Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Chiefs Sign Thomas Jones

Star-divide

Well there goes another running back. I just don't see anyone out their currently as a Free Agent to the Lions liking who'll fit their plans. Maybe Mayhew can do his magic and grab a talented young back for a late rounder like he did with Houston and Williams.

We'll just have to wait and see I guess. I just hope we don't end up wasting a top round pick on a offensive player when we have one of the biggest defensive drafts in a while but I trust this front office.

I may be in the minority, but I don't believe that the Lions needs to sign or draft another RB

We signed DeDe Dorsey already, and Mo Morris looked at least as good if not better (which isn’t saying a whole heckuvalot, but still) than Kevin Smith did when he got his chance at the end of the year.

I say we should roll with a platoon of Morris, Dorsey, and Brown until Smith comes back and take it from there.

There are much more important pieces we need to be spending our money on like CB, SS and LG. Just my opinion.

Considering the Lions

CURRENTLY Do not have a starting RB….

I’d say there’s a reason you’re inthe minority…lol

by CLF on Mar 9, 2010 5:31 PM EST up reply actions

But if the "starting" RB

is injured, the answer isn’t always to just find a starting RB and replace him. Often times, it’s possible to make due until he comes back.
I use the term “starter” loosely with Smith right now, considering that I believe a little more of a time-share/RBBC would have been likely this upcoming season regardless of his injury.

I certainly wouldn’t mind seeing them pick up another RB in Free Agency or the draft to help offset his absence, but I personally don’t think it’s necessary to throw the bank at a bell-cow RB and label him “the starter”.

+1

hey man I too belive we don’t NEED a back. A guy like jones would be nice but we have so many areas of need. ( alot fewer as of late) we can afford to roll with these guys. Morris is a solid number 2. I think brown will imporve and become more of a threat. I am not givin up on kevin yet either I am still happy with smith at #1.

This kills Jamall Charles Fantasy Value

He went from a good #1 to a great #2 or a servicable #1 Fantasy Back

Chiefs fan here. I think he's still a top 5.

He could score from anywhere on the field. TJ will get 12 carries a game. Jamal will get the rest. I would get them both. JC isnt big. Insurance. We’re gonna run the ball a lot.

CJ
AP
SJ
MJD
D,Williams
Rice
Gore
Turner

Then I would consider Charles but it would be along with Benson, Mendenhall, and Grant…..

That is WITH Jones in town…before, I would have taken him before Gore or Turner

Not top 5

No surprise

It will be interesting to see how they divvy up the playing time.

I wanted jones

but I have to assume that since the FO was not super interested in the RB position (like they were with the D Line and CBs) that K Smith will be back 100% sooner than we think. If they thought Smith was not going to be our starter next year, they totally would have grabbed Jones. Who else could have given him a real shot at starting?

Unfortunate, I was hoping we'd get him

Oh well.

Jahvid Best

If he is on the board when it’s time for our second pick, I will go absolutely berserk if we don’t take him. He is going to be a beast in the league, I promise you.

rather see us grab some defense

and wait till the 3rd or 4th and grab Ben Tate. that guys a beast. had a great combine as well.

still need that d

toby will be there in the 3rd bell from wayne st will be there in the 4th or 5th lets try and fix the CB and OL then what we have done and will do via FA/trade or draft will make the entire O that much better. as well as the D would be better just because they are not on the field 3/4 of the game. if the season started today we would go atleast 6-10. if all our picks play out the way we all feel we are .500 at least. and just 1-2 guys from completeing the puzzle and can fix that the following yr now we are staring at the playoffs and possible do i dare say SB. always remember on any givin sunday you can win or lose

Lions fan for life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
