Tony Ugoh anyone?
Colts release former second round pick Tony Ugoh. According to sources, Ugoh just didn't play very well in the preseason.
When camp opened this summer, the Colts had hoped Ugoh would win the starting job at left guard.
He barely got a chance. Johnson sprained his right foot the first week of training camp, forcing the Colts to put Ugoh back in his old spot. Ugoh spent the rest of the preseason at left tackle.
When Johnson returned to practice Wednesday, the first time he’d worked out with his teammates since Aug. 6, the Colts wasted little time in parting ways with the 6-foot-5, 301-pound Arkansas Alum.
Here is the link for the article. Link. Backus is our guy but maybe Ugoh could be a project? Who knows? All I know is I WANT THE SEASON TO START TODAY!!!

Def better than manny
but ugoh is hurt right now..undisclosed ankle injury.
I had a dream were the Lions let me sign a 1 day contract they let me practice with them running drills and catching passes from Matt…At the end of the day I was called into Mayhews office. I was told I had just been traded to seattle for a 5th round draft pick.
I heard he had some sort of foot injury, I will do some digging

Oh here is the meat of the article.
The offensive lineman the Colts once projected as their left tackle of the future was placed on the waived-injured list after missing practice with an undisclosed foot injury. To take his spot, the Colts claimed another offensive lineman, Joe Reitz, off waivers from Miami.

If we think he is a viable LT and worth rehabbing then yeah, but the problem is we would have to put him on the roster
Then again we could just IR him for the whole year. I wonder why the Colts didn’t do that?
On a side note, I don’t usually see guys that the Colts dump doing well afterward.

To be fair
Edge was getting older and slower. He has a very good post-season 2 years ago looked almost like the Edge of old I think it burned him out. Colts did give James a superbowl ring thanking him for his contributions thats some serious class. Same with Cato June was getting older and slower he had some above average seasons after he left. The don’t “Dump” to many players. Domonic Rhodes is the only one that comes to mind that really dropped like a rock.

vandershank
Sucked and was a complete A-hole that’s why they cut him. Questioning peytons leadership. He didn’t fall off he was already at the bottom when then dumped him. Haha

Marshall Faulk
Drafted 2nd overall in 94. 3 time pro bowler as a colt, Traded in 98. 4 time pro bowler with STL. He is one of the exceptions.

You may have been thinking it
But didn’t say it. Plus they traded him because they thought he would be detrimental to the team. But to just “dump” him I guess that could be imply cut or waived only.

I like the thought of getting him and rehabbing him for a year.
Next year he could be a welcomed addition to a oline that lacks talent, but of course all of this on a hunch that you think the guy is going to help-don’t see FO doing it.
Can we stop talking about releasing Smitty and Hanson now....
My thoughts exactly
we’ve already got a pair of young, talented guys at Tackle in Jason Fox and Corey Hilliard. Ugoh seems redundant.
Tony Ugoh
I wouldn’t want to sign him, we already have young back-ups so we are set already.
