My season prediction
For the first time in almost ten years I can get excited for an upcoming season and look myself in the mirror and know I wasn't lying to myself
Wk1 @Chicago: Lions put the NFC north on notice by crushing the Bears in week 1, Stafford passes for over 300 yards, Calvin catches 150 of them along with 2 TD's, Best has a TD run over 50 yards, Defense records 6 sacks and one results in a fumble ran back for a TD. 1-0
Wk2 Eagles: Philly brings us back down to earth by Kolb killing our db's for over 400 yards, D-line holds strong but can't make up for a weak secondary. Avg. performances by all offensive players 1-1
Wk3 @Minnesota: Yes I will say it the Lions start out 2-0 on the road, Our D-line shuts down AP, and rushes Favre into bad throws all day. 3 picks for the day, 4 sacks, Stafford hooks up with his best friend for another 2 TD's and Kevin Smith grinds out tough yards. Lions get some sweet revenge on Farve 2-1
Wk4 @Greenbay: Sorry see back to wk2, Rogers kills us for over 450 yards and the Greenbay curse continues 2-2
Wk5 Rams: Hello number 1 meet number 2!!! D-line kills Bradford lead by Suh getting 3 sacks, Best leads the way with over 150 yards, Stafford passes for 3 TD's 3-2
Wk6 @Giants: Lions continue the trend of playing well on the road and beat the Giants by a Hansen field goal, Stafford leads the late drive, db's slowly are starting to gel, D-line ranks top 5, 4-2
Wk7 Redskins: Typical lions build up steam then a letdown, close game but Dono, and Shanny get us at home 4-3
Wk8 Jets: Lions lose a heart breaker to Sanchez, team plays well but Jet's D just too good 4-4
Wk9 @Bills: Lions go into Buffalo and stop the bills for 4 quarters, you name it we and we did it too them 5-4
Wk10 @Cowboys: Getting closer, Lions play well but slip off late in the game and lose 5-5
Wk11 Patriots: As much as it pains me to say we lose another close one again were still in the game in the 4th quarter 5-6
Wk12 Bears: D-line shuts down Forte', put's pressure on Cutler which results in??? anybody??? PICKS!!! 6-6
Wk13 Greenbay: Surprise, Surprise we get one of those wins we were't expecting, Gunther releases the hounds sacking and forcing Rogers into bad throws, Stafford has a game like last years Browns game leading the team to a come from behind victory 7-6
Wk14 @ Tampa Bay: The balls starting to get rolling here, Lions kill the Buc's in some nice cool December weather in Tampa 8-6 Note to all Lions fans, the P word starts to be spoken alot in POD
Wk15 @Miami: Should the Lions even return to Detroit with the next game being in Miami???? Henne, Marshal and the Big Tuna just a little to much for us, again that damn theme of staying close in the 4th but losing a close game 8-7
Wk16 Minny: Well Farve has killed us his entire career so it's only fitting that he finishes his career on a Sour note just like with the Packers, Jets and now Vikings!!!! D-line sacks farve silly and mixes up the run and pass just right so they can't cheat either way...!!!! LIONS WIN!!!! 9-7 Will we make the playoffs with that record ???? Don’t know

And I don't mean that in a bad way....
if you guys haven’t figured it out yet, I’m a Texans fan and our drink of choice is bleach…by the gallon for several years. I was wondering if I needed to stock up on something else since I am going to be a “bandwagon fan” because I followed Suh from his college playing days.
Also I am a big supporter of underdogs….and the people who follow their teams through the bad times as well as the good.
Ask so called fans of the cowturds what their worst record ever was and they can only remember the 2 – 14 seasons if they even remember that. I’ve gotten 3-13 as the worse season the cowturds have ever had when I ask. I lost count of the number of cowturds fans that can’t/won’t admit their team went 1-15 Aikman’s first year. Also ask those same so called fans what team they root for when the cowturds are doing poorly and they will pick some other team.

We may be able to get along
I hate Dallas’ fans too.

I don't think 9-7 is out of the question
But that’s probably the highest I would go. I’d say between 5-11 and 9-7 is the realistic target range. Of course one injury to Stafford or Megatron and we could be worse than 5-11 again.

