This team is easily better than 4-12!
Hi, I'm new to POD and I wanted to post something I totally disagree with. Peter King of SI states in his recent article that the Lions, despite the upgrades on offense, that the defense is in too bad a shape to get out of the cellar in the Nfc North. He thinks 4-12 might be the best they can do. That's a load of crap! If Stafford never got hurt last year, the Lions could've won 4 games and last year's schedule was even harder than this year's. The Lions offense is the best I've seen since...it's hard to remember when the last time I thought the offense was this good. Granted, it's only preseason and they looked good alot of times in preseason and tanked in the regular season, but I feel that we have a legit playmakers on offense this time around with Stafford, Best, CJ, Burleson, Scheffler, Pettigrew, and even BJ as a legit #3 reciever if he doesn't drop the ball. The defense will also be better because of the defensive line appearing so dominant, it's only preseason and they looked dominant under Marinelli too, but there were no household names on those defensive lines like there are on this line. I've been a fan since I was 6 years old when I watched Barry break ankles in the Silverdome on Thanksgiving Day and haven't seen as many playmakers on this team since 1995, when they had the tri-fecta at reciever in Moore, Perriman, and Morton with Barry and one year wonder QB Scott Mitchell. I believe this team has more talent on offense than that team even, of course Best is no Barry and never will be, but he has the potential to be the best since #20 and Calvin Johnson could be the best reciever we have EVER had now that he has an actual NFL QB throwing to him. Stafford is good enough to take this team to the playoffs, if not this year then definitely next year when they get some better defensive players. This team is loaded on the defensive line though, and the offense looks really promising with a young QB that could end up being the best since Bobby Layne last took us to the promised land in 1957, to say 4-12 when they could've done that last year is way off base.
I say at least 7 wins if not more if the division is weaker than expected and the LIons defense is better than expected. What do you guys think?
