Voice's Top 5 CORNERBACKS
First of all who is this "Voice" character that I should be interested in a top 5 list...
For those of you who don't know me, I dare not go into all the details. But heres what's pertinent... for the last 3 years that I've been tracking it, I have a 78% rate when it comes to predicting successful players in the NFL. That rate is even higher in basketball, but we'll talk about that another time. I played a little ball and actually have friends and family in both leagues. But honestly that has NOTHING to do with anything. I just have a knack for talent. Some recent proof... Just last year I said the best 2 defensive players in the draft were Brian Cushing, and Brian orakpo and actually predicted cushing to be defensive roy. This was BEFORE the draft took place. I posted this on the TLF site and would provide a link if I wasn't typing on a phone. Like a lot of you I am very busy with a job and a family. But during this time of year, any little free time I get is studying NFL hopefulls.
So here the TOP 5 cornerback list...
1. Chris Cook
2. Joe Haden
3. Patrick Robinson
4. Donavan Warren
5. Kyle Wilson
I'm sure everybody's list looks like this...
Its important to note that when I judge a players abilities, its under the guidance of this philosophy...How does a player's game translate from college to the pros. Just because a guy was great in college doesn't mean he will be great in the pros. Joe Haden is going to be a good player. But he was aided in college by a stout D line, a cornerbacks best friend. I also don't put as much stock in his 40 as other people, but it does hurt him. You can get away running 4.6 in college. Not so much in the pros. But again haden will be fine. Ill take him in a heartbeat. But Cook's size and pressing capabilities lead me to think he will be a better fit in the pros.
Now for all you Kyle Wilson lovers...I have 2 questions. 1. Did you know about him before you watched nfl network. 2. Did you know he did not play a traditional cb at his school? His OWN coaches did not trust him on the edge in college. And you're going to trust him against the best of the NFL? No thanks...

and most seeom to think he is a top 20
If cook went to florida, he’d be the #1 cb on evverybody’s board. How many people were thinking Revis a few years back?? Not saying cook is anywhere near that…

No. Cook #1????

1. I don’t HAVE the NFL network. I knew about him before the Fiesta Bowl.
2. Didn’t play a “traditional CB”? Elaborate, please. What does that mean? I like detailed analysis. I watched the Fiesta Bowl, and it sure looked like he was “on the edge”. I focused on Wilson on EVERY play. He quietly shut his side of the field completely down, and forced the TCU QB to go the other way most of the game. Wilson showed great one-on-one man cover skills in that game. I’ve seen the same thing in online game film. Schwartz (among many others) spoke very highly of Wilson’s play during the entire Senior bowl Week, where he was playing whatever defense Schwartz put him in (smart money says Gunther’s defense was prominently featured).
My top 5 CB’s:
Kyle Wilson
Devin McCourty
Joe Haden?
Patrick Robinson?
Donovan Warren?
And if you don’t believe it now, wait 5 years.

Hey, as long as Zack Follett keeps hitting people, he can rap to Barney the Dinosaur for all I care.
+1
better list I might move warren up one but yea. Describe your problem with Wilson I really would like proof of you claim on him.

Its not necessarily a problem…he’s just not as good as those other guys imo…doesn’t close well, doesn’t explode to the ball at the highest point, not as good technically, not a freakish athlete. He like a rw mcquarters, doesn’t do anything great, but can make some plays to help you win.

I guess we'll disagree on that........
Everything I saw says different……..and I’ll trust the Schwartz. Schwartz liked him.
We’ll see how it all works out.

What the "Voice" is talking about.......
Is the fact that Boise State predominantly runs a 4-2-5 nickle defense. That means there are always 5 defensive backs. Kyle Wilson DID play the traditional role of CB1 though, so I’m not sure what the ’Voice" is talking about.
Oh you didn't know?? You're ass better CALLLLLLLL SOMEBODY!!!!!
no he didnt...
In that 5 db system he was not on either edge most of the time. He was in the middle, kind of like a safety. Which totally fits his skillset.

Provide a link that supports your claim......
The 5-10, 187-pound senior is one of the nation’s best tackling corners, making 35 tackles with 29 of them solo, and he came up with five interceptions and ten broken up passes. He proved he could handle the No. 1 corner job, and then some, and he should up his stock and be one of the WAC’s premier playmakers if anyone dares to throw his way.

PLUS
They ALSO ran a 4-3…….they did not ALWAYS play the 4-2-5!! So, YES HE DID!

I like Chris Cook
But I am sure this is the same dude that was “The Voice of the Lions”
Who we ran out of town a while back…Chris Cook is nice…not the best in the Draft Class, but very big and physical.

Not a horrible draft. But chris cook won’t be there in the 7th. Brown is my guy in the 5th as well.

Yea that draft was in Jan, I don't agree with it in some ways now
I agree that Cook has risen a little bit, but he is still probably a 4th round or later guy
http://cmufootball.blogspot.com/
If you had that back in January that’s impressive…the value for corners is definitely in the 3rd and 4th rouns. Warren and Cook will still be there with cook probably going ahead

The Bringers of Hope: Stafford - Delmas - C. Johnson - Pettigrew - Levy - Hill - Schwartz

5devin mccourty
the lions are high on braden ghee /patrick robinson /devin mccourty beause of the way they play ed in the senior bowl.
wheres wilson?
Where r u getting your info? If this is true this further proves my point. Fans like to hang onto every word of their coaches. Scwartz is not going to jeopardize someone’s caareer by saying he sucks. But all this “schwartz loves wilson” needs to stop.

Actually, I was telling people here about Wilson before the Fiesta Bowl, well before Schwartz's comments during Senior Bowl Week
I got my info watching Kyle Wilson on TV and clips online, long before Schwartz said a word. as for Schwartz’s words, he gushed over Wilson (“I’ll tell you what…..he makes plays.”), but gave a more measured ‘wait and see’ answer in regard to Vladimir Ducasse. Schwartz’s answer about Wilson didn’t have to be as enthusiastic as it was. But it was. So the “Schwartz loves Wilson” talk isn’t going to stop anytime soon…….especially since we just cut our 2 “starting” CB’s. Buckle in, it’s a long way to the draft.
