Normally, I do not agree with most of the columinists on the show, but Woody Paige made a pretty good observation that I would like to hear everyone's comments on. He stated that in this uncapped year a team should restructure players deals(players expected to be around for awhile). These contracts would now be seriously front loaded for next year and be next to nothing in subsequent years. This would allow a team to be significant players in the free agent market for the next couple of years because a team would then be grossly under the salary cap. This free agent class isn't exactly stellar, so I wouldn't mind the Lions doing something like this. Especially with a rookie cap expected to be in the next labor agreement. The Lions could be big players for years to come. Be a good time to sign CJ to a long term deal.
