Personnel executives from the other NFC North teams seemed to think so. (link to Milwaukee Journal Sentinel) Best O-line and D-line too.
I broke down the numbers from the article. If you don't read the article, ratings are given as follows: coaches rated the top 3 at each position from 3 (highest) to 1 (lowest). They were not permitted to rate their own players. Offense and Defense had 11 starters and 6 backups, and Special Teams had 5 positions that I considered as starters.
Offense
Team: Starting Avg (Points) / With Backups (Points) / #Starters / #Backups
- Detroit: 6.54 (72) / 6.47 (110) / 5 / 3
- Green Bay: 6.54 (72) / 6.35 (108) / 5 / 2
- Chicago: 5.45 (60) / 5.88 (100) / 2 / 3
- Minnesota: 5.45 (60) / 5.06 (86) / 2 / 0
Defense
Team: Starting Avg (Points) / With Backups (Points) / #Starters / #Backups
- Green Bay: 7.0 (77) / 6.59 (112) / 5 / 2
- Chicago 6.09 (67) / 6.47 (110) / 4 / 3
- Minnesota 5.55 (61) / 5.47 (93) / 1 / 2
- Detroit 5.36 (59) / 5.47 (93) / 3 / 1
Overall (incl ST)
Team: Total Points / #Starters / #Backups - Rank
- Chicago: 247 / 8 / 6
- Green Bay: 240 / 10 / 4
- Detroit: 232 / 9 / 4
- Minnesota: 213 / 6 / 2
(Other) Stats of note: Best Linebackers: Chicago - 2 Starters, 1 Backup. Best Secondary: Green Bay - 3 Starters, 2 Backups (wow!). Best Special Teams: Minnesota - 3 Starters. 3 of Minnesota's 6 starters were on Special Teams. How did it all go so wrong for the preseason Super Bowl contenders??
