Preseason is nothing more than glorified practice

After reading Brian VanOchten of Mlive.com's article regarding the supposed "true" colors of this team, I was inclined to write an article myself regarding the situation.

Ok, I too wasn't that happy after watching Stafford throw a pick-6 to CB Drayton Florence, however, if you look at the body of work that the Lions offense put in after 4 preseason games, you will see that it's not as bad as it may seem. Not to mention, alot of teams are better in the 2nd half when it really counts so we don't know after 4 preseason games how good Stafford or the rest of the team really is. Peyton Manning and the Colts got absolutely slaughtered by the Packers a couple weeks ago with Manning throwing 2 picks, do you think the Colts faithful are throwing in the towel? Do you think they have people like Brian VanOchten writing articles like we see the true colors of the Colts now? Of course not, granted it's the Lions he was writing about, but it's not the same ol' Lions despite a couple poor exhibition performances. This team really has some serious offensive firepower, enough to put the smack down on quite a few teams on the schedule this year. If the defense is at least average, we can win some ball games. I guess I'm just sick of hearing all of the negativity regarding this team recently after this PRESEASON game that I'm getting crabby. I know the Lions history and what have you but I also know that the people in charge now have a pretty darn good idea of how to run a team based on the moves being made and the way business is conducted as opposed to previous regimes. Once things get rolling this season, preseason results will be forgotten.

Chicago is next on the schedule and this is when people like Drew Shar of The Free Press or BVO should really start evaluating the team because it actually counts. Even if the Lions win or lose, it should also be noted that it's only the first game of the season and things could change as the season progresses. The 2007 New York Giants started 0-2 in the regular season and ended up beating the undefeated Patriots in the Superbowl,a team who would've been considered the best team ever if they actually won.

In other words, DON"T JUDGE A BOOK BY IT"S COVER OR THE FIRST CHAPTER!!! GO LIONS!!
