Lions Training Camp Notes: Louis Delmas Practices Again; Calvin Johnson Out With Ankle Injury
- Louis Delmas was back on the field yesterday, marking his second consecutive day of practice. That is the first time he's accomplished that feat so far in training camp and is a good sign that his groin injury is on the road to recovery.
- Jared DeVries was unable to practice again on Tuesday. He returned to the practice field on Monday, but sat out both sessions yesterday.
- Calvin Johnson also sat out both sessions of practice on Tuesday with what is being called a "minor" ankle injury.
- Joining DeVries and Johnson on the list of players who missed both practices were Dan Gronkowski, Trevor Canfield, Lawrence Jackson, Ko Simpson, Aaron Berry and Jack Williams.
- Stephen Peterman practiced in the afternoon after missing the morning session, as did Jason Fox. Shaun Hill, Kevin Smith and Brandon Pettigrew practiced in the morning but not in the afternoon.
- A key for Matthew Stafford in his second year will be to throw fewer interceptions by not trying to make plays that aren't there.
- Tom Lewand's suspension begins today.
- Single-game tickets for Lions game go on sale today.
- The Bengals signed safety Marvin White, who was released by the Lions last week.

The only person who has not had at least 1 practice
is Jack Williams. I am real high on the guy for how he played in Denver, but how long are we going to have him on the team if he can’t get on the field?
They will keep Williams around, remember he is still young and has great upside. There is really no reason to release him if he can’t make it back for week one they will probably leave him on the PUP list until week six (kind of sure how that works.) Knee injuries take a while to come back from and if they didn’t want him around that probably wouldve let him loose already. GO LIONS!!

You are correct
If he starts the season on the PUP list, he’s out until at least week six.

Jack Williams
Really hope he is healthy soon. I would like to see what he can do in one of these last two pre-season games so he can get some reps out there. If not I expect him to hopefully impress during the season.

Some Lions love from yahoo sports
Esp. Cole who picks the Lions to make the playoffs :)
I can’t get it to link correctly .. It’s a 5 min yahoo sports video asking Silver and Cole about teams who go from bottom to the top … and they both like the Lions with Cole picking us to go to the playoffs …
Someone must have spiked Cole's kool-aid
Oh you didn't know?? You're ass better CALLLLLLLL SOMEBODY!!!!!
I think so.
He rolled his eyes when Tiki picked the Texans to make the playoffs.

I am not....
sure about the tits. They could go either way. Their defense is extremely shaky this year. No where near as dominant as it has been in past years. Don’t know if the combo of VY and CJ can keep them in games.
But then we are in the same boat except our offense has quite a few more weapons….as long as our RB’s can hang on to the damn rock! That was why Tiki picked us as the darkhorse candidates out of the AFC South.
Yeah, we’re drinking pretty strong Kool-aide over there as well.

Calvin said that the injury was minor and that its football and things happen. I don’t forsee him missing much time. GO LIONS!!!

.500
I would consider it a success if they can get to or approach .500 this season. The Super Bowl is always the ultimate goal, but its not reasonable yet. I would be ecstatic being around .500, my Kool-Aid is in the cupboard, but man am I thirsty. GO LIONS!!

Maybe .. maybe not :)
When I think about the last few years, I say to myself .. c’mon .. be realistic .. but when I see how we are performing, it’s not potential anymore, it’s performance … We haven’t gone all out since it’s pre season .. no one has .. but with our D-Line and the weapons on offense, I think an All Out war will be to our advantage …
Major issue is depth .. and it is realistically possible that we get lucky with injuries, and lack of depth stays an option we don’t need at all …
Either way, it is getting better and better … the opinion out there .. of the lions …
A Big Thanks to Bill Ford JR :)
You’re right nobody has gone all out, and starters haven’t seen a full game on either side. And I think the d-line will be the most improved aspect of the team, which in turn improves the entire defense. I saw it last year with the Titans (I live in Nashville but was born and raised in the mitten) so its a lot easier for me to see the Titans and after Babyworth left for Washington the push up front was for not and the secondary was left out to dry. And the year before that (Babyworths contract year) the secondary was stellar a had a couple of Pro Bowlers in Griffin and Finnegan, the d-line changes the whole look of the defense. And we are starting to get some play makers on the offensive side of the ball, and I think Staff will turn some heads this year. But let’s all hope that the injury bug is exterminated at the end of the preseason, as this team (as most) can’t afford injuries. And I am glad to continually hear other teams fans praising what we are doing and showing as a team.

I know the D line is getting all the attention
but I am most excited to see the O line perform far better than expected so far. The Addition of Sims and the return of Peterman has solidified the line.
With the Addition of Best, opposing D lineman have to worry about him breaking a long one off on them too helping to slow their progress to the QB.
Best is Stafford’s best friend right now and as he applies his will on other teams Ds with more carries the O line will continue to perform and look better.
Lions fans deserve better than being the laughing stock of the NFL. Lets all hope they are heading in the right direction finally.
He said it was minor and that in football things happen. But I would venture to guess that he sees even more limited snaps this week, as the real games aren’t far around the corner.
