Report: Jahvid Best's Deal Includes $7.1 Million Guaranteed

Aaron Wilson of National Football Post reports the following about Jahvid Best's deal:

Jahvid Best's five-year deal has a maximum value of $12.7 million and $7.1 million in total guaranteed money, per a league source.

With incentives and stuff like that figured in, the most Best could earn is $12.7 million, according to Wilson. He will at least get $7.1 million, but the rest is not guaranteed.

Very reasonable

I expect Best to earn every penny he gets.

If he ends up as the starter..

..he’ll be a holdout in year 3 or 4 of that deal. But then again, if he’s holding out for more cash, that means we have something in this guy, so I don’t have a problem with that.
I’m just saying, don’t expect him to be making 2.3mil 5 years from now if he starts putting up 1000 yd seasons.

Mayhewed?

Did we Mayhew our own guy? I’m sure the front office, however, would love to be put in a position of owing this guy a raise down the road. Way to go Jahvid. The fans will support your willingness to earn it rather than demand it.
