Now here is a RB we can afford and is availible..

http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-raiders-fargas&prov=ap&type=lgns

Justin Fargas

I think that he would be affordable and he has shown he can carry the ball with consistency. Plus, anyone who watches any football other than the Lions knows that he has home run capability.

I would love to see this be our next FA signing.

he can run between the tackles

is he more than a stop gap? its a toss up.

I don't think he's more than a stop gap

Oakland has a better o-line (or at least as good) than we do and he never really had much success there, even in a committee. He reminds me a lot of Maurice Morris.

well he got alot of carries

for them taking McFadden so high.

Hey double D

What’s the word from Pack nation on your top targetted pick for this year?? Are you guys hoping for a tackle in the first to help keep Rogers off his back? I’m not slamming but you know as well as we all do that your tackles almost killed him last year. It didn’t matter what way Rogers was looking he was getting creamed from the back-side.

Well as you know the protection improved monstrously once we got the right players in there

that being said, most Packer fans and draftnicks will have us pegged to take a tackle with either our 1st or 2nd rounder because we do desperately need to get younger and better at the position. Cornerback and a pass rusher are other possibilities

Does he have health concerns?

I haven’t heard em.

man...

I think their fans/team takes 10 times more shots than we do, even tho they are a pretty competitive team.

but ya, i would love to have Fargas, hes nothing special, but hes one of those guys that can carry the ball when you need him to. Btw, he has averaged over 4 yards behind Oakland’s OL and has even had a 1000 yard season, so I wouldn’t say hes a bad back by any means

Fargas

would be a huge need filled and we would be bringing in another “homer” for me and Ralph, he was a Wolverine before transfering out to USC! If we could get Justin I would be so geeked up that I wouldn’t know what to say.

I m just not sure he
their O line has alot of tallent (you can't protect russell if you double bag him!!!!! he doesn't have ant pocket pressence) and they run the ball even when they can't throw it. We need their O line more than we need him possibly.

The Oakland O Line might be worse than the Lions. IMO.

Their backs averaged 4.1 YPC. Detroit averaged 4.0. They gave up 49 sacks. Lions gave up 43.
Fargas has averaged under four yards per carry the last two years and is over thirty. Injury prone.

NO THANKS. A fifth round pick would be better than this guy. Sorry MEEEchigan fans I hope the Lions pass him by.

Plz get Fargas

He is a homerun hitter we need, good recv, decent pass blocker. He would be a nice depth guy.

by ralphgoblue on Mar 8, 2010 4:13 AM EST reply actions

Too injury prone

I don’t think we should spend money on a guy as injury prone as him.

by lionsman81 on Mar 8, 2010 7:38 AM EST reply actions

You just give him a Vick like deal

2 million Guaranteed for 2 years and like 4 million more if he is healthy for 14 games a year.

Hey Lionsman

Just a quick question that I hope you could explain to me, What FA RB that is out there or even on our roster other than Brown hasn’t had at least 1 injury???? Even starting Rb’s from any team in the NFL ? The game is just too violent nowwa days and every RB has injury issues. Weather it’s turf toe or hammies; the mighty concussion, or even worse they all have them that’s why there is no such thing as a 1 back team anymore. No not the Jags,Vikes, Cowboys, Eagles, Colts, Pat’s NO ONE. Those days are long behind us and we are in need of a Rb reguardless. So if we can’t get T.Jones who wants to go back to the Jets, LT most of you don’t want period, Westbrook how long can he stay on the field, why not Fargas who does not have half the carries that most of the others have on his legs. Fargas wasn’t a starter early in his carreer to me he is the same kind of back as Chester Taylor who most of us wanted, so why not take Taylor 2.0?

50/50

On the plus side I can buy a jersey that says Huggy Bear. Negative I just not sure how productive he would be.

Draft

teams are built through it and I honestly don’t see very much upside to signing Justin Fargas. We have KJ who I think could be a serviceable 2, and Morris is a solid number 3, Mayhew just needs to find a diamond in the rough in the middle rounds…
