C'mon Rams
Anyone else getting frustrated with the Rams? They should have had Bradford locked a long time ago. It's no mystery how much you'll have to pay. Take last years #1 deal and bump it up a bit. It's not like you just found out that the #1 pick costs a ton of money and now have to look through your organization to find the cash.
It's holding us up from signing Suh and Best! Step it up Rams!

I've heard he'll be a holdout...
….which means the Lions will just have to sign Suh and Best before Bradford.

Me too sandvet...
But I think the Lions need to just step up and sign Suh. Bradfords money should have nothing to do with what Suh gets.
And as far as Best....
I do not get why he hasn’t signed yet. He was the number 30 pick. He isn’t even in the same ballpark as Suh or Bradford.
Best and Matthews are waiting on Spiller
Thats how it goes.

Seriously?
You’re blaming the Rams because a rookie that has yet to do ANYTHING is asking for too much? I can’t believe people actually want to blame the organizations instead of these kids that want fucking $40 million in guaranteed money when they have yet to play a single down in the NFL.
Some people feel that all professional athletes are paid too much. They argue that making a million dollars a year to play a sport is crazy. I’m not as naive as these people, and I do understand that these athletes are generating millions for their owners even while making so much money themselves.
But NFL rookies are beyond ridiculous, particularly at the top of the first, and it really, REALLY pisses me off. I look at Stafford last season; this kid was 21 years old, hadn’t done shit professionally (and still hasn’t) and yet he felt entitled to, and signed, a bigger contract then Tom Brady. What the fuck is wrong with these players nowadays? Where is the compassion for the fan, the people that PAY YOUR SALARY?
I love me some NFL, but I am getting really sick and tired of the players feeling like they’re entitled to ridiculous contracts that they have yet to even begin to earn. I understand they’re just taking advantage of the system, but that doesn’t justify it.
I agree bro
However until a rookie wage scale is in place where all draft picks make the same dollar amount regardless of draft selection nothing will change. I would hate a lockout but if thats what it takes to fix this shit then I’m cool with it. No way should an unproven rook make more than even the shittiest vet. Just my 2 cents.

its just the way it works
I dont mind the amounts NFL players make. Comapared to other sports, they get modest pays, and most NFL players are much better pro athletes, esp compared to b-ball players…they really think they are entitled

I agree, it is the way it works, for now.
These players have been "earning’ millions for years, they just haven’t been paid for it. I can’t hate on Suh being smart in the last year (un-capped) when he has the chance.
But he said he is not gonna hold-out, so we will see what happens by Friday night.
You guys need to read the post
Quoting myself:
I do understand that these athletes are generating millions for their owners even while making so much money themselves.
But NFL rookies are beyond ridiculous
I have no problem with NFL players making millions; I have problems with rookies who have yet to play a single down earning $40 million in guaranteed money.
I have read the post.
I’m saying that I would be more concerned if Suh didn’t take this seriously. He is in a very unique position to make alot of money, and has already pledged money to his Alma mater. You can’t fault the kid for trying to get his.
As far as “earning” money. I was referring to the fact that these kids make millions for Universities and don’t get shit. If I was the #2 pick in the last draft where you can make up the money you have produced for the last couple of years. (no matter where it comes from) I would take it.
If Monday comes around and he is not signed, I’ll be pissed! But right now I’m fine with it. Just be in Pads when the team suits up on Tuesday.
?
You mention that he’s pledging millions to Nebraska, and then follow it up by saying that we should be responsible for the money that he made for their school while he played there? If he wants to recoup the money he made them while he played there, why is he giving them millions now? I’m confused, man.
Suh is a StandUp guy, no question, yet....
That is my point.!
He know that Nebraska made $$$$ off of him, and still he continues to give back. That shows integrity to me.
I’m not saying that we should be RAPED for $$$ cause Suh needs retributions for his college play.
I’m saying the kid is sharp as a tack and knows the situation he is in, as long as he is in pads on Tuesday, I won’t be mad.
Agree, but disagree
I do agree that it is ridiculous that rookies make so much money. I also think it stinks that the worst teams, who get the first picks, have to spend a fortune to get a guy who may never pan out. Yet the better teams can get just as good of a pick as far as the chance the player will be NFL caliber, and pay them less, thereby using money somewhere else.
However, this is how the system runs now and that’s what we have to deal with. It’s not Suh’s fault, nor Bradfords, nor any other rookie. That’s the system. What makes me upset, and why I posted the thread in the first place, is that teams and agents know going in how much they have to spend once they see where they draft. The Rams knew they were going to have to open the bank. They should have done it already and moved on.
Also, another thing to keep in mind is that in order to collect the signing bonus, teams do put in performance based levels which the player has to meet. The rookies don’t get a big check right when they sign. They have to “earn” it to some degree. I just read how the Oakland LB who just signed needs to be involved in like 35% of plays this year, and then 45% next year in order to get the full signing bonus money. Stafford also had a bunch of benchmarks he had to hit last year as well. So it is a bit misleading, though they still are getting PAID.
