 2010 10:43 PM EDT up reply actions

I am going to vote but

I have to say, it depends. Are we drafting for a franchise or for just one year?

That makes a big difference. Peyton if for just one year, if for a franchise, I don’t know.

hard nice choices

I was torn between Peyton, Jones-drew,and Brees I took drew simply because he is a franchise QB and he is younger than Peyton.

How do you keep a running back out of your secondary? You put up a LEVY.

by The Profiler on Mar 21, 2010 12:40 PM EDT reply actions

I think it would be Peyton Manning

Especially if we were considering all of these players at their rookie levels.

Oh you didn't know?? You're ass better CALLLLLLLL SOMEBODY!!!!!

Andre Johnson

He is the only WR I see in this league who can make his QB better. I know a RB will be available in later rounds and I can make due with a stop gap QB until next years draft. Andre Johnson is a future HOFer. He has been dominant his whole career. God!! I hate Charles Rogers every time I think about that draft. I really like Peyton but if Peyton had Andre to throw to, It would be terror on the field. I can go on and on.

Peyton Manning

I seriously think you could take three receivers from your local high school’s JV team, put them on the field with Peyton and he would still consistently lead one of the top 5 passing attacks in the league. He’s one of the greatest of all time, and the only reason Brady has more rings is because he’s always had more talent on his team then Peyton.

by motown313 on Mar 21, 2010 3:00 PM EDT reply actions

Hard to argue the more talent point..

Reggie Wayne,Marvin Harrison,Dallas Clark, top 2-3 offensive lines past 10 yrs, solid runners, good kicking game for 10 yrs. a few good defenses (couple below avg defenses)
New Eng has had some real good players (all-pros,hall of famers)
but to say Indy has had less talent, is a hard sell ..Id say 50/50 on talent.

Tom Brady

Was a role player all three years he won the super bowl. He had his end of the game drives, but honestly, compare his stats to mannings Payton’s got to carry the Colts on his back to win games

by Dawg013 on Mar 21, 2010 5:54 PM EDT up reply actions

if you compare stats for Brady and Manning (per game) its close

Manning Games 192 games ,Brady 129 (125 games with 5+ snaps) so 125 games for Brady. Manning 50,128 yds – 366 tds-181 int . yrs 12 : Super Bowls 1.
Brady (per game based on Mannings 192) Bradys numbers at 192 games would be 49350 yds 360 tds -158 ints Brady has played 8 yrs and has 3 Rings.
As great as Manning has been ,Bradys numbers at game 192 will be as good or better.

by ralphgoblue on Mar 21, 2010 6:13 PM EDT reply actions

It's true, Brady does get close as numbers go

But there is a couple of things I think place Manning above Brady.

1. Manning started from the bottom. He inherited a 1-15 team and helped build them into a Superbowl group. Brady’s career started with a playoff team. Sure, you can argue about talent and what not, but it wasn’t like Brady was void of talent at NE.

2. It’s well known that Manning makes a lot of the calls himself. While Brady may do similar, I don’t think it’s nearly as often.

Personally, I think Manning is the better player. They are both heading to Canton though.

Chris Johnson.

If we are doing this based on their ages today he has to be the pick. He is the best player in the draft and is young. If we are just saying all of them at the age they were drafted just to be hypothetical (even though the whole thing is hypothetical) I’d have to say Tom Brady just because he has proven to be one of the top 2 big game QB’s of all time.
