ONE WORD -Vol.3
So same genral rules folks. One word to describe the topic in hopes of sparking new conversations. So lets change it up just a tad this time instead of just one word I will let you use one name as well because todays topic is about detroit history itself more than just football. The year was 1975 and the blue and silver detroit lions play there first game in the Pontiac Silverdome. Thats are topic one word and or name to describe the Silverdome. Many Historic events, Games, and Names have stepped foot in the old building whats the first that comes to your mind?
Tell you why I thought of this I read the story in the link below.

Was never lucky enough to see the play live before they moved to Ford Field

We are going to get you to Ford Field this year 32
We will figure a way. Let me work on it!
Just give me 25 guys on the last year of their contracts; I'll win a pennant every year....Sparky Anderson
Congrats on getting back to work!
That’s awesome buddy! I will still work on getting you to the game, even if I have to sneak you in in my wifes purse. lol.

Leonard Thompson
Played 12 years for the Lions and was drafted in Round 8 (yes there were more rounds back then) of the 1975 draft.
Another one word answer that came to me was “blowout”, because the Cowboys smoked the Lions 36-10 in the first game ever played in the Silverdome.
Oh you didn't know?? You're ass better CALLLLLLLL SOMEBODY!!!!!
the Pistons
and their championship run
if the shoe fits...get another one just like it - George Carlin
i guess I should clarify..
The start of the Pistons back to back. When I think of the Dome. My first thought will be of Pistons knocking off the Celtics to get to the 87-88 NBA Finals.

I think my brother had that shirt!

Unfortunately for me
When I think of the Silverdome I think of Hulk Hogan, or Andre the Giant. Lions at the Silverdome is far before my time.

2010 Wests Tigers : Current record - 1-1 : Current Position - 11th : Last game - Defeated by Sydney Roosters 44-32
Thats a good one

I saw the Pistons vs the Lakers
For the Championship. Sat all the way at the top at what would be probably the 30 yd line. The court ran east – west and was basically in the end zone area. Worst seats ever for any event. Even with binocs I couldn’t see the players.
Good thing I recorded it on VHS at the time…lol. Now I feel old…
Just livin' the dream...
I Volunteered to coach a 13-15 yr old Basketball Team
and we had a tournament that we had to take a Bus for and I brought my Discman and had my CD’s in my backpack, I was set. Those spoiled brats were clowning me the whole time. I broke down and bought an ITOUCH.
I think this sequel is dead

I'll give a word..... TRAGIC
for the way it went out. I believe somebody offered Pontiac $2 mil, but that got turned down and then the real estate market…..blah, blah, blah, and then the Silverdome gets sold for a couple hundred grand.
agree with that

Hmmmm 1975, well I was only 3 years old so I will give my one word based on the Silverdome in general.
Nigerian Nightmare
I remember seeing him play the Lions in a preseason game. The guy was absolutely huge, he made linebackers look small. It was like watching an athletic guard run the ball.
was that Christian Okoye?
