Practice Begins Without Ndamukong Suh

From the Associated Press:

The Detroit Lions have opened training camp without Ndamukong Suh.

The Lions practiced Saturday afternoon while team officials and Suh’s representatives worked on reaching a contract agreement. The St. Louis Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers have agreed to terms with their draft choices, leaving Suh the only unsigned player picked in the top three.

With Suh missing this afternoon's practice, the new hope is to have him agreed to a deal by 9 a.m. tomorrow, which is when the next Lions practice is.

UPDATE: The AP article now includes this quote from Tom Lewand:

“I just got off the phone with those guys a minute ago,” Lions president Tom Lewand said soon after practice started. “We had an extended conversation and I’m sure we’ll have another one shortly. Both sides are focused on getting this done as quickly as possible.”

As Lewand went on to say later in the article, hopefully we can stop talking about contracts and start talking about football.

Don’t have to prove that .. Sean already posted that detail a few days back

So, for all the talk that Suh put out there about wanting to be at camp on time….he’s the only one of the top 5 draft picks that hasn’t signed….freaking agents…

You can try to blame the agents

but at the end of the day, they work for Suh, and he’s the one that signs the contract, not them. Remember, he has the same agents that Crabtree had last year… let’s just pray he doesn’t hold out as long as Crabtree did.

I’m hoping the next update you post is that they’ve agreed to terms or have inked a contract. We must use the Schwartz to make this happen! (I couldn’t fight the Spaceballs joke any longer)

Not good...

Suh with all the talk of coming to camp on time and not is upsetting. He still has control of his agents even if they do the work for him. I am sick of the these agents doing this kind of stuff. Further more what upsets me if that Suh is not even in Detroit. If he wanted to be in camp on time and a deal happened at the last minute, he would not have made it period. He should have already moved there, at least came in for a physical or whatever he could have done that is not ON the field. He should have at least showed up as a supporter. What gives him the right to say, I am going to sit at home and not even fly over there till my contract is complete. He has acted very classy up untill this point and that is distasteful IMO. How do you do that when your job and company is about to give you 40 or so million ?!

Not at home

Suh isn’t just sitting at home. His home is in Portland Oregon. He’s at the University of Nebraska keeping in shape until the contract is ready. I would rather have him here in Michigan…but at least he’s halfway here.

If I could be a fly on the wall.....

and listen to what agents are brainwashing Suh with. Something like: Suh: “Common guys, I made a committment to Detroit, let’s get this done” Agents: I understand Suh, but in this case we know what’s best, We got other top tier players a gazillion dollars and look where they are." Suh should say: A) Ok guys, I trust you. or
                                                                          B) You got one day, or I’m gonna be really mad
or C) YOUR FIRED!

“Hello Detroit, I’ll be there tommorrow, Mr. Lewand the contract you wrote up is fine”

All kidding aside, Suh made it painfully clear this would not happen. Stand by your word man.

Do you think the Lions could use a 47 yr old 220lb cornerback that runs a 5.02 40 that will take your head off?.........will play for beer!

Boycott #90 Jersey Until He Sacks Favre

So what if he’s got mad skills and every other First Round pick is scoring millions? He hasn’t played an NFL snap yet and needs to tell his agents to shut up so he can sign. Stop giving away iPads and put on some shoulder pads, dude. I’m with BBlades on this. D-town is suffering, we fans are tired of humiliation and being jerked around by fake team spirit. Prove it before, during and especially AFTER the money starts coming, Suh. Your contract may be near done, but RESPECT is earned. Come through on your other high profile remark and bury #4 in the turf like you said you wanted. Talk is cheap and I’m not a happy camper right now.

Why Favre?

So your saying he can have like 10 sacks during a season, but if he didn’t get to Favre you wouldn’t buy his jersey?

RIP Robyn Bailey 1961 - 2010. I love you mum.

He Said He Wanted To Sack Him the Most of Anyone

…so I’m just asking for a little accountability here. Did he mean that as much as not missing any camp, for example?