I like your picks
1. We should beat the bears. Their O line is junk, receivers so-so. D is old, just need to contain Peppers.
2. Philly, tough game. They pass 80% of the time in this game. Even as great as our Dline will be, we cant get enough pressure. Can only hope Kolb throws ints.
3. Game we can win against Minn. Favre minus receivers. Hopefully Harvin has migraine and we can concentrate on AP and Berrian. Another game we can win.
4. GB-cant win this one, sorry!
5. Rams-if we lose this one, Everyone Will Be Pissed!
6. What kind of Giants D will be around-if its the one we seen at the end of last year, then we can really win this one.
7. I’m not with the Redskins hype. Overraged RBs, WRs average, Oline not great, D just average, at best. Another game we could easily win.
8. Jets-Is anyone really scared of their offense. Will Mark Sanchez be the goat? Can Stafford put up a last minute drive to win the game? Close one in my eyes.
9. Watch the weather, but start all Lions on your fantasy team!
10. Unlike the Jets and Washington, I dont like our chances in this one. Dallas is real balanced. F Jones and Barber. Austin, Witten, Dez Bryant, even Roy Williams tough matchups all over the field.
11. Shootout, we will be on the wrong end, but will be like an arena football game to watch.
12. Lovie will be looking for next job, Martz trying to get head coach position. Their D still sucks. We crush the Bears.
13. Sorry, get crushed again, but should score points. Will be talking about taking leap in 2011 to beat GB.
14. Start all fantasy players again. No way TB beats us!!!
15. One real interesting game. They played the young secondary last year to get experience, is it enough? Can we contain Henne to Marshall. Toss up in my eyes.
16. Shootout with Favre in his last game? Does Favre choke one last time?
IMO there are 5 games i believe we dont win. 2 GB, Patriots, Philly, and Dallas. 5 games we should win 2 Chi, Rams, Bills, Bucs. 6 really up in the air.
9 Wins
I think that might be a bit much to expect. I still say six to seven wins this year but I agree that we sweep the Bears and get one surprise game.

