Sam Scroggins Scouting Report
LS Sam Scroggins (West Virginia State) - Undrafted Free Agent
I know what you're thinking. "A scouting report for a long snapper? What's the point?" While I agree that there's not much to say about a long snapper, he is the only rookie I haven't done a scouting report for, so I figured I might as well put up a post to wrap up this series until next year.
Experts' Opinions
As expected, there's nothing out there on Scroggins. He is a long snapper, after all.
Videos
Shockingly, there actually is a video of Scroggins practicing:
Outlook for 2010
Long snapper Don Muhlbach has been with the Lions since 2004, when he was signed as an undrafted free agent. Muhlbach did have some injury issues last year, but Dominic Raiola filled in for him as the Lions' long snapper and did just fine. I can't see Scroggins suddenly taking Muhlbach's spot away from him, so my guess is this move was made simply so the Lions' have someone they could potentially bring in if Muhlbach suffered an injury that kept him out for more than a few weeks.
Previously: Ndamukong Suh, Jahvid Best, Amari Spievey, Jason Fox, Willie Young, Tim Toone, Matt Clapp, Mike Moore, Contrevious Parks, Richard Dickson, Chima Ihekwoaba, Robert Callaway, Ryan Stamper, Aaron Berry, Randy Phillips

Muhlbach . . .
If I remember, Muhlbach’s got an incredibly fast snap; they buy something like two tenths of a second of time when he’s in there; helps keep the rush away. Maybe Scroggins will just help keep Muhlbach’s snap count low this summer.
Peace

We should have used a 4th round pick on that long snapper from TCU.
You know, since Mel Kiper had him as a top 5 player left on the board starting in the 4th round. LOL, of course I’m joking, but this just reminded me of that, and that, in turn, reminded me of how big of a joke Mel Kiper actually is.
the long snapper is #69
coincidence?
man am I immature…
In life, a man is either the hammer or the anvil. Ndamukong Suh is both

So did i just watch my first Lions pratice of the year? So does Sam make the pratice team?
1 slice, 1 beer, 5 more reps.
He sounds versatile
TE, LB, DE, LS… We’ll see about that. I heard the staff likes to have their players versatile, but sheesh.
It was awful nice of Will Ferrell to donate that gymnasium.
Oh wait, it says “Farrell” not “Ferrell”. I thought for a second that WIll Ferrell was a fan of specialist training camps.
