Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

Monday Notes: Randy Phillips Expected To Sign With Lions This Week

  • John Niyo reports that safety Randy Phillips is expected to sign with the Lions before this week's minicamp. Phillips was supposed to sign with the Lions right after the draft, but he had to wait until some problems with his shoulder cleared up.
  • The situation with Ryan Stamper is very similar. He was supposed to sign with the Lions after the draft, but that never happened due to injury issues. The difference now is that Stamper will only try out with the Lions before training camp next month, so it's not guaranteed that he will in fact sign.
  • Is C.C. Brown the favorite to start alongside Louis Delmas at safety? Tom Kowalski thinks so.
  • Nate Burleson has no problem with being Robin while Calvin Johnson plays Batman in the Lions offense.
  • Tight ends are going to be a big part of the Lions' offense.
  • Former Lions cornerback and one-time Mr. Irrelevant Ramzee Robinson has been claimed by the Washington Redskins.
  • It's probably only a matter of time until the preseason is shortened and the regular season is expanded.
  • Roger Goodell and John Madden are going to go on a training camp tour this summer.

Sounds good that he is getting signed

Hopefully he is one of those diamonds in the rough. If he is, then we got a pretty capable saftey duo. Stamper was quite productive in Flordia so maybe the same with him. If nothing else, we got more bodies to play with during training camp and see what works.

I like phillips I think he can atleast be productive on special teams

C.C is favorite to start because there isn’t much competiton for him. Bullocks is better but his injury record is killing him I think. Pettibeast and Chef should be good focal points on the offense with Heller and Gronk as good depth theres no reason to not use a lot of TE formations especially in the red zone. TE are great endzone targets for younger QBs I think there size gives them easier targets to hit. As for Nate….don’t be robin he’s a little to….HELLO

you can be alfred Nate :)

I hope CC Brown doesn't start

He struggled on a pretty good Giants D and obvious struggled a lot in Houston. I don’t see how he suddenly does a good job for us after playing so bad for stronger Ds than ours.

Totally Different System Here.

He will be a much better player in this defensive system then he was in NY. Will he be a star? No. Will he be better then he was in NY? Yes.

He will be better

but hes still not all that great. There are some big holes in his game.

The Robin reference doesn't do it for me

If anything he has to be Starscream, it just makes sense.

Recepticon sounds pretty sweet

Although it loses geek points for lack of authenticity. And Bryant Johnson can be the Dropinator.
