Lions Notes: Louis Delmas Expects To Play Against Bears
- Although Louis Delmas missed practice on Wednesday, he expects to be out there today and play on Sunday.
- Both C.C. Brown and Jonathan Wade practiced "without limitation" on Wednesday.
- The Lions have lost 20 straight road games, but the good news is that most of the players on the team right now haven't been around for all or the majority of this losing streak.
- Before adding Joe Jon Finley to the practice squad, the Lions had offensive lineman Donald Thomas and center Chris White in for a workout.
- Hopefully this won't be a concern as much as it has been the last two seasons, but if any Lions games are blacked out, they will once again be made available to watch on NFL.com in the days after the game.
- SI's Don Banks has the Lions 27th in his pre-regular season NFL power rankings. (The Bears are 29th, by the way.)
- There is not a scheduling conspiracy against the Lions.
- Tyler Polumbus may be in the starting lineup for Seattle this week with Russell Okung out because of an injury. Hopefully Pete Carroll actually learns his name by then.

Good News on Delmas
Do you think that Schwartz will give CC the nod over Phillips.
Damn would much rather have had Donald Thomas on the PS over JJ Fin.
Rank 27 will at least were ranked higher than 4 of the teams we face and one of those teams we play twice.(Chi)
Can we stop talking about releasing Smitty and Hanson now....
CC will start if he can play

CC Brown is a better player.
I like Phillips dont get me wrong but Brown with Delmas is a nice combo.

Maybe more experienced but i don't think better.
Phillips had a nice preseason for missing all of camp, he was put into the ring not really knowing much about the D and out shined the whole secondary.
Can we stop talking about releasing Smitty and Hanson now....
Tough call. Phillips probably does not have the play recognition that C.C. does
C.C. is going to need to not make mistakes to stay ahead of Phillips because it is the only upside he has right now. Once he gets burned a few times expect to see Phillips, might take a few games.

I hope not.
I liked Phillips at Miami and loved it when Detroit got him as a UDFA. Phillips just needs rep’s and to get comfortable w the scheme on D and from there it will be lights out for opposing wr’s, rb,s and te’s.
Detroit got them a gem in the draft, now he just needs to learn the defense so he can react more and think alot less.
I am starting the Randy Phillips fan club and hope to be filled to capacity by the 2nd game of the year.

Count me
I am in the randy phillips fan club..whats not to love a UDFA that outplayed vetran starters.
I had a dream were the Lions let me sign a 1 day contract they let me practice with them running drills and catching passes from Matt…At the end of the day I was called into Mayhews office. I was told I had just been traded to seattle for a 5th round draft pick.

I am all for Randy too. What is not to love abotu getting a little Randy eh?
All Austin Powers jokes aside, I think he has the most talent and potential of any of the guys not named Delmas at Safety position in the short term. If there is one hole in his game though, that I think Spievey may eventually surpass him on is ball skills. I love Randy’s nose for the ball, tackerling, and hitting. I have yet to see him bat a pass down or make an int though. So I keep that in mind, we have not seen a lot of him, and Spievy has not had much time at the position to learn, not to mention almost none if any in college.
Also keep in mind that Phillips was injured. He could still be recovering and or tender in whatever was injured. So the coaches might want to limit his reps. In that case I can completely understand Brown being named the starter.
Spievey is just too raw and we wont really know what we have in him for a while yet, probably a couple of seasons at least. It will be interesting to watch him this year and see how the Lions use him and how he progresses.

Brown of Phillips?
I would think it will be Brown to start but I’m not convinced he’ll see the bulk of the plays. While he’s decent against the run he pretty much sucks in coverage which will be key to his playtime. Assuming Delmas is in I’m thinking we’ll see 3 people on the left, Phillips, Brown, Spievey (in order of time) That’s just a hunch tho…
They say some people never go crazy.... what a boring life that must be!!
Future Schedules
This link has the schedules layed out through 2017. Of course, a change to an 18 game schedule will change this a bit.

In related news.. despite relocating to the pacific northwest, Pete Carroll is still a douche

I don’t want add player does not have blue collar mentality,
even if he is great player. Piston should not quit your job. - OK from J
No there is a NFL conspiracy against the lions
Why else wouldn’t we be able to win a championship sense 1957! Its a conspiracy to keep us from dominating the NFL…what else could it be poor managment and bad ownership. I think not!
