With the 44th pick of the 2010 Pride of Detroit Community Mock Draft, the New England Patriots select USC wide receiver Damian Williams.
Here is Quez81's reasoning for the pick:
Damian Williams is a great route runner and has decent quickness. He does a good job of finding soft spots in zones and does a good job on jump balls. He also has experience in a pro-style offense and is elusive in open space. The knock on Williams is he does not have the speed to stretch the field vertically, running only a 4.53 in the 40-yard dash. Also, he's not very physical but can become a better blocker, which goes along with his need to bulk up.Hopefully Williams can fill the #2 WR spot, if not become a good slot WR. He should be able to make an impact as a rookie. The possible absence of Wes Welker is the reason for this pick.
