Around SBN: NFL Owners Vote to Change Trade Deadline

As Training Camp Approaches

What is the one thing everyone here at POD will be looking for?

Personally, I'm most interested in the match-ups between the o- and d-lines. I'm curious to see how Suh, Vanden Bosch and company perform. Especially Vanden Bosch. If Suh can be his Hanesworth, then we should see big things from KVB this year. I'm also looking to see if our o-line can hold up against these guys in camp. I like to think we've improved our d-line to at least the top 10-15 in the league. Seeing how our o-line holds up in camp will be a good indicator of how they'll handle the opposition in the regular season.

We're getting closer and closer. Can't wait to find out our 53. Go Lions!

I want to see reports on Guns demenor in camp towards the DBs.

I think post practice comments by Gun about the DBs are going to be the most telling on the progress of our DBs as a unit and if he truly seems pleased and gives high praise to someone other than Delmas I think we might be looking at a serviceable unit for the upcoming season,

Stafford

I still all starts and ends with him… I like Hill, but the difference between Hill and Staffords ceiling is the difference between 2 wins and 8 wins…

yep

Stafford’s development is the key to this team. I anticipate big steps for him this year and we should see this in camp.

I am also interested in how dominant Suh will be. I anticipate that he will hit the ground running and play like a veteran right away. He is a monster.

I for one am looking forward to seeing if some of these guys got bigger

Cliff tweeded he added on 10lbs of muscle. Dizon has reported, he got bigger. I am interested to find out if any of the other players are hitting the weights in the off-season. Getting bigger and stronger just like what Schwartz says he wants this team to be.

Line play is going to be everything for this team

Both OL and DL. Good OL play means holes for Best and protection for Stafford which is key to letting our offense show what it can do. Good pressure against the pass and run support will make our vulnerable secondary look more solid than it actually is and allow us to play more freely without having to worry about using complicated blitz schemes to try to get pressure.

Stafford

That is what I am most concerned about and most intrigued by. I think our success hinges on whether he plays well or not. He has the talent around him now..its all up to him at this point.

Defense

I am excited about our DL, perhaps the best since the years of Bubba Baker. While I think we are really short at LB and DB, I think this DL can mask some of that. I like the DB speed we are developing and if you can get some pressure maybe we could make some picks. So who starts, gets cut, and what we get from others is what I am really looking forward to.

I Want to see how the biggest question mark pans out (The secondary) Who wins starting jobs. Also i want to see follett win the starting olb spot

I just

want to see our remaining 2 rook’s signed before camp.

"I’d probably get arrested because football’s my only time I get to go out there and hit people as hard as I can, and it’s legal," Follett said. "I need that once a year."

I picked other.

Just because I’m excited for all of it. The o-line v. the d-line. Seeing how Suh, Best, and Spievey perform. Seeing how Stafford looks with CJ, Burleson, and Scheffler. Seeing how healthy Smith and Pettigrew are. Seeing how Follett looks and if Avril is turning into the beast he can be. Who can win the safety spot opposite Delmas. I’m just excited for it all.

Forgot about Pettigrew

That’s up there on my list as well.

LBs and KVB

I think Peterson will have a resurgence this year. With the additions on the DL, if he comes into camp prepared to get back to pro bowl form he can have an outstanding year. That should free up the young guys to excel.

Ya know I am more pumped to see what my boy Matt brings to the table in year 2. I see big stride in his game comming by the season opener.

I don't think there's one thing I can put my finger on

I’m just generally excited. I wanna make sure Best and Suh are in camp on time though, so that’s what I voted for.

Voted 'Other'

Because I want to see some football. The Lions should be improved over last year. Staff, Megatron, Sheff, Burlson, Best, Smith, ‘Grew, and you’re talking major weapons. The d-line has a completely different look from last year with KVB, CWill, Suh, and DeVries (back). SLHill has a full season under his big belt. Pain Train in the LB corp, Bly back with the Lions (can he play safety with Delmas). So much to look forward to… and our record is 0-0… man I love the beginning of the season!
