They Cut Him??? (Central page for pertinent cuts around the NFL)
I know we're all interested in whose being cut where...Thought it would be cool if we had one page for the cut players Pod'ers would like to see us go after (or at least entertain). Already got some juicy stuff...
Justin Hartwig being shopped by the Steelers - say what?? Pouncey unseats the Steeler staple.
Damione Lewis DT - cut by the Patriots
Patrick Crayton WR - expected to be released by the Cowboys today. This has been talked about. I'd take crayton in a heartbeat. His salary is not ridiculous. And we are not as deep at wr as most people think. If anything happens to Calvin or Nate, we are screwed. Crayton would provide depth.
Post your cuts as you hear about them...

I propose a Guideline:
You must link a source for all Cuts, and Trade Rumors.
If you wanna say “Hey let’s look at this guy” that’s fine.
But if you say, “Team A, just cut Player X” or, “Team Z is Shopping Player Q”. I wanna know where you read it. Fair Enough?
good idea...

Remember, he was playing for Pad-level Moronelli.
He could honestly be the greatest player of all time and he would look shitty in his pathetic excuse of a defense. Also, he would still get cut (even if he were Ed Reed) by Moronelli because he doesn’t like him and wants to pley some 30 year veteran who sucks and will never be good. Just like he did here.

It would help a lot if he actually was willing to use his brain too, most players can’t get by on talent alone.

Ndamukong Suh - Bringing 60's football back to Motown!
An interesting read on mlive sheds some light into the pick we got for Polumbus and what moves may lie ahead for us.
That’s why the Seahawks thought it was worth dealing a conditional seventh-round pick (in 2011) to acquire him.
Ndamukong Suh - Bringing 60's football back to Motown!
Oops....Killer is wrong..
It’s a 2012 pick.

Man
not one cornerback worth picking up, and maybe one safety thats worth it…not good news for the Lions. There does seem to be some decent interior o-line tho
The beginning of the end of the misery
I was just thinking the same thing.
Teams are holding their better yet cuttable CB’s hoping for a trade….A lot teams still need to do a lot of whacking.
by delusional on Sep 4, 2010 12:53 AM EDT via mobile up reply actions
not trades
just tells you we’re not the only team thats thin at that position. I think majority of NFL teams lack depth at CB
The beginning of the end of the misery
I agree latif, very few teams have depth at corner.
Maybe the Jets and Raiders, maybe Cincy. I cant think of any others.
Ndamukong Suh - Bringing 60's football back to Motown!
Pats have good depth
Not great starters, but depth is really good. I wish the Lions could pick up one of their young backups
The beginning of the end of the misery
Losing Bodden made that dpeth starters though. McCourty (though he looks good) is going to start for them this year.
Ndamukong Suh - Bringing 60's football back to Motown!
ya, but
McCourtey, Wilhite, Darius Butler are still a pretty solid core
The beginning of the end of the misery
Doesn't beat Joseph, Hall, and Jones
Ghee is a raw Joseph from what many state and many here wanted Trent alone, probably the worst CB on the roster. If they’re not the top in depth, they’re close.
Cool thread
Special mention to Jazzy…you were on fire.
RIP Robyn Bailey 1961 - 2010. I love you mum.

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2010/09/04/SP1H1F8L4F.DTL
This article talks up Bruce Davis at LB but he ran a 4.78 when he was drafted in 2008, I doubt he is any faster now. Probably not the kind of LB we are looking for.
Ndamukong Suh - Bringing 60's football back to Motown!
Ya Know
I was wondering, why SB Nation does not have a main transactions list? You know basically each mod for each team (Sean for us) could just update their particular team. But would give us a nice place to go to for a master list, that would probably be more current than any other news source out there. Just a thought.
Ndamukong Suh - Bringing 60's football back to Motown!
Yup .. agree
Would be nice .. easy … and well maintained ..
So .. on the home page Lions
Jaron Baston
jon Jansen
Tim Toone
Caleb Campbell
here is one
Adam Schefter reports Redskins to release Willie Parker
"I’d probably get arrested because football’s my only time I get to go out there and hit people as hard as I can, and it’s legal," Follett said. "I need that once a year."
Is it just me...
or does it seem like we are waiting for everyone to make cuts before we trim our roster down.
good point
maybe there is some benefit to making some final decisions based on availability of players cut from other squads. if a capable punt returner shows up, maybe cut Northcutt.
for the 100th time
Northcut gets $1.5 mil guaranteed thie year. We aren’t cutting him.
Kong of the Jungle----Best of the Beasts!!
two interesting cuts
Cody Brown 6’3 244lb OLB – Ari A second pick two season ago. Had some injury problems this season. Never really did anything there. But at 23. Might be worth a waiver pick up.
Kirk Urbik – OG Pitt A third pick last season. I cant imagine that he would be worst than Man-Ram.
if the shoe fits...get another one just like it - George Carlin
that should read....Cody Brown was a 2nd rd pick two seasons ago

Packers cut OL Allen Barbre
Got an injury settlement with him. He was a starter last year at LT but was terrible before he was benched for Mark Tauscher.

Is he eligible to play in college as an 8th year senior?

Corners available...
These are just names but…
Tye Hill released from Titans
Brandon Mcdonals released from Browns
Both guys were starters last year. Tye Hill was decent. If he’s close to what he used to be that’s sommeone to look at.
There are deals to be made.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/09/04/broncos-send-alphonso-smith-to-detroit-for-dan-gronkowski/
Here's the irony with this...
We had Parrish Cox in for a pre-draft visit. Then we passed on him in the 3rd and 4th and he was drafted in the 5th.
Cox goes in as a low paid 5th rounder and badly beats out Smith for the starting job. SO, now we trade a really good player to get the guy that got beat out by the guy we could have had.
I hope smith plays really well for us though.
Kong of the Jungle----Best of the Beasts!!
I just don't get it
A lot of people passed on him too … and everyone passes on a lot of people .. It’s good to be a monday morning quarterback … isn’t it ?
32 teams passed on Tom Brady .. like 6 times ? And Jamarcus Russel was a #1 pick …
All we should see is what the lions did with the cards they were dealt .. and we have had among the best drafts in the league .. 2 years in a row ..
Not to mention we got Scheff from Denver and a pick for Earnie sims .. and we are giving him our 3rd string TE plus a late pick (conditional) for a CB who mgiht be coachable by Gun… a 2nd round pick …
Gunny is a beast
If anyone can light a fire under his bum, it is him.
You can see it now, he gets beat one time and Gunner will be there on the side line waiting to chew him a new bung hole.
Lions fans deserve better than being the laughing stock of the NFL. Lets all hope they are heading in the right direction finally.
yeah, the screaming always helps a guy who lacks confidence already
Kong of the Jungle----Best of the Beasts!!
lmao
These are grown men and I am tired of chicken shi…. millionaire players with no spine. If he can’t take a little chewing when he makes a mistake too bad. Stand tall and grow a pair.
This is not our mothers Lions team anymore. We need real men.
