NFL Roster Cuts 2010: Lions Waive 4 Players
By 4 p.m. tomorrow, all NFL teams will have to cut down their roster to a maximum of 75 players. As a result, there will be quite a few cuts made in the next 24 hours, and the Lions actually already have started to trim down their roster. John Niyo reports that the following four players were waived today by the team:
- FB Jake Nordin (waived/injured)
- WR Eric Fowler
- DE Chima Ihekwoaba
- LB Lee Campbell
It has also been confirmed that Rocky Boiman has signed with the Lions, so that means that two more players will need to be let go by tomorrow afternoon in order to get the roster down to 75 players.

I thought Fowler played well enough for the team
I don’t think I am alone in that feeling.
I guess they thought he was not as good as Northcut
Why does everyone assume Northcutt has a spot on the team?

We may trade him
Why cut him so early ? .. he is not among the worst 5 … and if he doesn’t make the 53, they can try to get a conditional 6th or 7th for him … and if not ..THEN release him …
I can't really picture
anyone giving us anything for him, particularly since it seems likely that we’re gonna release him anyways.
MAN I wish we had Gerald Alexander right now. Probably the only bad move Mayhew has made so far.
Yes Northcutt needs to go we can use Paul Pratt to return punts
He will make our opponents special team players look like they’re playing in quicksand as he blazes down the field into the endzone.
This post sponsored by the Paul Pratt for starter foundation.
Wayne,
I always look forward to your opinions, but the Paul Pratt sarcasm jokes are getting old. You’ve got better material than Pratt.

Seriously
Dude Richard Dickson’s agent wasn’t hyping him up as much as you are Pratt.

Its not like promoting Eric King for a starter.
and if Pratt gets cut I expect to really hear about it from all you non-believers. Seriously though his closing speed has really impressed me.

I am with you Wayne
I like Pratt. I like him more than King.

With all due respect...and I've been watching closely
After having Pratt,Pratt,Pratt pounding into my sub conscience…..What exactly has he done?
Did he get a tackle somewhere?
I still have it a DVR..Where should I look for all of this "flying around"?
I swear I haven’t heard his name mentioned…honest
eric king
were did he come from anyway..pretty sure we hired him from a hot dog vender at ford field the guys a bum…how did he not get cut today. Pratt has done fairly well I think he isn’t the worst corner we have atleast.

LoL former role player on Tenessee Titans
If ever Schwarz could be accused of Marrinelli-ism King would make the case for it.
His closing speed
may be fine, it is just his opening speed that has me worried.

Disgusting cuts
I’m going to puke mouth just a little in D Will makes this team. And yes I realize his draft position and all of that stuff.
my friend says he thought he saw d will packing his stuff this weekend
he lives in the same building as d will in royal oak
i’ve been waiting to hear about him getting cut, but maybe it’s for other reasons

I could only hope...lol
You know, it really is too early to give up on a 3rd rounder, but without trying to be a chump, I just have not even seen even the basics out of the guy.
Come on now, everything is a challenge for him. All i ever seen was Fowler scooping everything up thrown in his direction and getting seperation…But, what do I know.
your name is delusional...
just thought that was funny but ya i totally agree, fowler was playing very well and the move is more than confusing. But like others might say “In Mayhew I believe!!!”

interesting cuts.
are we going to have a fullback on the roster at all?
with all the talk about felton being our power back, and hearing nordin was going to be more of a blocking fullback.

Derrick Williams will be fine
Vincent Jackson’s rookie year: 8 games played, 3 catches for 59 yards.
Jerricho Cotchery’s rookie year: 12 games played, 6 catches for 60 yards
Kevin Walter’s rookie year: 11 games played, 3 catches for 18 yards.
Brandon Marshall’s rookie year: 15 games played, 20 catches for 309 yards
Santana Moss’ rookie year: 5 games played, 2 catches for 40 yards
Hines Ward’s rookie year: 16 games played, 15 catches for 246 yards
Wes Welker’s rookie year: 1 game played, 0 catches for 0 yards
Derrick Williams’ rookie year: 10 games played, 6 catches for 52 yards
Wide receivers typically do not produce in their rookie year. Everybody just needs to chill out about Derrick Williams

Yeah I am bummed they cut Fowler but in my eyes it is Toone they are keeping over him not Northcut
We all know that Calvin, Nate, and Bryant are locks. I think with Fowler getting cut we can safely say Derrick Williams is our 4th guy. That leaves Toone and Northcut battling for that 5th spot. They have a pretty identical game and I think Toone has already shown enough to win that battle on his upside alone. Also he comes a lot cheaper than Northcut does. I can live with that roster and them keeping Toone over Fowler. Probably it was the fact that he can be a punt returner that got him the spot over Fowler.
I would not be surprised at all to see Minnesota pick up Fowler. I would if I was them.
I think Ihekowoaba is a lock for the Practice squad and probably the other two guys too if they are eligible.
I think Toone will be a practice squad player
Perhaps Brian Clark will get the nod for his special teams ability

I can't wait any longer! Who is the next cuts!
Suspense is killing me. Anything to get my mind off school. School Boooo. LOL
Cuts
I would have kept Fowler, he looked good when he played in the pre-season. It will be interesting to see who all makes the final roster at the wide receiver position because I would have cut Northcutt instead.
