My Thoughts of 2010 Lions FA
Nate Burleson: If you read my pevious thoughts yes we over paid for him but we had too. Reading Kdawgs commets I tend to side with him that he will not be our #2WR but a slot guy brought in too stretch the field for Stafford. He will return kicks and punts and be our stretch WR which Johnson "Bryant" cant do. But in this role he should be able to stay healthy enough to stay of the field to help us win... GRADE C
KVB: Again not a splash but a upgrade over what we have, he probably has a front loaded contract because he's likey to be realesed after 2 season but thats all we really need from him. The big key here is trading for Corey Williams, lining up SLH and Williams in the middle should allow KVB to not get a lot of double teams to allow him to get to the QB. The Titan fans don't seem to miss him but losing fat Albert would hurt any one and it showed in KVB stats and they should rebound for a year or two in Detroit. Grade B
Draft: With a D-line trade and and FA D-line pick up I'm believing Suh or McCoy is less likely. Were thin at secondary and Berry will be sitting there waiting for us, or we could trade down and still get him. My thought is we will get Berry and pray that Wilson will be there at the 2nd round, DB always seem to drop, see last year. If this all happens we could start to see some wins in Detroit, I don't know maybe 6 or 7 but that would be a mass improvement over the last couple of years.

Very Impressed with
Lions FO going out and making bold moves in the wee hours of the morning, at least there showing us they want to win. What a fresh breath in Detroit for a change GOOD JOB!!!!!!
More moves to come as well.....
……Its just the 1st day and more guys will be cut around the league…..I would love to see the Pittsburgh saftey Ryan Clark sign…..But we need a RB and Some more DBs and im sure we will sign a couple of each.

why would the lions draft a ss/fs with the 2pick in the draft when you could get this year delmas in 2rd or 3rd in this draft . also this draft has alot of very good dt as many as ten could go in the 1rd to 3rd in this draft . so lions might draft a ot in 1rd beause they need to get the most vaule out of the 2pick most playoff teams have great left ot the lions have one who has played a lot of games but is on dowen side of play at ot so why not draft russell okung at ot if he be out the start move him to left g. and that way you fix the left side of your offensive line .
Schwartz himself said that there were few players he would have drafted above Delmas last year
He was just lucky that teams continue to undervalue elite safeties, which allowed him to steal Delmas at #33. As we know now, Louis Delmas was clearly better than the 33rd best player in the 2009 draft. He’s a special player. When special players who fit are there to be taken, you take them. They can happen in any round, like getting Levy in the 3rd Round, if enough GM’s undervalue them. Like Schwartz says, draft the player, not the position. If Berry is the BPA, the “special player that fits” at #2, you take him. and there’s no guarantee another special safety will be available at #34. I don’t see one. Earl Thomas might be special………but he might not fall that far. Schwartz won’t lock himself into that kind of thinking.
•This year the goal is to "keep drafting players, regardless of position."
•"The second you start prioritizing positions, you get away from making good decisions."

Hey, as long as Zack Follett keeps hitting people, he can rap to Barney the Dinosaur for all I care.
I'm sorry I tried to read your response as best I could
Please name these sleeper picks for SS/FS we could get in the 2nd or 3rd round. Berry is well known as being the next Ed Reed. If we can’t find a trade partner then yes we might take him with the 2nd pick. Would Okung make a great pick at that spot???? you have your spots mixed up, OT is very deep this year allowing the lions to get help in the middle of the draft no need to go drafting one there…
nate will be the #2 not a slot
he has the exp. to be there and so he will win the job. shipply will be there in rd 3 so take him there. then you got your slot he is the next welker and he can KR he is a stud and a huge sleeper. suh should be there so take him in rd 1 then all of a sudden you have a top 15 at worst def. with some depth in the front 7. imo wilson will be there in the 2nd to much talent going in the 1st…. 2nd option is if suh is gone cody will be there in rd 2 and take berry or okung in rd 1 both would be great and will fill huge needs.. w/ the moves and $$$ it seems like we are willing to pay we could get a few more pieces to the puzzle due to the FA are seeing what we are doing and how we are improving.. we could get players like RB t.jones and could still get ryan clark and a few other OL that could start (forgetting some names)

+1
I hope we dont targe a receiver till round four.
Nate should be a solid #2. Don’t expect him to eclipse 1000 yards, but solid totals like 700 are completely possible if he stays healthy. Plus, I like the fact that he knows Linehan and has played oposite of an elite receiver in Randy Moss

he managed 817 with Seneca Wallace throwing the ball last season. I have some faith in him, his KR skills make it much better as well.

What about Williams?
The Bringers of Hope: Stafford - Delmas - C. Johnson - Pettigrew - Levy - Hill - Schwartz
Zack Follett: he will hurt your mind.
I dunno
I think Nate will be #2 and BJ will be the slot its were he is good he’s beena slot guy before and somewhat productive too.
The best there is, The best there was, and the best there ever will be - Bret the Hitman hart
My only issue is that...
…Suh really is a once in a lifetime performer, and we did release Grady Jackson so there’s room (unless you want Turk McBride to be our “rotation” DT).
agreed...
i dont like compareing players but suh will be the next best thing since warren sapp as far as DT’s go

Even if wilson is gone, we could still get McCourtey in round 2…..he is pretty good too, but overshadowed by Haden and Wilson.
I will be very happy if we draft Eric Berry…..and I do think we may be able to trade down a couple of spots and still get him.
That said, i would also be very happy drafting Suh at pick 2…..there are a few decent safeties that could be had in a later round. however, none of them are near as good as Berry.
Oh you didn't know?? You're ass better CALLLLLLLL SOMEBODY!!!!!
That's what it has to come down too.....certainly
Oh you didn't know?? You're ass better CALLLLLLLL SOMEBODY!!!!!
2nd Pick
We should still draft Suh if possible, we need a young gun on the DLine. The free agency pick ups will help our D, and good OLine pick will still be available in the 2nd round.
I think it's 1 step at a time.
last year LB’s this year DL, next year DB. could make us stable in the future. 1 guy to replace here and there instead of 5 guys a year on DEF
