Madden 11 Video: Lions Win Super Bowl, Have Parade, Meet President Obama
I know, I know, this is my second Madden-related post of the day, but this video was too awesome not to post.
In last year's edition of Madden, I have to admit, I was a little disappointed by the celebration after I finally won the Super Bowl with the Lions in my fifth or sixth season. This year, however, the post-Super Bowl celebration has been completely revamped and is absolutely awesome. Not only is a virtual Roger Goodell there to present the MVP and Lombardi trophies after the game, but there is a parade and a scene that includes the players meeting with President Obama. That's right -- President Obama is even in the game.
Check it out:
(Thanks to Shomes for the heads up.)

Wow
I liked that they mentioned the Lions history, 1 playoff win in 50 years etc… also thanks for the front page on my first post! lol
This is awesome
My biggest question is..franchise mode is 30 years long. After Super Bowl 2040 are they going to still have Goodell and Obama in the cut scene? I would guess so.

Obama gets number 44?
I’m not sure about everyone else, but I would rather have Best the O’Bama.
The post super bowl celebration is pretty nice, I have to admit. I still don’t like Madden though. If they could only revamp everything else, then maybe I’d actually buy their game!
I'll take obama
rewrite a few rules….

I like it
The Superbowl has always kind of been lacking in presentation. I wonder if they’ve upped the commentary a little bit more for the SB and the playoffs. Broke the immersion a little to hear Colinsworth saying: “blah, blah stupid Colinsworth voice, blah, just gotta pack it in and try to get it together for the next game” with like 3 minutes to go in a playoff game.
I wonder if there’s an option to tell Obama you voted Republican
LOL
"We lost!" Delmas yelled at reporters. "What you want? What you got to ask me?"
Delmas stared at reporters defiantly.
"That’s what I thought,"
"It's a hard division," Delmas said. "It's very big, but football is football. You've got to strap it up and go out there and play and that's what we plan on doing."

Obama is in the game?
I really don’t know if that’s a good thing or not. On the one hand, it’s cool that he’s got enough respect for the Madden franchise to allow it, but… I don’t know, is it professional for the leader of our country to be in a video game? Is he going to show up as an unlockable character in Gears of War 3 next? Is Prime Minister Gordon Brown going to be in the next GTA game set in London? It’s just kind of… weird I guess.
I love how we beat the Colts to take it though (Peyton looked extra salty walking off the field), looks like this year’s Madden is going to be some of gravy.
gordon brown is not the pm anymore
Who knows if they even asked him. I don’t think they have to get clearance to use his image. Being the ultimate public figure and all.
Since you get tp meet the president after winning the superbowl, I kind of like it. Realism. Next year I hear they will be randomly suspending your players for taking roids. Except if you are playing the vikings.

Obama is much more than a political figure
He’s already been mentioned in songs, and has already put himself in the basketball news. Every superbowl winning team visits the white house…the only thing the game did was show in during a celebration. Nothing wrong with that

do they even need obamas permission?
he’s already been made a character in numerous comic books including spiderman, As for the video, i almost cried, great find…
I like the feeling of hunting down what I feed my family. If there’s a beast out there capable of hunting down Brock Lesnar, he would do it and make me the trophy on his den wall. Dude...
There are video games where the object is to assassin .. assasinna… kill the actual leader of a sovereign nation, not to mention hundreds or thousands of digitized versions of its citizens.
I think having the president shake hands with the Superbowl-winning team in a video game is not only appropriate, but a good thing overall. When I scored an interview with President Bush, I started running around the office jumping for joy. One person who knew my politics asked why I was so excited for him. I was dumbfounded: regardless of whom I cast my vote for in the last or next election, this is the leader of my country, and when he deigns to shake your hand, that is a huge honor.
It’s such a small thing, but consider that since the ‘70s, a kid’s first interaction with the Presidency comes from hearing his parents complain about the current office-holder. A little thing like having your Madden team meet the President of the United States has zero politics; it’s all about glorifying the office, and through it, the nation.
Football is transcendent like that. If you made every American list accomplishments they wished they could put on their life resumes, winning the Superbowl would probably be right up there with being filthy rich. It is a seminal achievement for anyone born in this country, and to have its sim demonstrate that through the symbolism (and realism) of meeting the President before the White House is, unequivocally, patriotic.

In a single post you dispelled any negative notions I had on the matter. Thank you.
I also recall Bill Clinton and Al Gore being unlockable characters in NBA Jam, and to my knowledge there weren’t any riots in Washington D.C. over it. I somehow equated it to President Obama appearing in a Hollywood movie, but they are obviously different circumstances; in a movie Obama would be dedicating large portions of time to filming while neglecting his genuinely important duties, while in a game that’s not the case.
I’ll try to not act like an old fart with a stick up his ass anymore guys.
lol!!!
video game super bowl celebrations have come a long way!! love the graphics on this game, and that really looks like staff and vanden bosch! i remember using the lions to win the super bowl in tecmo super bowl! not as elaborate a celebration as this.
Kevin Smith...
…was taken down waaaaaaaaay too easily. Clearly his rehabbing isn’t going as well as expected.

Wow
I never thought i’d live to see the day that the Lions would be lifting the lombardi trophy. and i’m 25 years old, which just makes that sentiment even more sad. I gotta say, I got a tiny bit teary eyed watching that.
Oh... my... god...
Gus Johnson already sounds freakin amazing. I can’t wait!
Side note, thank god they updated the player model for stafford, he looked fat and nothing like himself in last years.
Anybody notice the hit Tim Toone made on special teams
not only can he return kicks he’s a Follett wanna be a Colt player back-pedals as the stud from Weber State is in his vision LOL
Nice
Poor Peyton. Two years in a row.
And I bet it would really grate Obama’s cheese to have to welcome a Detroit team to the white house (being a Chicago fan and all).
Nice representation, actually. I just seemed so… strange. Probably my years of programing by the actual Lions to never expect such a thing.

Not to let you down, Profiler...
but it will. I’ve seen lots of early posts from people who have the game and the reviews are not very impressive….
sounds up to par for EA

Very cool vid and impressive update to the previously boring Super Bowl winning montage
And not to take away from that coolness, but they should have put this much effort into the franchise mode… lol.
Can’t say I’m excited to see ‘ol Barack in my Madden game, but oh well. I’m used to being disappointed by Madden.
I have to say that the players faces look exceptional this year and I was literally excited watching that video with the Lions depicted as Champs. Only a few more years until that becomes a reality… mark my words.
