Where does Stafford rank? (Right Now)
1. Drew Brees - I'f im starting a team I want Drew. Shoot me.
2. Peyton
3. Brady
4. Aaron Rogers.
5. Rothliesberger - I love how he extends the play. And he has the IT factor. He just knows how to win.
6. Donovan Mcnabb
7. Phillip Rivers
8. Tony Romo
9. Matt Ryan
10. Joe Flacco
11. Mark Sanchez - say what? Sanchez's ability to manage the game and make good decision trumps Staffords talent.
12. Matt Stafford - My my my...I was surprised when I made this list. even with me not being a Stafford fan, I'd have to admit one could argue we have a top 10 QB in the league. In terms of talent, this guy is top 5 in the league. He just has to improve his decision making and knowing when to gun it vs. when to lay off. You have to throw a catchable ball.
13. Jay Cutler - Stafford is better than Cutler. Take that to the bank. Cutler will put up big numbers this year (because of Martz system) but he will also get sacked 50 times this year (Because of Martz system).
14. Carson Palmer
15. Matt Schaub
16. Brett Favre - his best days are behind him.
17. Sam Bradford
18. Vince Young
19. Kyle Orton
20. Jason Campbell - I'm higher on Campbell than most. Hopefully he proves me right.

From watching Hard Knocks
I have Stafford a million miles ahead of Sanchez.

I'll give you one thing. Sanchez does make good decisions
when he hands the ball off to his RBs.

Exactly!
The coaching staff knows he’s not a great passer. It’s easy to manage a game when you’re handing off. The Jets made it as far as they did last year due to D, and the rest of the ensemble. Not because of Sanchez.
Expectations don't produce!

Debateable.
That’s a valid point. Again what does he do in the clutch? What has he won?
That’s why he’s low in my book. You could say the same thing about Stafford though. But stafford obviously has more talent.

Schaub is still better than Staff
at least at this point, but Schaub has been in the league longer and had a lot more talent around him than Staff had.
How many lumps you want Doc?
Whats important?
A lot of ratings go into the guy’s talent. And that is important. But what good is a guys arm if he’s throwing ints in at key points in the game. I want to win. And a QB with a hot shot arm whose going to make the wrong decision and end up losing the game. Many players have said, if its about talent and how he looks in shorts – Tom Brady would never be picked. But yet when the game is on the line, who would you rather have?
So if were going to judge on talent alone, this is a different list. But as far as the whole package…this is my list.

Do your homework.
I think you forgot Eli Manning and Hasselback out of your top 20.
Amongst all the nfl starters Stafford looks inside the top 12. He still has a lot to prove.
lol
Are you serious?? If the Giants could trade Eli straight up for Stafford right now they’d do it. Eli is a joke. Hasselback used to be good. This is a NOW list.

Sanchez is horrible
The coaches have complained about his lack of leadership and the will and grit. He’s okay on a team with a great defense and a great, let’s just say great everything around him. Put him on the Lions, and have him pass as much as stafford did, he would of had 40 interceptions.
Their 09 stats were very similar and Sanchez had a top 5 RB and a top 5 Defense. I don’t understand how Sanchez could be anywhere near top 10. He’s poopy. The only package he has, is of hotdogs.
SUPER BOWL!!
I’d hate to see us get Sanchez. Another Harrington?!?! Makes me puke to think about.

I am going to rate them based on my personal opinion here and I have not seen a lot of these guys enough to give a good evaluation so... this is just who I like, not necessarily who is better or going to have a better season.
1. Aaron Rogers
2. Matt Stafford
3. Matt Ryan
4. Chad Henne
5. Donovan McNabb
If I won the super duper hey your a billionaire lotto and I could afford to buy an NFL franchise first I would try to buy Green Bay because they have Aaron Rogers. Of course course I would have to move the team to Las Vegas and change their name to the Vegas Cougars. We would have Black, White, and Red Uniforms and our helmet logo would be a take off from the Lions, some sort of resemblance of a prowling cougar. The main color in the Unis would be black and white accented by a silver and red cougar. The best part would be all of the 30 something milf cheerleaders. They would always wear short shorts or if they had a miniskirt on they would be required to wear thongs underneath, no hose allowed! Barring that happening I would just find a way to get the senile Ford Sr. to sell me the Lions. Just for all you guys that wanted cheerleaders I would have to make a nice PR move and keep the fan base happy!
But in all honesty the only young QB I would want over Stafford is Rogers. As much as I respect the Brady, Manning and Brees, they are older, and if not on the decline now they are certainly a shorter shelf life than Rogers or Stafford. You may notice that the only older QB on my list is McNabb. I just have a ton of respect for Donovan and I think he totally got dissed by Philly. I would love to see him win a super bowl and I would keep him as a 2nd or 3rd string QB until he was freaking 50 years old if that is what it took to get him a Super Bowl ring.
Stafford is better than Sanchez
No bias, no anything…he’s just better. And it will show over the years.
USE THE SCHWARTZ!!!
YOU ARE AN INSANE PERSON
if you think sanchez is that good.
Good decision making?
He had a color coded arm band because he couldnt stop messing up his reads and throwing the ball away.
In fact there isnt a quarterback on this list that I wouldnt put in front of sanchez.

I like the list
I think Favre is too low, and I think Sanchez over Staff is questionable, but otherwise a great list with a couple of good insights.

Mark Sanchez
Definitely needs to be a lot lower on that list, their is no way he is even close to being a top ten quarterback in the league.

