We got a 2009 2nd round CB for a 2009 7th round TE!!!
Mayhew "mayhewed" another potential steal with this move.
Alphonso Smith, a 2009 2nd round pick out of Wake Forest was acquired from Denver for 2009 7th rounder TE Dan Gronkowski recently. This was an excellent move because we were going to release Gronk anyways and Alphonso Smith has a very high ceiling despite not working out in Denver. Thing is, most cornerbacks in the NFL require at least 2-3 years to get comfortable so I'm very surprised that they would give up so quickly on this kid. We got Tony Scheffler and Alphonso Smith for Dan Gronkowski and a 3rd rounder this season from Denver? Mayhew is looking brilliant with every move he makes.

Lions secondary ..getting better
Mayhew has been almost to good to be true.Seems like he gets the best of every trade. He has actually turned a 0-16 team with VERY LITTLE talent.Into a pretty good team, with loads of talent all over the place. In just 2 yrs.
With some depth ,this Lions team will be a playoff team soon.
Lions Super Bowl 2012
Your right
this is a good pick and reason to be excited about our FO moves.
was just reading some of the comments on PFT. . .
Denver fans are pissed. . .Smith wasn’t just a 2nd round pick, they traded the 14th overall pick in 2010 to get him in 2009. . .They are also pissed because they could have kept Scheffler and then Gronkowski wouldn’t even be needed. . .nice move Mayhew
