Free Agent Linebacker Isaiah Ekejiuba Visits Lions

The Lions hosted free agent linebacker Isaiah Ekejiuba for a visit on Wednesday, according to National Football Post. Ekejiuba was released by the Raiders earlier this month, and with training camps getting underway this weekend, he is looking for a new home.

Ekejiuba is apparently an outstanding special teams player, so it's no surprise that the Lions are interested in him. The Lions' special team play was very disappointing last year, and they have made strides this offseason to improve that unit by changing coaches and bringing in a few special teams-oriented players. Ekejiuba would be another one, as he has been an alternate for the Pro Bowl for his special teams play.

In addition to visiting the Lions, Ekejiuba was in Seattle meeting with the Seahawks for a couple days last week. The Browns are also reportedly interested in him.

Let's get him, if only for the special teams ability

A very good special teams is the difference between a 6-10 team and a 9-7 team

I was hoping we'd pick him up...

when the Raiders released him. I wish we would make a move in regards to weakside LB or S. Don’t get me wrong, I like Follett, but I’d prefer he earn the spot and not just get it by default.

should be an interesting camp… fights for all positions… it will be nice to get him…. who would he push out if he makes the roster… 53 players stay on the team… there are 80+ fighting for a roster spot .. the cuts are going to be huge when they are announced.. but the lions will be better in the long run… perhaps the best team in since Millen got here.. what a roster purge!!!

GO LIONS in 2010! the transformation starts now.. they have much to do.

it seems like...

him and Landon Johnson would fight for a spot, otherwise perhaps Dizon is out as well.

Based on everything I've read about Ekejiuba, he's absolutely the bottom of the barrel at linebacker

So if we keep him it would be an indication of how much we’re valuing special teams this year.