So is the Rams game the Toilet Bowl????
Since #1 will be getting smacked around by #2………..
How many lumps you want Doc?
Some interesting picks
But are you that sold on Kolb in Philly to think that they will whip us or just beat us. I know our road record is not to be talked about around here, but the losing has to stop at some point. As for the Cowgirls game, I know all the “experts” are picking them to win the East but that offence has struggled all pre-season at least at putting the ball into the endzone, and I don’t think you can just flick a switch and turn it on. The G-men are over rated that D has not been the same since Gap-toothed Strahan retired, and younger Manning is 1 of the most over-rated QB’s in the league. And I think Jeremy is right about the Skins, Great QB but not real good RB’s average at BEST in the WR department, and not real sold that the D is going to do much either. 10-6 Lions could/should be close to that if we can keep our O-line healthy.
How many lumps you want Doc?
No Kool-Aid here.
Week 1 @ Chicago: Win 1 – I expect us to beat the Bears but it will not be easy, especially in Soldier Field. Bears Key Notes: Forte is back on form, OL is scary bad not in a good way, secondary is weak, Urlacher is continuing to be injury prone, defense is not what it used to be.
Week 2 vs Philadelphia: Loss 1 – Kolb is the real deal, this will work out a lot like when Green Bay moved Favre. McNabb might make some hey for a couple of years, but ultimately everyone will see that the Eagles made the right choice. Eagles Key Notes: Horrible problems at offense line right now could make Kolb look bad this year if not injured. Other than that the Eagles have have a very talented, young offense. Overall thier defense is decent if not great. Home field could push us over the top but I expect a let down after the win in Chicago. Our young team is still learning how to win.
Week 3 @ Minnesota: Loss 2 – The Vikings are such a wild card now with Rice out for a good portion of the season and Harvin having serious problems too. IMO though they have some good young weapons at WR that will emerge. They are just stacked sick at running back and even if AP fumbles he is going to run all over us. Combine that with Shainco who is going to have a field day on Follett and a solid if aging defense and it don’t bode well for us. Combine all of that with the fact that Favre has kicked our ass forever and seems to have a knack for it. As much as I would like a win and we just might squeeze one out, I don’t think we are over the hump on overall talent just yet in order to beat the Vikings. Though it is more possible this year than it has been any other time in the last decade.
Week 4 @ Green Bay: Loss 3 – I seriously don’t think I even need to say anything here so I will just state a couple of things and leave ti at that. Aaron Rogers is the first NFL QB to throw for 4,000 yards in his first two years as a starter since Joe Montana. Green Bay had the number 2 defense in the league last year and their front 7 are very good. Oh and have I mentioned that Brandon Jackson looks really good for them at running back to go with all of them receivers and Finley? Oh by the way it is in Green Bay! The day we win in Green Bay is the day we can not only make the playoffs but win once we get there. Only a miracle could give us a win here in my eyes.
Week 5 vs St. Louis: Win 2 – Coming back home after playing tough games is going to not only give us an emotional lift but a win as the talent level drop off from the other teams we have been playing will make us feel like we are playing a high school team. The Rams have so many issues it is not even funny. We may not even see Bradford all game if things get out of hand. Stephen Jackson will likely eat the clock and run all over our linebackers to prevent that from happening though. He is about their only weapon on offense and IMO the only star on the Rams.
Week 6 @ New York Giants: Loss 4 – Even though the Giants will finish last in their division I still think they will be close to 8-8 when it is said and done. Though the Giants lack any dominant players at any given position they are solid across the board and you never know when one of them might emerge to have a big game. Our top players can win against their top players however once you get past some of the 1st string they beat us in a lot of areas. We could steal one here but I expect a let down after playing against an inferior team the previous week.
Week 7 vs Redskins: Win 3 – Coming off a bye week we will beat the Skins for a second time in a row! McNabb is going to be banged up by this time in the season and may not play at all, if so he wont be 100%. I will be surprised if the Skins do not get their run game on track by now however their passing game will be sub par. Chris Cooley could expose Follett some more but this just may be the game where he turns the corner and he starts to play faster mentally. The only thing that seriously scares me about this game is the fact that Fat Albert is going to be playing for revenge, blood, and a future roster spot here. I expect him to have his best game of the year against us which means Stafford will be on his back some. Then again I would not be surprised to see Shanahan make an ego move like benching him.
Week 8 vs New York Jets: Loss 5 – Sanchez is the wild card of the game. He has had more ups and downs than a roller coaster already this year, there is no telling how he will play. Too early in the year for LT to be gassed he will exploit our linebackers. Couple with that Santonio Holmes in the game with Braylon and Keller and we will have a very tough time keeping guys covered.Though Sanchez is the weak link of their offense their defense has no real weak links. Every unit looks solid for them and they likely will have Revis signed by this game. I actually hope they do so that Calvin can take his shutdown status away.
Week 9 @ Buffalo: Win 4 – The young Lions start to show some resilience and bounce back from a loss with a road win. Buffalo has an amazing stable of running backs and a solid secondary. However once you get past that we out talent them on every level pretty easily except line backer which is about a wash. Weather and wind will be a significant challenge for our passing game nullifying too many big down field plays for us to run away with this one but I still expect our offense to dink and dunk their way to victory. One caveat is that kicking could play a major role in this game.
Week 10 @ Dallas: Loss 6 – Though we will show some signs of growing there is no way I see us providing back to back wins on the road with the second coming against a very talented team. Dallas is just too much for us to handle and keeps us on the ropes if not just flat out knocking us on our collective arses.
Week 11 vs New England: Loss 7 – This will be a gut wrenching loss on a national stage once again. I don’t even think it will be close. Brady, Moss, and Welker will be in full stride as the additions of Gronkowski and Hernandez are just far far too much for our weak secondary to handle. On top of that the Patriots will throw some wrinkles at Stafford that he has not seen yet and this will be valuable learning lesson for him, even if it is a painful one. Bodden will have a big game against us as all of the former Lions always do.
Week 12 vs Chicago: Win 5 – Sweeping the Bears and putting them firmly in the cellar of our division will take a lot of the sting out of the previous weeks loss for us and give us some much needed confidence heading into the final stage of the season.
Week 13 vs Green Bay: Loss 8 – Once again victory is followed by humility for our Lions. We are reminded of our shortcomings in this game and it will be the footprint of our needs heading into next years draft. This game will push us towards grabbing a true shut down corner early in the draft as we are once again dissected, flayed, and diced for all the world to see on our defensive back end.
Week 14 @ Tampa Bay: Win 6 – Not much to say here, we out talent the Buccaneers on almost every level. Suh will emerge in this game and get multiple sacs and possibly even an interception. This game will showcase why he is legend and McCoy is mere mortal.
Week 15 @ Miami: Loss 9 – The wildcat will prove to be the king of cats as the mighty Lions are humbled. We are served up some humble pie by a team in the playoff hunt playing a bit above their level while we still try to learn how to win back to back games. Though the Fins will ultimately fall short of the playoffs this year they will finally have a passing game to go with their solid running attack.
Week 16 vs Minnesota: Loss 10 – Favre will either be retired or injured or both by this time of the year. The Vikings see the silver lining of losing Favre when Jackson runs all over our line backers giving us our second footprint for the upcoming draft. This is the game that will start all of the fanfare and trumpeting for us to pick up Greg Jones even though we need an OLB not a MLB. This one will be close, but I suspect that the fact the Vikings will be fighting and clawing tooth and nail for that wild card spot and we will be looking ahead to the off season to seal the deal.
All in all not bad 6-10. We will see some road wins and the Lions could win a couple more than what I am thinking they will. Even 8-8 will not get us to the playoffs though and I just don’t drink enough Kool-Aid to see us finishing with more wins than that. I certainly hope with all my heart I am proven wrong. Our top 3 needs going into the draft will be CB, LB, OL and we may even draft a WR and another RB somewhere in the mid round. This will be the first off season in a LONG time that the Lions will have more draft picks than need to find starters in the draft.
Seems alright to me...

