I love...

how the lady who won thinks she’s so superior to sports…she’s like “football, pssh, what are we, cavemen.”

I'm glad someone got it right

I mean, to be the worst is one thing, but to be such a nonentity that no one can come up with an answer to that question would be, somehow, worse.

I don't know

I guess I am glad that someone got it right, but it is somehow comforting that after our 0-16 season, we weren’t the obvious choice on people’s minds.

silver lining?

By saying “as of 2010” Jeopardy concedes that the Lions may play in the super bowl this year (i.e. before the reruns hit).

I actually have a soft spot for the show considering that, true story, I was a contestant once. Or, technically, four times. I made it to the teen tournament when I was in high school, got to be on TV, got to meet Alex, the whole 9 yards. I didn’t technically win (long story, I basically ended up betting too much), but I did leave with a decent amount of cash. So yeah, this hurts, but I still love the show.

That's awesome

My brother is a big fan of the show and is probably smart enough to be on it.

you should tell him to take the test

Apparently it’s all online now. I was 16 and bored and saw a commercial for it so I sent in a postcard and had to drive an hour to a test site (and that was almost 9 years ago now). Nowadays it’s way easier. No reason for him not to try. Honestly, you two can do it together for bonding or something. It’s actually a lot of fun (even if you know you’re going to suck).

As for my story, i was in the teen tournament that aired in 2002. I won the first two rounds to make it to the finals, and then won the first round of the finals (it’s a two day, cumulative format). Going into the final game, i don’t know what happened but I just hit a funk, and lagging way behind after dominating for the first three games. I was in third place with three clues left, but one of the last ones was a daily double. I bid a huge amount and nailed it, which pushed me into second place, still a good distance behind the leader.

Now, the guy in the lead I had played against before and beaten (he made it to the finals as a wild card), and also he was a huge tool. Not a bad guy, per se, but nerdy in that way that isn’t fun or pleasant. I really didn’t want him to win. So going into final jeopardy, forgetting that the money I had I got to keep (so, basically, i was wagering my own actual money), I made a huge bet with the hope of passing him. The category was stupid (20th century british literature), but I HAD to beat him. Hence the stupid bet. Anyways, the question was hard, and all three of us got it wrong. The guy in the lead, though, was so afraid of me that he bet huge too, and the guy in third place (which would have been me, if I didn’t get that daily double) bet the least and ended up winning the whole thing. I bet $12,000 actual dollars on the final. If I had bet $9,000, I would have won the whole thing ($50k and a car). Yeah, it’s frustrating.

For what it’s worth, the guy who was in third place and ended up winning the entire thing is a legitimately cool guy. We still keep in touch a little. Even though i lost, I was still thrilled that he won and not the douchenozzle who had the lead.

You can tell...

…She’s a Lions’ fan.

She answers it right and knows she’s right but not even happy about it even when she doubled up.

And then when Alex says she’s right, she gives a small smirk like, “ya, I know Trebek.”

I dunno as much as that would suck

The Bills did something that will likely never happen again..On retro spect there is something to be “somewhat” proud of….
