Haynesworth fails conditioning test

This is possible good news for the Lions. This could be the straw that breaks the camels back for Shanahan. He is probably so fed up with everything that if he doesnt trade him for basically nothing, then he will be cut.

If all of this ends up happening, I wouldnt be surprised if the Lions decide to trade a 6th rounder for him or if the Lions may be one of the only teams he agrees to go to if they wanna sign him. If we sign him to a 2 year deal, not too much money, and loaded with incentives I think he'll fit in perfect with the Lions.

If cut or able to be picked up for a 6th/7th rounder would you make the deal?

We can talk about it if he gets cut…. no trade.

We want to make our OWN contract with our OWN terms….no trade.

From what I seen

It looks like they tried to make him fail so they didn’t have to deal with him for now.

+1

A guy plays hard and plays really well during his contract years (contract year, franchise year), then gets all the money he could possibly ask for, on a long-term deal, and then refuses to try at all because he doesn’t like his role in the defensive scheme.

For the money Washington gave him, he has absolutely no right to complain about anything. Hell, even if they made him return kicks he should go out there and do it with a smile.

He’s a selfish, me-first player with well-documented attitude problems, who already got his fat paycheck. No thanks.

Hey that's a timeout, I can play right? yeah, get me--get the F-- Help me up...I can throw the ball if you need me to throw the ball...

I dont blame the guy

Players have power over what team they play for only a couple times in their careers. Albert made it clear he only wanted to play 4-3. The skins said they were a 4-3 team and he signed with them. Now, things change and shit happens and you have to roll with it, but I do feel for the guy.

by ATL Lion on Jul 29, 2010 6:53 PM EDT up reply actions

I agree

with the changing of defenses on him. He signed with the understanding of one thing and got another. The way he’s handled has been very childish but in away I agree. You have to see it from his side too.

Offer Williams and a 6th for Fat Albert and be done with all this talk.

Then the Williams wall in Minn will take back seat too our DT’s.

He was destined to fail it's an underhanded ploy by Shannahan to recover money.

He is getting back at Fat Albert for missing OTA’s I’m sure the NFLPA will get involved and have private physicals from specialist in sports medicine do an evaluation. A team doctor is just that a team doctor if he was told to find something you can bet he’d find something.

by Wayne Fontes on Jul 29, 2010 3:41 PM EDT reply actions

I disagree,

Shannahan is doing Albert a favor… If the coach just let him back in without making it tough, what kind of respect would he get from his team mates??

Shannahan kicking Fatty’s ass is sticking to the mentality and philosophy that he’s bringing to this team. If Albert is to be a leader of this team, he has to prove he’s physically and mentally tough enough.

WHY WHY WHY

would we want him? Why? Someone tell me why we want to resort back to getting players that are rejects from other teams. He’s washed up.

No

He’s not washed up but, you’re right, we don’t need him. It’s way too many negatives. Let’s put our money towards the future, not throwing it at a team.cancer. It’s not going to happen anyway.

Didn't he lose like 35lbs???

I think he lost the weight so he could play outside in the ’Skins 3-4 defense. I guess ’ol Shanahan wants him to put the weight back on.

You guys aren't stupid

So you have to know this wasn’t legitimately a “test”, it was payback for the media frenzy that has devoured the Redskins, and for skipping all offseason activities. Deangelo Hall, A CORNERBACK, said he doesn’t think he would be able to pass that “test”. Shanahan is just showing everyone that he runs shit in Washington; I would be extremely surprised if he ended up somewhere else.

by motown313 on Jul 29, 2010 9:06 PM EDT reply actions

Sure, it was a fake test

made to fail the guy because he skipped OTAs.

If I were a player on the team it would prove to me that no matter how bad you act, the front office and coaches will be bigger dicks than you. I mean, what does this prove? That Shany is a bigger dick than Al? If I were another player on the sidelines of this fracas, I would be trying to get myself out of there ASAP. No good can come from a childish pissing contest like this and the people who should know that best are the coaches.

Its not fair...

BOO HOO HOO!

LEAVE HAYNESWORTH ALONE!!!!

by CLF on Jul 30, 2010 9:34 AM EDT up reply actions

Nice

Its more of a “wow. Look at how dysfunctional the Skins have gotten” than a plea to be nice to Haynesworth.

If Schwartz had to publicly humiliate a problem player I hope he would do it in such a way that it didn’t make the other players think less of him as a coach.

by ATL Lion on Jul 30, 2010 12:05 PM EDT up reply actions

The hammer has dropped...

and the dysfunctionality will cease.

Shannahan will not stand for drama queens and pussies.

by CLF on Jul 30, 2010 1:41 PM EDT up reply actions

I sort of agree ATL

On the one hand, I feel like Haynesworth needs to experience some kind of repercussions for what he’s done. On the other hand, it just seems like Shanahan is going about this all wrong. As a coach, how can you possibly think that a guy will want to play hard for you when you’re publicly humiliating him?

It’s a difficult situation, to be sure. I’m not sure how I would have handled the situation as coach.

by motown313 on Jul 30, 2010 2:58 PM EDT up reply actions

Haynesworth humiliated himself...

by not being in good enough shape….

JEESH!!!

Like I said…. Shannahan gave Haynesworth an opportunity to prove himself… and he failed.

Was this ‘test’ planned before AH got there, or Are you guys insinuating that Shanny just kept adding one more gasser after AH finished 2?

Jeesh!

by CLF on Jul 30, 2010 3:12 PM EDT up reply actions

Really Shany does not stand for drama queens????

What was Shannon Sharpe? Bill Romanowski???? If the guy can play Shany will turn his head and cough, just like every other coach in the NFL.

Did they continually fail conditioning tests?

Shanahan is just saying

My dick is bigger than your dick.

its that simple.

by CapitolLions on Jul 30, 2010 11:56 AM EDT reply actions

WHAT?????????

Shannahan is the coach.

Seems to me he’s “COACHING”. Here’s a guy that, regardless of money, MISSED, CHOSE TO MISS, ALLLLL ALLLLL of the offseason programs, Mandatory or not….

and you think because Shannahan is requiring a bit more from this player… he’s having a dick measuring contest???

Fuck that.

Shannahan is being a coach. Haynesworth is paying for his choices. The rest of the players are witnessing their coach ignore the media and pin headed comments like yours, to make sure that EVERY player will sweat the same.

This ‘conditioning’ test is meant to be tough… its meant to replace ALL the offseason workouts that Haynesworth missed.

I’d be doing the same thing.

because he read your post

it essentially says that this is merely an issue of Shanahan seizing an opportunity to demonstrate his authority. this is not true.
