I've been enjoying all the posts on the draft and general off-season work. What do we do with the 13th pick... I know a lot of you have already voiced your opinions MULTIPLE times too, but I want to take a slightly different approach. Obviously we want (for most of us) a cornerback in Amukamara or maybe even Brandon Harris. But, what everyone always says and will continue to say forever is that WE SHOULD TRADE DOWN! Rather for that matter what about trading up...?
What I want to aim this post is more towards the REALITIES of trading.
So yes... We the lions would love to trade down assuming there isn't a slam dunk pick (which seems to be the case). But the question is... Who are potential trade partners.
I would really like everyone's input ... but to get the ball rolling here are two of my thoughts:
St. Louis picks at 14 overall and would love to get a WR. Now AJ Green will definitely be gone.. but Julio Jones might not be. He is probably worth a 7-15 selection pre-combine of course, but Would someone not sacrificing too many spots jump STL for the possibility? -- Perhaps a New England (17) / Jacksonville (16) / SanDiego (18)?
QB Roulette - quite possible. I don't think sCAM Newton / Mallet will warrant a top 10 selection - so like its possible that both of them are available --> Miami/Jacksonville could always try to jump one another for their choice.
Again, these are just two ideas I have. The reason for the aforementioned picks is that teams behind us might be threatened by the couple of picks after us. I don't see StL going for our potential picks and so dropping a couple picks is definitely in the cards.
So I would like to see what peoples suggestions are. Realistic trading opportunities always good.
*Side question* --> What is the most you're willing to give up to trade a few spots higher (If Prince drops to like 9/10)
