For those that know me, I'm not much for words... so here we go....
This game is a reset game for the Minnesota Vikings.... plain and simple. I expect the game plan will be a heavy dose of AP and Gerhardt.... all day long(pun intended). Favre will finish the game with less than 20 attempts and less than 250yds passing.
That being said, its obvious what the Lions need to do to win... throw the Vikings off their game plan, flip it if you will... and let the fun begin.
For the Last 2 years(4 games) against the Vikings, the Lions have relatively shut down or slowed AP to respectible levels and forced Favre or even(shudder) TJack to win the game.... problem is, they were successful in doing so.(for obvious reasons.)
I have singled out 2 main reasons for losing... Halftime adjustments combined with lack of pass rush.
Lets break it down...and look at the last 2 games....
(Thanks Turbo!)
You know what? Fuck that. Even though Turbo makes me want to do it... there is NOTHING the same about last year's Viking's game to this year's Vikings' game. Like KVB said, this team is ready and has the talent to win now.
So I'll just repeat the 2 main keys to the game...
***the Lions are able to Adjust their half time game plan successfully this week. 2 weeks in a row our 3rd Quarters have been vile.
***The Linebackers are able to fill their gaps and contain AP (Time for Peterson to step up... his benching last week was also vile)
I have no doubt that the Dline will be able to get to Favre, but like I said, I expect Childress to limit his attempts, play field position and count on the running game to end it quick. THis game will be won by the back 7 on D.
On a side note.... I think it would be fun to see a 5-2 Defense.... Forcing the Vikings to throw, almost daring them.
Flame on, Discuss, whatever...
Later,
CLF
