Lions Release Four Players
With another draft in the books and quite a few undrafted free agents being signed, the Lions decided to make some room on the roster by releasing four players:
RB Cedric Peerman
WR Michael Ray Garvin
DT Terrance Taylor
CB DeAngelo Smith
None of these releases are a big deal or anything, but I was hoping Terrance Taylor would succeed with the Lions simply because he went to the University of Michigan. He was with the Colts and Panthers before coming to Detroit and has been released and re-signed once before already. I guess in that regard it's possible that some of these four players could be brought back at a later date, although the Lions drafted a player at each of their positions, so then again, maybe not.

Had big hopes
Forr Taylor as well he was a good college player but that stuff happens all the time. I imagine with Suh and Best drafted they felt no need to keep them on. Waiting on Northcutts number to be called he won’t be on the team positive of that.
Louis Delmas is gonna lay the MAC down on your candyass.
Call me Dr. Suhs
I was hoping for DeAngelo Smith to pan out.
Can they sign a player directly to the practice squad? Could this be a move to get some guys under the radar on the practice squad while other teams are distracted with the rookie free agents?
Also releasing Smith could mean we will be signing Adam Jones soon, he would be an upgrade. I suspect though that these players were at the bottom of our player evaluations and the rookies drafted pushed them off the team. That is a good thing for the Lions.
Practice Squad Guidelines
Choosing Practice Squad players happen after all organizations have solidified their 53-man rosters and each team has passed the 24 hours on getting contracts of players waived by the other 31 teams. Players can be signed at any time during the season; however, the team signing the player has to add the player to its 53-man roster.

Thanks Wayne, I went and read the link below too. I totally did not realize how vulnerable you are to losing guys off the practice squad during the season.

Therefore I don’t want the Lions to put anyone worth a crap on the practice squad. I would rather trade away someone that is not working out to open up a roster spot than try to hold players on the practice squad.
I still believe in Cedric Peerman
We just don’t have the space on the roster. I would have rather kept him than DeDe…but thats just me,

Probly not...
‘til after rookie camp, to see what we actually got. I’m kinda excited about getting Stamper as an udfa, he lead FUG in tackles last year, ahead of the highly touted Brandon Spikes, sounds like a good pick-up if he pans out. I think the released T&T for thye kid from Saginaw.
surprised the patriots didn't pick him up as quickly as they could.

Terrance Taylor
I really thought he would turn into a solid pro. I’ve watched him play since high school (my friend’s dad, Tony Annese, was the Head Coach of Muskegon High), and I was really happy to have him become a Lion. Maybe things will work out elsewhere
Michael Ray Garvin...
Ha ha, that was the guy that was always really fast and always a free agent I’d pick up in my online franchises for the Lions as a returner. He was like in the 40’s as a corner though, really sucked.
I think we'll see more of this sorta of thing in the future...
"Zack Follett: he will hurt your mind." - Pride Leader, Sean Yuille, wielder of the Ban Hammer.
2010 Wests Tigers : Current record - 4-2 : Current Position - 7th : Last game - Defeated by Canterbury Bulldogs 24 - 4
A lot more and its a good thing, I am thinking that we should start using our late round picks in packages to trade as much as possible.
For example trading that 7th rounder to the Eagles for a 6th next year that was awesome. We should always be willing to do that.
Big TT...
its a sad day seeing Taylor get cut, this kid has been a beast since club football. I really wanted to see him not only make the team but play a role for us, Muskegon, Mi is slowly putting itself on the map for high school football and to see a kid who was part of that get cut pisses you off.
