Lions Officially Trade for Chris Houston
Multiple news outlets are reporting that the Lions have officially traded for Falcons cornerback Chris Houston. I guess whatever delay there may have been was resolved quickly, because Houston is now a member of the Detroit Lions.
The compensation that was originally reported by Adam Schefter hasn't changed. Atlanta will receive a sixth-round pick from the Lions and the two teams will swap their fifth-rounders. All picks involved are for this year's draft.
Suddenly the Lions' secondary is starting to take shape with the additions of Houston and Jonathan Wade. I'm sure the Lions aren't done, but like I said earlier, this is a great start.

we get Marlin or Lito
The best there is, The best there was, and the best there ever will be - Bret the Hitman hart
Marlin Jackson is probably going to sign with Philly.....
Just my guess…..
Oh you didn't know?? You're ass better CALLLLLLLL SOMEBODY!!!!!
Marlin Jackson = Bryant Westbrook
I really liked both of them, but, Marlin is coming off of 2 season ending injuries. I hope he can come back and be successful.
All of this action is driving me crazy !
" Mind " you, a good illness. Any chance your sponsor Comcast can stick a back ward counting clock to the draft in the banner to drive us further over the edge ? Man, if some how we could recoup that 6th round draft choice we lost by unloading some under achiever, THE MAN, whose new broom is sweeping clean, should be damn proud of his actions. Good job front office !
We actually have a countdown clock widget
I’ve been meaning to add it lol

Ha, me too.
There are more in NYC than you’d expect. The catcalls and “wow, I’m one too” reactions are about fifty-fifty when I have a cap on.

we have a fan club in the city
don’t know if i am violating the spirit of the message board, but we’ve held a “lions bar” in manhattan for the past 3 years. i’m not associated with the bar in anyway, i just organize whomever wants to come. once we had 30 people (back when we were 6-2, and for the start of the 0-16 season). anyway, there’s a facebook group called Detroit Lions Fans – New York City Chapter and would love to organize everyone to watch a few games and then go to the Giants game.
great website, i look forward to reading it every day.
This is Great
I am really enjoying what they are doing this offseason.
I really hope Kyle Wilson falls to us in the second round… if we sign Lito and get Wilson we will not be looking to bad
Go Lions!!!!!!!!
No way.....Killer is on Mlive??

Can I get a direct link from someone please? Don’t feel like searching Mlive for the article.

not sure
what to make of these moves, but it can’t be worse than what they had last year. They’re low impact signings.
I just
wanted to pop in and say hey. Been reading this page for a couple years, and finally joined. Being in Mississippi, Lions fans are few and far between. I am originally from the mitten and just hope i can be as productive with info as much as ya’ll. GO LIONS!!!!!

Starters-
I love that they are adding starters, not just bodies! Go Mayhew! What a bargain price too!

i honestly can see Huston as a starter.. at lest not one that should be.. wade is definitely not one
wade has potential to be a great starter
in his first 2 starts he got interceptions, in his last 4 starts, he broke up a pass that he almost intercepted, and tipped a interception into Butlers hand..
he was a backup on the rams dude..
6 starts in 3 years
59 tackles in 3 years
2 int in 3 years
you cant possibly think he should be starting?? i mean he might but only by default
http://www.nfl.com/players/jonathanwade/profile?id=WAD427290
dont get me wrong i am glad they are doing stuff but he isn’t good enough..
He's young det32.........
He could be developing into a good starter…..who knows.
Oh you didn't know?? You're ass better CALLLLLLLL SOMEBODY!!!!!
he COULD i soupes but highly unlikely.. hes just depth good depth but still depth
i just dont see what people see in him i geas.. hes fast but thats about it.. madden ranks
overall 61 (low)
speed 91 (normal for CB)
man cov 71 (low)
strength 48 (very low for CB)
tackle 42 (low)
awareness 61 ( not treble but not good)
jump 92 (normal for CB)
just dosnt seem good yea its only madden but the farly realistic
just to give you some compareisen
will james
overall -72
sped – 86
man cov 80
overall 61 (low)
strength 65
tackle 59
awareness 75
jump 88
he is a will james clone
The Lions coaches seemed to like Will James......
Oh you didn't know?? You're ass better CALLLLLLLL SOMEBODY!!!!!
Madden 10
Had Stafford at a 78 and Megatron at an 85. Okay I made the last one up. But Madden has to rank so many people they can’t spend a lot of time on any one player. Except Fave Rah maybe. Hehehe Fave Rah. Silly Madden

and also the reall dont need much work most of it stays the same yer to year..
they just add rookies
He's like 92 (unless they bumped him up in the latest roster update)
Usually goes up to 97-98 to in the second year of a franchise.
I know his profile well and his story.. he got drafted as a backup behind a 1st rounder, when the 1st rounder didn’t pan out and the Rams let him go, it was with new management. when new management comes in that leaves the previous players left with a bad situation. management wants their draft picks to play which is what happened with Wade. if you followed the Rams in 09, u’d see that Wade played well but was replaced by Spags draftee Fletcher whom came in and was burned on almost every pass thrown his way..
Yea, Wade isn't nearly as good as Houston and Houston is decent with potential

little ways down
These guys are better than what we had last year.....
But we really need to temper our expectations with these guys…..they are depth players with upside (in that they are young and hopefully coachable and athletic).
Oh you didn't know?? You're ass better CALLLLLLLL SOMEBODY!!!!!
an interesting take on #2 pick??
with all the action in free agency (long, long overdue ) especially on the defensive side of the ball. We beefed up our d-line with not one but two def. linemen, not one but two cornerbacks. The truth is we are locked in to a #2 first rounder (about 12 million $worth) so what do we do? Here’s an interesting option … lets take our 12 mil and invest it in an overpaid DT or LT,an underachieving safety,NO not again Mr. Millen !!! lets take our 12 mil and pay an all pro wide reciever that wants out of his current place of work.and solve two problems. first we get rid of the draft pick for Brandon Marshall!!! Take the guess work and bust potentail of a unproven rookie out of the equation, replaced with a proven star, and we solve the doubleteam problem on our star Calvin Johnson. I’m all for the young stud to build your team around, but thats a big salary cap hit to take on a slow HB or a lineman thats good but not worth the money. Marshall is only 25 and I see him getting the 12 mil from whoever anyway… well if we get to draft there I do like both McCoy and Suh as well as Okung.I’d like to see either Bell or the best DE thats left in the second, then go o-line the rest of the draft…
Spend a high 1st Round draft pick on a WR?
Why didn’t Millen think of that?
oh, wait………