Not a good list
No way in hell Roethlisberger is the fifth best QB in the league, no way in hell Sanchez should even be on this list, and as others have said, Schaub should be higher, Palmer should be higher, and where the fuck is Eli Manning? Sorry man, but it’s just a bad list.
hmmmmm.. interesting ratings system u guys have here.
E. Manning 62% 4021 yrds 27tds 13int. 1 SB mvp.
J. Flacco 63% 3613 yrds 21tds 12int
D McNabb 60% 3553 yrds 22tds 10int
K Orton 62% 3802 yrds 21tds 12int
M Ryan 58% 2916yrds 22tds 14int
J Palmer 60% 3094yrds 21tds 13int
M Sanchez 53% 2444yrds 12tds 20int
J Cutler 60% 3666yrds 27tds 26int
C Henne 60% 2878yrds 12tds 14int
not sure what u base your ratings on but not any of these guys are better then the “other” Manning..
+1 on this.
don’t get the Eli hate really. Or the Flacco hate. Or Favre at 14 on some of these?
Personally, I’m not high on Matt Ryan.

Draft Day antics
for Eli. After that, I’m not sure what there is to like about him… His stats are sometimes above average. Kurt Warner was better, and he got the boot because of it.
stats
the stats are useful to an extent, but you have to consider their qualities of play that go way beyond stats. you can see how these guys see the field. you can see how these guys can fit the ball into places a needs to be. you can see it in how these guys take what is given and know when to burn one or take a sack. throwing picks at the end of a half when you are down shouldn’t count against you. balls bouncing off your receivers hands shouldn’t count against you.
IMO neither Eli or Flacco have top 10 characteristics. stats are great but they just aren’t as good as their numbers reflect. Both Flacco and Manning clearly benefit from their surroundings and situations. both play(ed) on superbowl talented teams. Favre is downright careless with the ball and has basically lost the critical games on his last 3 teams (INT on Packers vs. Giants, INTs galore for the Jets, INT Vikes vs Saints). In these situations, he has become bad because he doesn’t see the field like he used to.
yes, thats why i also base on more then just stats, hence the MVP acknowledgment
could anybody name more then 1 WR on the Giants before this year ? most would say no.. also factor trying to throw an accurate ball in the winds of the meadow-lands 8 games a year. i could also go as far as sayin how many QB’S have to go against the great D’s of the NFC EAST every year.
funny how we over at BBV have Eli pegged at #10. i like Stafford he has heart and had little to work with and still put up better #s then “Sanchize” and all his weapons. that said he has alot to prove.. not yet top 20.
No.
Dude I am not a Stafford fan. But to suggest that there are 20 Qbs better than Stafford. No way. You took one season and you’re basing your whole rating on that? Eli has heart. And he is part of the greatest play in sb history imo. But his talent has always been questioned. He more than Sanchez is a product of his environment. But everytime the Giant had to rely on Eli to win, they lost…except that one time.

sorry, Stafford has not done jack shit yet
He has won 2 regular season games out of 16. I love his potential and start this preseason but that does not instantly make him a top 20 QB in the league. He has a ton to prove. I have no doubt of his skill or ability to do it but putting him in the top 20 with what he has done, ridiculous.
And yes, I ahve been a lions far for over 30 years.
Lions fans deserve better than being the laughing stock of the NFL. Lets all hope they are heading in the right direction finally.
well played and correct
That does not change the reality. He has not done anything to be considered in the top 20 of the league.
This preseason shows a ton of promise and hope. I want to see it during and over a who regular season before I start judging him better than other players that have won.
Lions fans deserve better than being the laughing stock of the NFL. Lets all hope they are heading in the right direction finally.

He has that “IT Factor” every great QB needs.

Anybodys talent is called in question when you play in NY
if i havent convinced you by now im never going to . so lets agree to disagree.. check what the NY papers are sayin about the so called “sanchize” now. its not good.
Mannings 2008 stats. 60.3% 3238yrd 21 tds 10 int ..
ummm, because the Giants have always been ground and pound..
last year they couldnt run for shit so they let him chuck it ..
Well he is going to have a good receiving core and line this year so no excuses for sure.
I have to say that for a long time I have felt that Eli is the more physically gifted of the Mannings. Archie was the legs, Peyton is the Brains, but Eli has the arm. If he ever got the brains of big bro he would be a hall of fame player.
Ndamukong Suh - Bringing 70's football back to Motown!
Sanchez is a B****!!!
He might just be the worst starting QB in this league. If it wasn’t for his amazing o-line, running game, and defense, he would be a bigger flop than Joey Harrington.
I was watching NFL Network and they did a piece on SnatchEZ
Basically they said he was the weakest link on the Jets. How the hell can he be up there on that list if he is the weakest link on that team? I mean basically they are saying his “not it” factor is what is holding up the Jets from winning it all. Sorry but you cannot measure a QB by stat lines. Put Stafford on that team and they are playing the Saints not Indy. Put Stafford on that team this year and they are favorites to win it all. Stafford is better hands down, you know it, I know it, we all know it, just admit it.
I'll admit he's better than Sanchez
But I don’t think that is saying much, but ther about 20 other Qb’s that maybe better. I think he has great potential but he has shown nothing yet. You’ll have a good idea after this season.
Hey OGV
First off I totally understand the love with Brees, he’s just the shit hands down. But you said if you were to start a team today you would take Brees first? Again I inderstand the love affair with him because he is that good but he is already 31 and a guy like ROGERS is only 26 heading into this season. 5 years is a lifetime in this league, and I am just questioning you taking a guy that will at best be at the top of his game for 5 more years when you have a guy like Rogers who is going to be around for over 10 years pending injuries ofcourse.