This is the first prediction I agree with
Our team still needs some real work done to it, with tweaks almost everywhere else. Our CB’s need upgraded if we want to compete with anyone’s passing game. Our offense could keep us in almost every game we play, but can’t win them all. I think us fans tend to think that because we had a great draft and our 2nd year players are developing well that we are going to win 10-12 games. Remember, we just came off of a 2 win season. 4 wins would double our total for the last 2 years. I am hopeful as much as the next Lions fan, but 6 wins this season would be great. I wouldn’t have to drink so much on sundays if that happened….
I had an ant farm once, but them fellas didn't grow shit
What no surprise wins??? no fun!!
I know winning 6 games is a major improvment but were 0-0 right now
Hell the Rams even looked good against NE
The Patriots have an amazing offense though. It looked like Brady could go to Moss and Gronkowski at will.
That's an understatement.
They only scored 59 and were all over Peyton.

Manning is throwing pick six's like they are candy on Holloween.
He actually looks like he is going to have an off year. Brady on the other hand looks like he will be 2nd to Rogers this year in the fantasy leagues. And Sam Bradford actually looks good. I have to say he looks more gifted than Staff but he don’t have near the intangibles or toughness that Staff does IMO.
Did you see Bradford's first two games where he looked pretty pedestrian?
NE was playing soft D all night. He played impressively, but I think you might be giving him too much credit. The back-up guy for the Rams also played incredibly well. No doubt Bradford is gifted, but I wouldn’t give him anything on Staff just yet.

True, Mainly I was just talking about his ability to dump off the the 2nd and 3rd read
But then that is a bit unfair to Stafford, since he had no 2nd and 3rd read last year, because no one was ever open ;)
Hell
more often than not last season, He didn’t have a first read that was open either with CJ drawing 2-3 defenders every time he was on the field.
Lions fans deserve better than being the laughing stock of the NFL. Lets all hope they are heading in the right direction finally.
yea
The colts played there starters after the half and Addai has a cuncussion…thats was idiocy on caldwells part.
