IAGNN Rumor Mill: Beast Mode

Rumor Is, Marshawn Lynch, 2007 12th overall pick, is available for a fourth round pick. Marshawn is power back from Cal, capable of being a workhouse in a single back system. The fourth year player had a strong Rookie, and second year, season rushing for over One-thousand Yards.

His most reason season he was suspended from all preseason games and the first three games of the regular season. With the lack of reps, the emergence of Freddy Jackson, and Lynch splitting carries, he never got into rhythm.

That being said, with Jones off the market, I think a fourth is a good deal for this guy. We get a strong young player who NEVER goes down on first contact, and we do not gamble our pick on a second or third round back. So lets see it Mayhew, Pull the Trigger.

pass

lets just get a back from the draft. that way they will be around for a few years (in theory anyway)

by ABN_MI_fan on Mar 9, 2010 11:26 PM EST reply actions

That is tempting...

offer the 7th and see if they’ll bite. Don’t know about a 4th

by JazzyBBP on Mar 9, 2010 11:45 PM EST reply actions

Do You guys

really not agree with his value?

yes he is a bit of a personality risk but this is only his 4th year in the league.

we spent a 3rd on corey williams.

by IAmGross on Mar 9, 2010 11:59 PM EST reply actions

we spent a 5th on Corey Williams
I kind of agree with the 4th rd value, but we only have 6 picks. Don’t want to trade too many of them

by JazzyBBP on Mar 10, 2010 12:02 AM EST up reply actions

4th rounder is a little steep...

for a guy who had so little overall impact last year. I think the guy is fairly talented… or was anyway, but he’s a pretty big question mark now. Do we really need two guys (Smith) that we may or may not be able to rely on? I would rather see Morris get the playing time. I think he’s more dependable, not necessarily as explosive (potentially), but consistency is a good thing.

Oh… and I think we’re definitely going to take a back in either the 2nd or 3rd round.

by DrewsLions on Mar 10, 2010 2:29 PM EST up reply actions

we should say a 4th this year and a 6th next year for Fred Jackson

He is a much better back than Lynch

Pass...

Character issues, lazy, and has not improved since his rookie year. I think it was Hyperion that said if they don’t grow once they get to the NFL, they will not make it in the NFL.

Marshawn is the same guy he was in college, and the league is passing him by. Like I said, I pass.

he is getting better

His offencive line however gets worse every year. Im pretty sure the bills had the worst offencive line last year, and still if he had the amount of carries he had his previous season he would of had over 1000 yards again.

1000 yards in the NFL isn't what it used to be...

I know it’s a recognized benchmark, however, it’s only 62 yards per game. If we had a RB only rushing for 62 yards per game as a featured back we would be looking to replace them.

Based on the original benchmark of a 14 game season, we should be looking for guys that can go for 1150-1200, which is like 75 yards per game.

Yeah... spot on.

To get to a Pro Bowl, you’ve basically gotta be over 1,400 now-a-days.

by DrewsLions on Mar 10, 2010 2:30 PM EST up reply actions

he did it in

13, and 15 games, as a rookie and second year player. IN BUFFALO!

by IAmGross on Mar 10, 2010 2:32 PM EST up reply actions

you discredit his stats

yet in reality they are better then any lions running back in years. When is the last time a lion had 1000 yards rushing in a season?

How many yards did Lynch get last year?

Didn’t he get beaten out by some undrafted guy named Fred?

If you get beat out at RB by a guy named Fred, well, I don’t want you. lol.

I see your point...

But with that being said, I’d take “Fred” in a heartbeat. :)

by abnerman on Mar 11, 2010 3:47 PM EST up reply actions

I'm with IAG on this one

if we can get him for a 4th rounder, I say go for it. I know we had a successful draft last year but we still had derrick as a 3rd rounder in there. We aren’t going to nail every pick and he is definitely more valuable than the average 4th rounder. That said, he needs to not get drunk and hit pedestrians

by stumpy8100 on Mar 10, 2010 12:29 AM EST reply actions

actually, i'm going to refute my own point

i just looked at the legal issues section of his wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marshawn_Lynch#Legal_Issues) and i’m thinking the guy could be out of the league before long…. stumpy is an idiot, don’t make that trade

by stumpy8100 on Mar 10, 2010 12:30 AM EST up reply actions

he would be worth a 4th

only if it was in 2012(get’em now pay for him later) :)

Lions fan for life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wonders how you produce 8 seasons of below .500 football and mange to keep your job as a gm.. here's 1 man wondering what kind of black mail Millen had on the Ford family.

by lionsfan_772 on Mar 10, 2010 2:04 AM EST reply actions

i wouldnt even do that..

We can get Joique Bell in the 4th (possibly) and I think he would be better than Lynch.

by ABN_MI_fan on Mar 10, 2010 4:20 AM EST up reply actions

Maybe for next years 4th

But with as deep as this draft is, I say no. I imagine there will be a bit of a fall of next year as a result. Maybe a 5th or 6th this year. There’s some character issues there that worry me.

by vanman on Mar 10, 2010 10:10 AM EST reply actions

I like him...

Just think he had a bad year…. all around.

by CLF on Mar 10, 2010 10:25 AM EST reply actions

I honestly think he

would be worth a 4th round pick, but I might rather see them draft a RB in the 4th round than trade the pick for him.

by abnerman on Mar 10, 2010 11:05 AM EST reply actions

All day..

if that rumor is true, do it immediately. The guy is a beast. He is still young and has fresh legs. Guy averages 4 ypc and is only 23. He can catch the ball too. Another weapon for the offense. ALL DAY!

by jeremy j on Mar 10, 2010 11:12 AM EST reply actions

I don't love it

but, he’s worth a 5th round pick for sure. however, do we need guys with off feild issues? no. so he better be swaering off his off the feild activities.

Nice

I wouldn’t mind getting Lynch, he still has lots of fresh legs ahead of him and as long as he stays out of trouble, he should be had for a 4th but maybe Mayhew can get him for a future pick or a 5th if their aren’t any other suitors out there.

He's a head case....

The guy beat up an old lady or something from what I have heard. He’s always in trouble and he has a poor work ethic. No thanks. Give me Jahvid Best in the second instead.

haha

i never heard anything quite like that.

Its tempting

It seems like very year this guy gets suspended though. I wouldn’t give them a 4th.

Character issues for me

He’s got talent but I just don’t see Schwartz committing to him.
