Five Lions Starters Miss Practice
No Delmas, Peterman, Burleson, Stafford or Follett at practice. Dylan Gandy taking reps at RG. Levy looks good, working with 1st D
Louis Delmas missed a practice last week, so I'm not all that concerned about his status. Then again, he was limping quite a bit at times on Sunday and even had to leave the game every so often, so it's not a guarantee that he will be good to go this week.
Stephen Peterman and Zack Follett both suffered injuries on Sunday. Peterman got his leg or ankle rolled on and was shaken up, and Follett made a big hit and looked a bit woozy. It's unclear just how serious their injuries are, though.
The other two players absent, Nate Burleson and Matthew Stafford, come as no surprise given the previous news about them.

I had the same idea, he kept going but looked dazed after that play.
I don’t want add player does not have blue collar mentality,
even if he is great player. Piston should not quit your job. - OK from J
Delmas is gonna need surgery...
if we keep playing him. This is ridiculous. You shouldn’t play with nagging groin injuries.
Odd, back when I played in H. S. in 91, the trainer told our guys that if you could take the pain that playing through a groin would do no further damage
Ndamukong Suh - Bringing 50's football back to Motown!
That's entirely not true...
Groin injuries need rest. Like what we did with Levy. That was smart, let him rest and heal.
I would hold Delmas out if it were my choice.

I was just doing some reading on web MD
Yeah I bet they are being very cautious, I certainly hope it does not turn into a sports hernia. But I remember some Red Wings playing with them, which is more severe than a groin pull. So it still seems to me that if he can tolerate the pain, it can be taken care of in the off season. Pretty much the only treatment is rest, which is why he is not seeing practice time.

Not Peterman
For the love of everything pure and beautiful. Not Peterman.
Lions fans deserve better than being the laughing stock of the NFL. Lets all hope they are heading in the right direction finally.

Hopefully Peterman and Delmas will be on the field Sunday.
I thought Peterman finished the game after he was banged up. Might just be getting and extra day or two off to heal up.
I expect to see this out of Delmas for the entire season. At least it will give Phillips and Speivey a chance for some reps with the #1s and a few times during the games too.
Nice to have Levy back. I hope it is for good.
Louis Delmas
I really hope he can make it the whole season like this. He’s one tough guy to not be able to practice all week then limp during the games but still have some of the hits he has.

Geeez!
You know i hate to say it, but let’s just put Delmas on the IR for the year!
At least that way we will have him healthy for sure (hopefully) next year!
This week to week stuff is killing me, and i am sure its not good for him either.
I think if we get to a point where we have lost 8 games or so, and have no shot at the playoffs you will see things change
Typically that is the time when coaches IR all the borderline guys and start playing the rookies, getting them experience when the only thing that they can do is increase their draft position. Eventually teams will actually desire top 5 picks, when there is a rookie cap.
Ndamukong Suh - Bringing 50's football back to Motown!
the rookie cap will be instituted the very moment the Lions are no longer picking in the top 5
It is just the way the League bends the lions over. No dinner, no drinks, no movie… Just right to business without even a kiss goodnight when all is said and done.
This means one of two things, the lions are going to win enough games this year to be out of the top 5 in the draft or the new CBA will include a clause that states the rookie salary cap can only begin in a year when the lions are not a top 5 pick.
