so i remembered a thread a few weeks back where everybody was talking about meeting sports stars and i had an encounter last night worth mentioning. i live in dc and have caps seasons tkts, so every once in awhile they'll do a screen shot of one of the redskins during the caps game on the big screen.
so during second intermission i head out with some buddies to grab another beer and sure enough Chris Cooley comes walking through. he seemed like a good dude, stopping to take pics with everybody, sign some autographs, whatever. my buddy, who is a huge skins fan, took off running. i, however, had some liquid courage. i walked up to cooley, looked him straight in the eye, shook his hand, and told him that i was a huge fan...
of the detroit lions.
the look on his face was a mix of astonishment and disgust. and that ended my drunken encounter with a sports star.

you should have pulled your hand away after he extended to you and slicked back your hair. leave him hangin’ like you don’t know where his hand has been. then turn around and slur something about “he best watch his back…” when you stagger away.

I think the look was probably more…why are you wasting my time?
I’m just saying, if I was Chris…who was drafted by the skins, didn’t choose to go there….I wouldn’t care who your team was. It sounds like a hillbilly version of punked or a joke that my seven year old thought of. “You play for the skins, well I like the lions so that makes you a bid stupid head” What’s the point?
On a side note, I was at the mall last christmas and told santa that he sucks and the easter bunny rules!!!

i’m sure being a sports star and all, he’s used to drunken idiots wasting his time. i probably wasn’t the first or the last, but atleast i got to be a drunken idiot who likes the detroit lions. Will Mr. Cooley remember me? My guess would be no. but the look on his face made it worth it. hopefully he was thinking, “why is this drunken detroit lions fan wasting my time?”
